How do you thank your commentators?
Granting dofollow links on their name? Blogrolling them as top commentators sitewide? Or you do nothing about following links but encouraged to write the best article each time?

I at least try to visit their blog and return the favor. I just started replying to their comments on my blog as well.
    1. kdawg68
Yup, I try and do the same, although lately I've been beating myself up for not being as good a friend to those who leave comments as I should.
    2. blueinferno2001
i'm happy too when the author respond to my comments. although i didn't expect them to do it for my every comments
  2. carlgalloway
I follow and give them dofollow links. I've been contemplating adding a top commentators but I need to look at my site design before I do this.
    1. blueinferno2001
i also think for a top commentator plugin, but i still have to figure out the best placement. for now, i stick to dofollow and maybe comment luv
  3. mawbooks
I always visit their blog if they have one and leave a comment, I always reply to each comment, I have a top 10 commentator widget in my sidebar, and just yesterday I gave away a free book to one of my commentators. I also have snapshots enabled which gives a RSS feed and shows their last three posts on their blog.
    1. suburbqueen
      Wow! You are very generous.
    2. blueinferno2001
i used snapshot and dislike they displaying baloons everywhere even i only enable them for outgoing links only. if you're going to display your commentator's feed, why don't try comment luv? but i guess it is limited to 1 recent post though
    3. mawbooks
I like seeing the last three posts. I do have snapshots only enabled for outgoing links but you can disable it with a class "no snapshots" on any link that you don't want it showing. I've done this for my live signature but have not been able to figure out how to do it for my subscribe/bookmark buttons. Having trouble with that.

I cover them in honey and lick them clean.
    1. DrowseyMonkey
LOL...I'm on my way to comment!
  5. jafabrit
I thank them and most often or not I visit their blog and say hi. I appreciate that people took the time to leave a comment and feel responding to their comments is important.
    1. blueinferno2001
me too. when do you usually do this, jafabrit? i usually do it at night when i'm done with my blogging schedule
    2. jafabrit
I usually try to do it in the mornings from 7:30 am until 9am. I don't always manage it, but I do try.
  6. LGramlich
I return the favor, at least. Regular commentators get a spot in my blogroll. If any of them are mentioned in a post, they get a link there, too. I also cut them sweetheart deals on my artwork (when interest is expressed.)
    1. blueinferno2001
a sitewide blogroll is surely a great reward. not to mention the special deal!
  7. ThriftShopRomantic
I check out the folks who comment on my site, and will often leave a comment for them. I also, if applicable, respond within my own comments area, to acknowledge them so readers know, yes, I am out there listening, and glad to have them visit.

If they're in my niche and I think their site would be a good resource for my readers, I'll add them to my blogroll.

I'll also Stumble their site if it's in my genre and want to help them kick off a bit of traffic.
    1. dreesyach
      very nice of you, thriftshopromantic!

Me.. am just visiting back their blog and put a comment in their new posts.
    2. blueinferno2001
i agree and those are some of the many ways we can socialize and help others
  8. castocreations
I need to do better...I need to visit their sites as well. Sometimes I do but there's only so much time in the day and this usually falls to the wayside.

