I'm single and happy more often than not. What's going to be a bummer for me is the empty nest syndrome that's gonna hit in a few more months. 2 years ago I had three kids under my roof and now just one. And she's in her last year of college and will be on her own come May/June.

  an empty nest isn't so bad once you adjust. It took me a couple of weeks to get used to it but I started to enjoy it after that. Things remain where you put them, the bathroom stays clean, and you get to control the tv channels

  in biblical times, when people got engaged they started living together, for say a year - if during that time they found they were not compatible, they separated without divorce being necessary!

divorced after 25 yrs - not liking being alone with 4 cats.. in the georgia hills, no people around.. not a good place to be! my wife left my b/c my mom was dying at 82 - nice! just when you need her the most..

I'd rather be in a city where I could meet single ladies nightly, at least then my life would have a purpose! Blogging is not meaningful, its more like self-induced psycho-therapy

While that is amusing to hear, it is a sad commentary on many marriages. You have to work at being married, or you risk losing the mate of your life. Marriage should be good. If it's not work to improve it. You can love anyone you are supposed to love.
