Have you made any major lifesytle changes, especially since oil prices have been hitting the roof? Have your life become more 'oil conscious'? If so...let me know..

I agree. I have to drive 35 miles one way to work ... and it's in a place where bus travel is not an option. At least the classes I teach are evening classes, so I am always going against traffic (not spending time idling) and I only go in 2-3x / week. The rest of the time I work at my home office, or go to my local office for office hours; that's only 7 miles away and I can combine the trip with exercise at the campus facility, grocery shopping, banking, and other errands.

I buy more stuff online too. Get this: I found that there are many non-perishable grocery items at Amazon that cost less than at the supermarket here in town, and I don't have any problem spending more than $25, so shipping is free. Makes no sense to me though, that Amazon can ship to me and it's still cheaper than if I walked a block to the store to buy stuff.

A policeman who frequents the local donut shop mentioned a while back that he has noticed that many motorists are not coming to a full stop at stop signs and are also going through yellow and red lights since the sky rocketing gas prices in an attempt to save gas...He was quite concerned about this as intersections is where most traffic accidents occur...
Last week a motorist killed two pedestrians going through a red light... -
I have made some changes in the way I drive. I used to drive with a very heavy foot, accelerating quickly and stopping quickly. I now drive slower, and coast in neutral when I can.
Simply by doing this, I increased the mileage I get out of one tank of gas from 235 miles to 370 miles!!! Those small driving changes may not seem like a big deal, but that's like getting 7 free gallons of gas with every fill-up.
Other than that, I haven't made any changes. I still eat out the same amount, still spend the same amount on groceries, etc.
Sure, the hike in gas prices is a nuisance, but overall I don't fee like it's had any effect on my lifestyle. -
It has changed some things in my life. We don't go anywhere much now, too expensive for gas, everything is long distance driving in Alaska.
Plus I will be putting off turning on the heat this winter as long as possible, as heating fuel is also outrageous now.
We are pinching pennies for sure now!
I wonder if it will ever go down again. Or just continue climbing.
It has also affected my business. Summer tourists are spending very little, their extra spending money has to be used on fuel now. -
I cry everytime I have to buy gas! I have to debate between buying milk for my kids to drink or gas for the drive to the grocery store. I make a map of where I have to go and contemplate whether an appointment or errand can wait for a different day. The same goes for groceries. Now that milk is over $4 and food is just as high, you have to decide which item is more important. Junk food is out because that only helps in adding unnecessary dollars to your bill. The questions are: Can you go without eggs? Which affordable meal will give better nutrients to your kids? Frozen veggies or fresh? Should I wait on the watermelon? My household is eating more beans and rice than ever before and that is healthy! At this point, all we do is buy what we can afford in a sensible way and pray over everything we eat. We ask that God will continue to bless us with good health especially now that we are unable to afford the foods that were once a luxury!
