Hi folks!

In a city like, Mumbai, commuting is still a huge problem. I take about two hours to go to college and another two to get back. So, I spend four hours in travelling itself.

How long do you take?

10 minutes one way. I used to spend hours commuting but not anymore. And quite often I can work from home.

Me, too. Actually probably a little less than 10 minutes.

About 20-25 minutes on average. Of course it's Construction Season here in my city.

Which means everything is being worked on and down to one lane or detoured, so one route I used to go which took 10 minutes ended up taking FOUR HOURS once. It was mayhem.

yeah, construction reminds me... There's construction going on here too, they are building a flyover to ease traffic, which may take another 2-3 years to complete... hell of a jam it is!!

I can imagine. It's hard to focus on how great it'll be in 2-3 years, while you're sitting there in traffic.

Wow! 2 hrs! That is insane. It takes me 20-25 minutes, but some of that is spent going (80 mph)130 km/hr down the interstate highway.

I walk less than a minute and a half to get from my trailer to my desk. And sometimes I'm still late for work! Camp Shield, Iraq

I'm about a three minute drive from my office. I would walk or ride my bike, but it's right off of the highway, and not a very pedestrian- or bike-friendly area.

I hear that. I'm about 5 miles from work, but I've seen so many horrific car accidents on the main road (which is 2 winding lanes of high-speed traffic,) I'd be foolish to even attempt riding a bike.

School an hour. Work, now I walk and come home for lunch. ;0

lucky people! Is anyone from a big city like NY(or any other big city) this lucky?

About 3-5 minutes and I still manage to get here late daily!
    1. xtremer
      where are you from?

Less than a minute I work from home. (or is this answer 'cheating'?)

My drive to work can be up to an hr each way. I only live about 25 miles from work but the traffic is pretty bad.
If I leave early enough it only takes about 25 minutes

Well on my bike it takes 5 minutes to get to my college from my apartment. It takes me about a half hour on interstate to get to work.
    1. xtremer
lucky you! Most of you people use the roadways, does anyone here use any other mode of transport?

P.S. : Tetsujin, I'm seeing you after almost six months! Where had you been?

Roughly 45 seconds, unless I stop to brush my teeth--then it's about three minutes. If I'm in a real hurry, I can hit the upstairs computer, reducing the trip to about four seconds.

Until January, though, I was commuting over an hour and a half each way.

I sit up and turn on the computer. I guess my real office is the kitchen, though - so that takes about 5 seconds to get to

It's about a ten-minute walk from home to college for me. I always walk, even if I'm late for class.

I work from home, so the commute isn't a problem. Actually working with so many distractions at home is another kind of problem....
    1. Anniepooh
      Amen to that.

40-50 minutes in traffic, 15 minutes no traffic.

Bombay is an utter mess.... there is no place on the planet that is as disorganized as Bombay.... it's really scary.. esp around "the Necklace" area
    1. xtremer
hey! It's not Mumbai that's disorganized, the only problem is that it's not straight. While many other cities are sort of rounded. You start your journey at one point and you end up reaching the same point after some time. Such is not the case of Mumbai.

But during the monsoons, it may get messy. Given the magnitude of rainfall, any city may limp during the monsoons...

I end up driving 60 minutes in the morning and then another 75 to 90 minutes coming home. Getting through Seattle every day is always a bit of a challenge!

50 minutes...Then I quite often have to travel further out. The journey I consider part of the job.
