Hey mikeny07 - thanks for the knowledge. I've been getting over 1000 unique and my views are obviously blowing up after a few older articles been stumbled upon. I don't have a lot of fans and from the the website it doesn't show many ratings? Does this just means its showing up a lot when people click the stumble. i ain't complaining - its tripled my subscribers and the traffic is great so I am fan. just doesn't make a lot of sense...do u recommend using their paid traffic since i am getting this much traffic..i doubt it will last...

Also if you become a top stumbler on the front page, people will most likley click on your profile. Since one of my blogs is listed on the profile page that ask for your website, that can lead to unlimited hits.

Being a top stumbler probably though takes some luck and lots of free time. I rated about 47 sites today. Left comments on all of them. Some top stumbers rated over 10,000 sites!

I'm not a big StumbleUpon user and certainly no expert, but I seem to recall people here who'd had a lot of success with it saying that it was harmful to stumble your own pages.

I think DharmaGypsy is a pro...maybe she'll show up and enlighten us.

Im online since 1996 and had a hard time figuering stumbleupon out. From what I learned the way it works is this.

You stumble pages and rate them and review them, or just rate them without writing any comments. I like writing comments on all my thumbs up pages so it helps letting others know what the page is about. You try to make friends with people with the same interest in topics that you have.

The idea is writing good reviews about pages (not just one word saying it is a great page) and recommending only good pages. (thumbs up them)

I think as time goes on, you get more fans and find more friends with same interest. All of this probably leads to your blogs getting looked at more. I stumbled my blogs but I also find pages nobody found yet on the site. Make sure you contribute and not just stumble your own pages.

In the long run you will probably get more traffic if you have good websites and people write good reviews about them and tell their friends.

If the pages aren't in the database and categorizes then they won't be found. I stumble pages and set them in a category, tag them etc. and then thats how people stumble on them. I think it depends on who does the stumbling. I have a few reviews of my blog(s) and a handful of posts that have been stumbled by multiple people, but the vast majority of my stumble traffic comes from one post that has only two "votes"--they just happen to be from two people who are serious stumblers. I've been getting a little bit of traffic from that one pretty much every day for a couple of months.

Stumble you own pages? Is that legit? Shouldn't someone else be stumbling your stuff?

The popup is for sites that you have "discovered", that is, that are new to StumbleUpon.

In the other cases the site is already known to StumbleUpon, but you are adding a vote and also telling StumbleUpon about your tastes.

You must stumble a few of your pages 1st not only the main page. Categorize it and add it to the system. You can then stumble other pages, I've gotten lots of hits from it so far and only learned how to use it yesturday. Do some research its a great way to get your pages stumbled upon.

I have not figured it out yet either. I installed the bar and never used it much. Yesterday I went to stunble someone and had message from someone and couldn't figure out how to respond.
I finally did figure out how to add a friend.

who stumbles it and when all your stumbles come impact the results.

People that have a lot of "fans" are a little bit more powerful of a stumbler. Also if you get a few stumbles in a short period of time it allegedly improves the power of your post.

Purdles: I think if the site hasn't been Stumbled before they ask you to describe it. If it has been stumbled the hand turns green. If you're still unsure you can go to your profile and click "liked" pages to see the ones you've stumbled.

I'm sorry, I haven't figured it out yet! I keep Stumbling folks though. I checked out your blog and Stumbled you because I think we might serve the same audience. However, what I don't get is sometimes when I click the 'I like it' button, a popup asks me to describe the site, other times, it just depresses or clicks, like it just accepted my click but nothing else. I worry that its not working, but maybe that's how its supposed to work???

I thought I knew how Stumble Upon worked because I've been using it for two months. But lately it's been confusing me. When I had my old domain on blogger, I had been Stumbled by about 20 people and reviewed by around 11. I only got about 2 hits a day from Stumble Upon

My new domain, http://www.nethustlin.com has less stumbles and even less reviews, but for some reason I have more traffic coming from there... There was one day where I had over 150 hits from Stumble Upon alone within 2 hours. Then the traffic stopped and I didn't get any Stumble hits for over a week. Today I've gotten 60+ hits from there so far, after getting none for a week and a half.

Does anyone know how this works?
