how many BOOKS do you read (and finish reading) a WEEK, a month?

it obviously depends on the book, so specify if you like.

Usually one or two a week. Last week I read "Chicago: A Novel" by Alaa Al Aswany. I'm reading "The Sublime Object of Ideology" by Slavoj Zizek now.

i still need to get around that zizek book. it's such a major piece, but the title makes me very weary, probably because it has "sublime," "ideology," and "object" all in one. hahaha. i'd be curious what you think of it. i'm always around formalists, so i rarely ever meet anyone willing (or anyone who has the capacity) to discuss more contemporary theory.

awww jeeez....hmmm about 4-5 books a month I suppose. It depends how big the book is. A book that's about 800-900 pages takes me two weeks to finish, a book less than that takes me about a week. It also depends how much time I put aside to read
I always manage to read at least 2 times a day though for an hour or half an hour. -
I go through periods where I will read 1-2 novels a day. Fiction - Grisham, Robert Parker, Dick Francis, Jenet Evanovich, Patrick Robinson, Clive Cussler, etc...
so...400-1000 pages a day if I happen to have nothing else to do.
Nonfiction I take much more slowly.
It's been about a month since I have read anything at all though; busy busy. -
I am not one to read fiction. Probably get in about 10 pages and be bored. I do read a lot but it has to be informational. If I am not going to learn from it I will be bored with the book. I read my investors newspaper religiously and usually at least one more local newspaper a day. All the books I finish are to learn. No I am not a boring person I actually have a lot of fun in life but my mind gets bored reading if it is not thinking and learning.

Of course, it depends on the book and my free time. If I'm not very busy at work and not much occupied with family matters, I read one or even two books a week. But usually I am too busy, so I read one book much longer. At present I've just started reading "Angels and Demons" by D.Brown. A few months ago when I was very ill for one month, I read it in Polish very quickly. Now I'm enjoiyng the original version.

well I think in 2 weeks depending on the time and on the contents of the book itself. I do like books with pics on it like pictures of lovely foods. ; )

On my most recent vacation, I read 8 books in seven days (some of which were quite lengthy - even surprised myself_. I just couldn't get enough.
With real life figured in, I read from an average of two or three books to as few as one if it is lengthy and meaty. I am currently reading Ray Bradbury's 100 greatest stories and generally finish 3 - 5 per night. In other words, it varies greatly but is always an important part of my life.
This thread makes me think of the old Twighlight Zone story "Time Enough At Last" where the reader is saved and alone after a nuclear event and comes upon the ruins of a library. He is comforted that he will have "time enough at last" to do what he really enjoys - read... then he breaks his glasses. Very sad story. -
I always have a book 'on the go'. Can't say how many as it depends on how long they are, and how caught up in the story I am. But as soon as I finish one I'm ready to start on another.
I've probably failed to finish no more than 2 or 3 novels.
I re-read a lot as well.
And I do proof reading on Project Gutenberg, but that's pages rather than whole books so probably doesn't count.
I'm pretty sure I'm not doing my eyes any good with it all! -
I usually have at least 2 going at once and finish at least one a week.
I need to get my library card because I can't afford the book store habit anymore. -
Seeing as how I am a political blogger, I try my best to stay as informed as possible about what is going on in the world. Therefore a great deal of my reading is article length reading. I read between 5-7 news magazines a week and several business magazines. Then as for books I usually read 5-6 a month.