At home I will stumble folks if I remember.
    1. blueinferno2001
or you can create discussions like this one and it'll easy for you to visit their profile coz they're gathered in one place
  9. whojaybe
I pay them... I just started a weekly giveaway to one person each week just for commenting... don't believe me, read www.datmoney.com/2008/02/new-weekly-cash-and-ec-giveaway-at.html or ask the first DM weekly giveaway winner...
    1. blueinferno2001
hi jay, thanks for the design back then
how do u keep track of those who comment? manually?
  10. DrowseyMonkey
I've never thought of it as a reward...hmm. My comment section is very intereactive and often the best part of my post. Most of the people who comment are on my blogroll anyway, and I visit & comment on their blogs regularly. If someone new drops by I'm always flattered and enjoy visiting their blogs as well ... it's a great way to meet new blogger buddies.
    1. blueinferno2001
      well, i didn't have a better word
maybe something like what you do to make the commentators feel like they're not writing to nobody.
nice blogs you have! i like the ones with the artwork and your personal blog
  11. veeshken
I visit their blog/website (if they have left an address) and put in a comment their . If they do not have a website then i just thank them for their comment .
    1. blueinferno2001
i agree. even if it's just a thank, it'll make commentators feel appreciated
  12. pointlessbanter
    By posting everyday
    1. blueinferno2001
i see it's also a good way to give them fresh content everyday
  13. mawbooks
I have had people come back quite often just to continue a conversation that we are having in the comment section. Quite nice.
    1. blueinferno2001
building up conversations sometimes can emerge new ideas for new articles. an ongoing discussion can also be an interesting article content
  14. gosmelltheflowers
The comment luv plugin is pretty cool....we've trailed it over in the new look garden and its going well!
  15. jackpayne
Answer commenters' questions. Time and again I've had people come back because they got their questions about con artist news and practices answered to their satisfacion.
    1. blueinferno2001
agree to it, jack. when they got their qs answered, they may come back and ask more. you've got yourself a loyal then
  16. clioandme
"Reward"? I thought this was about communication.
    1. mawbooks
Most people aren't prone to stop and comment. I have over 100 visitors a day and only get 1-2 comments a day and 10+ on Saturdays. Incentives, incentives, incentives! I thrive on comments, it's a big part of why I blog. I like the interaction.
    2. blueinferno2001
well, i didn't have a better word in my mind
maybe something like what you do to make the commentators feel like they're not writing to nobody
  17. bloggernoob
by replying back to their comments. by giving them random prizes. by answering questions
    1. blueinferno2001
i see it results a significant number of comments, so i guess they work
  18. thelonebeader
I try to comment on their blog, and I also reply to their comments on my blog as well. But, my big thing is, occasionally, I suprise my blog friends by putting their photo in my beaded artwork. I've been doing that recently with the Yellow Submarine project I'm workin on. This post is a perfect example of that: blog.thelonebeader.com/2008/01/drive-my-sub.html

You can see the daily progress of my work here: blog.thelonebeader.com/

Do stop by and check it out!

that's a surprise! outstanding handicraft you made there. i like the red truck .
  19. Scout
While I get quite a few readers every day, I only get a handful of comments, and the commentators are blogpals whose pages I read and comment on nearly every day already. I try to read and comment when someone is new and make a point of thanking them.

I link to just about everyone who links to me.

    i'll kiss dem!!!
    lol
    1. blueinferno2001
      on my wwaayyyy....!
  21. whojaybe
Blue - Yes, I keep track of them manually. I get an e-mail each time someone comments and I automatically direct them to a filtered folder for "Weekly contest." After each week is done, I move them into a generic "comments" folder.
    1. blueinferno2001
      interesting... good idea..
    1. blueinferno2001
waw, that's very rewarding in my opinion..
i hope someday mine will be there
    2. genopianist54
Hehe.. happy to see one of your comment in my post

      Regards
  23. FLOOG
I visit my commentators blogs and converse with them in the shout box facility.

I'm constantly amazed by the talent and generosity of the people I've met through blogging, some amazing people and beautiful souls
    1. blueinferno2001
you're right, Floog. there are lots of benefits when we socialize with others
  24. LisaT
I have a top Commenter plug in and a DO FOLLOW plug in on my blog. That's the reward--SE juice. I'm thinking of offering premiums later though.
    1. blueinferno2001
same here, it's just that i haven't do my top commentator yet..
that's a nice site you've got! simple but solid with information
  25. aspotofblog
I acknowledge their comments by answering any questions they may have or by thanking them. Then I give them a cookie.
  26. FreakSmack
I degrade them publicly, I know that sounds mean, but they keep coming back like crack-heads looking for a rock.
  27. cooltool

  28. mascholik
