    2. hiteshrawat
you need to work on your.....general knowledge of terms.....i think you...should start chatting.......thts where i learned it from:)
    3. MadameX
I disagree. People should speak in words, not code.
    4. timethief
      @hiteshrawat
"you need to work on your.....general knowledge of terms.....i think you...should start chatting.......thts where i learned it from:)"

Thanks for your opinion. I chat privately in English with web developers and web designers, who are my close friends. We can actually spell. We do have a working knowledge of English grammar and we know how to use punctuation correctly. We abhor text speak.
    5. hiteshrawat
but web developers don't help you with these code words or rather slangs
    6. MadameX
Hite, a lot of us are aware of the terms and nonetheless choose to speak English.
    7. timethief
There is no such word as "slangs". The word only comes in the singular form which is "slang". This can be confirmed by using an English dictionary.
    8. hiteshrawat
well timethief.............srry for the disagreement........but slang is to develop new words......to describe the existing.........words.........

i know there ain't anything as SLANGS.......but this is where we need a slang
    9. dlowe
@MadameX "Hite, a lot of us are aware of the terms and nonetheless choose to speak English." No I think you need to work on sounding like a complete moron. I don't think it comes easy for you (at least I never seen try) ;-)
    10. hiteshrawat
      easy guy............easy on the ladies..........
    11. MadameX
dlowe, are you trying to worm your way onto my BFF list?
    12. timethief
      wrong spot
    13. dlowe
@MadameX I am soooooo already there. LOL!!
    14. hiteshrawat
atlast madamx realized wat dlowe was thinking from the starting
    15. MadameX
Yeah, Hite, I'm on to him.
    16. lotusb
Um... 2. Who cares who uses abreaviations and who dosen't. It's either a sign of age or a sign of preference, not intellegence. No need to get all huffy about it...GEEZ!
    17. kat822
that is funny umm thought everyone had heard that term , have a tight inner circle consisting of three guys and girl, lots of other friends but the inner circle are the most intimate
  2. MadameX
Three, but I don't use the term lightly. The newest of them has been in my life for six or seven years, the other two more than twenty. I have a lot of other good friends, but no one else I would refer to as a "best" friend.
    1. ThriftShopRomantic
I have a similar situation. Two who continue to be my "best friends"-- one from grade school and one from college.

And a number of friends I feel close to. Probably about six or seven of them, accumulated over time and through various stages of my life-- and who all are lovely in their very own ways.
    2. hiteshrawat
i have a few.......i think soo........i can think of only two guys.......who understand and sync with be perfectly........

many a times we are thinking the same thing.......
    3. dlowe
OMG MX I'm not your BFF? WTF?
    4. hiteshrawat
madam X got one here lined up for her BFF post
  3. timethief
Could it be Brain Fart Factor?
    1. dlowe
No Timethief you are all wrong. Its Big Freakin Feet.

      I wear a size 13. I have BFF!
    2. hiteshrawat
      this one is good too
  4. timethief
    Coffee break!
    1. ThriftShopRomantic
      Easy there, TT.

I suspect if I were writing in a language that wasn't my native one, even with the best of intentions, I might make grammatical errors, as well.

Edited to add- ACK! Now I see once more I am responding to something that was edited and doesn't make sense now.

      Alas and alack...
    2. hiteshrawat
yea.......english isn't my native language.......plzz don't mind the little errors
  5. timethief
I have not thought in terms of "best friend" since I was in grade school. Gender has absolutely no bearing on the friendships I make. I have a small group of a dozen very close friends. Some of are men and some are women. Some live close to where I live and some live far away. In all cases, our friendship has endured for decades and it's likely that we will remain friends until death.
  6. lordiwanttobewhole
    I have a few BFF's or 'the-kind-of-friend-who-will-always-bail-me-out-and-love-me-to-death-despite-all-my-quirks'!!!

And, I wouldn't trade them for all the money in the world!!!
    1. lordiwanttobewhole
Oh, my BFF's are female........we gotta stick together you know!

Although i love hanging out with guys too!
  7. hiteshrawat
yea........why no one is answering the second question??????????????
    1. timethief
Technically you have not posted a complete sentence let alone two but I answered your second "implied" question above.

Gender has absolutely no bearing whatsoever on the friendships that I make. I do not have sexual relationships with my friends. I have only a sexual relationships with my husband, who, in essence, is my best friend. I have a slightly higher number of close male friends than I do close female friends.
    2. hiteshrawat
yea i wanted to know the general.....or majority........

is it easy to find BFF in similar gender than other????????
    3. hiteshrawat
okk tell me this think plzz.......

i saw a movie where there was this pair of friends used to be sexually active with eachother ........and a lot of pairs are there in tht country......don't know which one it was......

people used call them "S** buddies".....isn't there anything like emotional attachment in a relationship like this?
    4. timethief
If you want to be taken seriously in the educational world, the working world and/or in the professional world then using slang is a negative factor. The overuse of punctuation is also a negative factor. Slang is casual language that can be characteristic as "backyard language" or "street talk".

