i've never said it directly,but more to show that i care for the people i love.cause for me love is not only go by saying but proving it.i prefer to say i care a lot,and i hope they get the meaning.

It is hard to say I love you to family members but i say that in letters.I also find it hard to say I love you to the one I love...it is more naked than being naked.

I have learned that the word love has little meaning unless and until it's manifested. In other words, I have learned that love is an action word.

Love is:
dana = authentic generosity (charitable giving of the self and sharing of possessions, donation);
metta = selfless love and good will toward all beings (loving kindness)
karuna = compassion (respect, acceptance, forgiveness);
mudita = altruistic joy filled with peace and contentment (appreciative joy at the success and good fortune of others);
sila = self discipline -abstaining from physical and vocal actions that cause harm to oneself and others;
uppekka = equanimity (an inclusive state of open mind free of attachment, aversion, bigotry, craving, ignorance and intolerance).

Everyone needs it to be said in a different way and no one way is fit for all. People are different and all feel appreciated in different ways, and that is how you tell someone you truly love them... You tell them in the way they need you to tell them even if it is a way that is difficult for you. Some people appreciate most quality time, or words of endearment, others physical touch, or even gifts. Everyone needs to know they are loved. They key is like I said you tell them how they need it when where most go wrong is they tell how is most naturally comfortable to them. A personal example is me and my own wife. I am a physical touch person and just because I'm a guy doesn't mean this has to go down the gutter. I am the guy who likes to hold hands, give back rubs, yada yada... My wife on the other hand likes things to be done for her e.g. doing the dishes so she doesn't have to, etc. These ways say more to the both of us than just merely saying the words, "I love you."

"I LOVE YOU" these are three difficult word in the world. Difficult to say and mean it. and if done both, perfectly and meant it truly. u'd surely be the happiest person on earth!! Dont trust me!! TRY IT OUT urself!!
