We live in a spoiled country. Our needs are more then met, so we look for luxuries. Design is more luxury then necessity. Take pc and mac. take the popularity of certain brands compared to other. it's all about design. It's the same thing for blogs. Design is my passion. how important is design for you guys? www.designbycha.com/

i think i started the thread with some confusion. my fault cause i can't explain that well. english is not first language for me. anyway. i believe that design can make a product better. it beautifies thing, buildings, space, etc. makes life more pleasant. it's also a form of art. freeatlast, i too have love architecture.

Design is everything in blogging! Lucky I had some great advisors to help me:

I like to see designs that indicate something of the blogger's personality. I like blogs with a bit of color, with easily readable text, but the design isn't too "busy".
However, a well-written blog can overcome a boring, blah minimalist stock design.
I've not got the skills to design my own templates, but I can alter an existing design by slapping on an interesting header image at top that shows a bit of my personality. And I've got a blogging friend with more skills who can help me when I get stuck.
A couple of big turnoffs for me are light backgrounds with extremely faint text -- a white background with very faint yellow text, for example. Another offender is a dark background with text that is only slightly lighter -- medium blue text on a dark blue background. It's all about contrast.
This isn't a design issue, per se, but a blog full of misspelling and "teen talk" (ur for your, gr8 for great, etc) doesn't inspire repeat visits from me,either. I don't mind unintentional typos, however, as long as they don't dominate the writing.
