How many blog posts in the year 2008?

So how many blog posts did you have in this year which is coming to an end and how many you think you will end up with in 2009?
And when did you start?
For those of you who have been into blogging for some years now, have the number of posts per year increased or decreased???

I started my blog in September, so I haven't done a great deal.
I don't know the exact number as the year isn't technically over yet, think there's another post or two in me, but at last count it's something like 32.
Next year I'm hoping to put out at least 50, that's my main goal but as long as the content improves I don't suppose it matters much.-

I started seriously and regularly 5 to 6 months back..
I have so far 25 posts...but considering how big my posts usually are, it would be equivalent to like 40 posts!
Hope I find enough time next year to continue at this rate or even better!

I started in May,2007. Last year I put up approximately 50 posts on con man activities.-
50 posts related to one topic?
I am just the opposite. My posts are on as many topics as possible!

I started blogging in March of 2008. I have about 85 posts. I hope to have the same or more in 2009...-
that is almost 9 per month or 2 per week! not bad.

I started April 22 and am up to 140.-
that's a high number for 8 months....but what I have observed is that there are many who have just started this year...Interesting to know those who have been blogging for a few years now.....to see how they keep up over the years..

I started my blog on November 22, 2008. There were four posts for the month of November and 12 posts thus far for December, so that makes a grand total of 16 posts for 2008. I'll probably make a few more posts before the end of this year.
As for future years, I don't have a set number in mind. I'll just steer by the stars and see where it takes me.-

Started in Aug this year. 104 Posts so far. Would make a couple more. Maybe around 400 in 2009.-
I am surprised at how many posts people put up...It's almost more than one everyday! Do you think that this is a key component to having a loyal readers base who keep coming back again and again?

I aim for one good (sometimes small) post a day, however that is tough to do when operating a blog alone.-

I start crazzycool blog in Feb 2008 and so far 246 posts. Hope to make it 250.-
so you need 4 posts in 2 days....250 is not bad for a round figure....although it would be 10 times of mine..
I wonder on an average how long would the posts be for everyone.
Has anyone ever found out the number of words in their post???

for the calendar year 2008, my petlvr blog published 497 and will break 500 by thursday~

I just added up 2007 posts on PetLvr .. it was 680 ... I deliberately slowed down halfway thru 2007 and it showed in 2008

even after slowing down it is commendable.....Considering that I average about 5 per month and give the length of my posts, do you think it eventually ends up the same?

Oh..ok..My 25 are on variety of topics like Cricket sport, my hobbies- portraits and poems, Spirituality, movie reviews etc......
So souldrift, what is your target for the next year or how many do you think you will end up with??? -
I too am thinking of writing something on music too...I play the piano...It is one of my hobbies.
Maybe I can put up notations of some good songs.

I have started in April this year. With a zigzag start and going into doldrums at times, i have posted 52 posts. And i think, next year i will cross 100.-
100 seems to be the magic number here!

Total posts for my main blog comes to 39 in 2008. Next year there will definitely be more for Making Social Change A Reality, thelpproject.blogpost.com. We were a bit late in developing our "blog strategy" but since we have that now and our annual strategic goals (as part of the startup nonprofit I run), there should be a total of 300 by the end of 2009. We can do it!

I just made my last post for the year today - there is now a grand total of 17 posts for 2008 (back since the blog was started on November 22, 2008).

I too made a new post just before the year ended taking the total to 26 though i wanted it to be a round figure of 25!

How do you tell how many posts you've posted?
I use Blogger.-
I too use blogger...perhaps you haven't put the archiving or something otherwise it will tell you month wise- or any format you select. So you can just add up the number of posts per month to get the total posts for the year.

So 34 in a year? Is that for the whole year or did you start later in the year? As I have 25 in 6 months and almost everyone has more than that!

I have about 65 for the year. That is not consistent blogging. 2009 I plan to have a min of 2 a week. I would pefer to get up to 4 per week, per blog. I have to I maintain full time - 1 personal, 1 business. I will be happy with 2 per week per blog.-
2 per week huh? That seems a good number. Currently I am at 1/week

I started blogging March 2006...and, yeah 500 posts overall.-
So that's like close to 3 years....still a good rate!
Over these years have the number of posts increased or decreased? Any trend?

2008 was a very bad year for blogging,since I was working about 90 hours a week on average. I came in at 152 posts total for the whole year (not counting work blogs) -
Wow! Atleast through this discussion I have come to know what various bloggers feel is a good number of posts! By that standard I rate just a poor 4 or 5 blog posts/month

Well, Achyut, I have six blogs--if I'd made 152 posts on a single blog during a year that would probably seem like a decent number, but divided among six it's a bit different. My most active blog got 69 posts this year.

And you have 6 blogs?!! That's another thing now that I have come to know about bloggers maintaining multiple blogs...How do you maintain 6 of them?! and why? -
Well, I don't make much effort to "maintain" them--if I were trying to make money from them or had some other reason to need to post regularly, keeping up six might be tough. This past year, for instance, rather than the average of 25 posts/blog, I actually made 69 posts on my most active blog and just 9 on the least...but which is most active shifts depending on what I'm most immersed in at the time. I have six blogs simply because the subject matter is so different (writing, catholicism, dogs, questions from my search results, social commentary and personal).

Yes, that's a nice way to divide and have many blogs if you write on many topics and if your posts can be put under those...I like that idea.

I post 186 times in my main blog. About the same as the previous year. I did slow down towards the end but hope to be back at it this year at about the same pace. I am just starting my fourth year of blogging. My post have increase over time, but I am close to my physical limit at least for beautiful summer morning.

Thank you- for an experienced blogger to share this with us. It's good to know that you are maintaining the pace and infact increasing over the years. That's what I wanted to know whether it becomes a challenge to even maintain the rate over the years..

That happens to many....I too actually and officially started in Dec 2007. but then stopped and strated again seriously in June-July 2008

Just a thought: I think consistency is more important than the number of times you blog. If you blog once every two weeks and your readers clue in, or once a week etc, people will come back to you on a regular basis. If you post on an irregular basis I think you will find more of a challenge building your readership.

Yes ngrimshawe, that is a very good point that you make...your readers should know normally when you update ..then the rate or frequency doesn't matter that much.

86 posts in 2008, I have entered the scene in 2007.
What I have learned is that you can have 1 post per month and if it's high quality original and worth reading post, it will have more effect than 100 useless posts, so in 2009 I hope for more quality posts and number doesn't matter.