"is it easy to find BFF in similar gender than other????????"

The correct way to ask this question in English is:
Is it easier to find a best friend who is the same gender as you are?

      My answer is no.

P.S. Here's the links to other threads on this topic www.blogcatalog.com/discuss/search.php?q=best%20friend
    5. MadameX
Actually, Timethief, that's no longer true in a large number of industries. I WISH you were right, and abhor the use of slang and text-speak and all that, but the world is getting younger and more and more of the managers of the world were raised on this kind of terminology and consider it quite normal and acceptable. Good grammar and clear expression is rapidly going the way of professional attire.
    6. hiteshrawat
agree......but i'm here to relax and chat.......not into some business meeting.....or an interview......i hate formal language.....cause its not that much liberating than the casual one
    7. timethief
It would appear that many will be communicating in baffling, blather speak in the future. I will not be in that number.
    8. timethief
".i hate formal language.....cause its not that much liberating than the casual one"
It's interesting that you find the use of slang to be a liberating experience. Actually, in North America the very best slang speakers are more likely to be "incarcerated" than liberated.
    9. kat822
wrong spot , gotta adhere to the restraining order lol
  8. hiteshrawat
    need a break........BRB
    1. kat822
well I guess you aren't getting your wish but IDK maybe you will

Men can be best friends with men, sometimes with women. Women cannot be best friends with women (they can pretend though), but can be best friends with men.
    1. MadameX
That's a sort of bizarre statement. What's your basis?
    2. voodooKobra
      [What's your basis?]
Bigotry, mostly. Probably a little spite, too.
  10. voodooKobra
Your use of FOUR question marks following a period, an acronym that does not come with any elaboration or context, and the lowercase H in "how" all indicate that you will never be one of them.
  11. timethief
Here we go again. It's only been two days since the last time this kind stereotypical excrement was last shoveled on this forum. The stereotype that men cannot be friends with attractive women was raised in the last round. This time the stereotype is "Women cannot be best friends with women (they can pretend though), but can be best friends with men." Balderdash!
    1. voodooKobra
One of my closest friends is outright gorgeous and I have no [non-platonic] feelings for her. She's also very intelligent.

In short, the "men cannot be friends with attractive women" is utter BS.
    2. timethief
In short, the "Women cannot be best friends with women (they can pretend though), but can be best friends with men" is also utter BS.
    3. voodooKobra
I don't even know what basis a person could have for that level of stupidity. That's like saying gay people can't experience love, or Germans can't be happy.
    4. timethief
Ignorance can be cured - stupidity is forever.
    5. aningeniousname
      That's true about Germans.
  12. lotusb
I have one solid BFF, and my close friends tend to change a lot. My BF is another BFF, so that's 2.

On a side, note...for some reason I can't stop eating this nasty taco bowl. Ugh...hunger is madness.
  13. benspak
..My BFF's are my left and right

God, I started laughing when I read that BFF. I picture a ten year old in pigtails and I can get no further.
  19. calais50
Shit, ppl will get their panties in a wad over anything. If people don't like a particular thread, instead of criticizing and embarrassing the poster, why not start your own thread about constipation? This guy is young and not a native speaker. Cut him some slack!
To answer the ?-I have a few close friends and several kayaking/running buddies.
I tend to make friends with men the easiest.
    1. RTBjr73
      Hey, that's not fair, Robin!!!!!

I wear boxers, thank you very much (and they are quite cute)
    2. kat822
Oh I love this response, lets see there are so many other important things to be upset over look at all the wasted energy spent on responding to what a crime it is to use slang
  20. calais50
Oh, so you finally quit wearing the Spiderman Underoos?
    1. RTBjr73
That's right, I needed to grow up. I feel more my age with my spongebob boxers.

      (smartypants)
  21. PascalH
As for me over a 5000.
But the number is for sure higher.
    Purely mathematical.
    40 years of F...&...S....
Let's be reasonable with an average of 2 a day!
    AND IN PERFECT SHAPE!
    Still experimenting more!
  22. LGramlich
All of my friends are high quality people (or they wouldn't be my friends.) They each have their own qualities, too, so to pick just a few from the crowd wouldn't be effective or fair. I'd trust all of them with my life & love them all deeply.
Not to mention that I'm not in high school anymore.
  23. kdawg68
probably already said, but by definition can't you only have "1' BFF? I mean, if you have multiple BFFs, then who is really the "B"FF. They are all just "FFs", right?
  24. Bayho
I don't have any bff's. I have friends that I am closer to then others but i learned a long time ago not to trust any one with the exception of your family. I mean I'm not a loser I hang out with different people but have not found any one who i think is best friend material . . .and I'm ok with that.
  25. arqu3fiq
I have 5 BF, but I have left them because I'm borring and I got very Hansome than him. hehehehe....
