Congratulations to weblogian for hitting 1000 hits in a day. A feat worthy of adulation.

His post got me thinking...

What's the highest amount of hits a BC member has reached in one day?

My highest is 2,320 in one day, with an average of 200 unique visitors a day.

Who's the big daddy of the BC World? Let us bow down to the masters of BC. :-)

Love to hear what your stats are like guys.

    >15 unless I chat my arse off in the discussion or do the entre card thing. then its about 25

    You put me to shame
  2. SolReka
    Hi keropidark

It is not an exercise of naming and shaming. We're all here to help one another.

I checked your blog out, here are some suggestions: -

    1) What is the core message of your blog?, set a topic and write specifically about that, once you have more readers, you then expand on the original subject matter.
    2) More pictures in posts. Pictures paint a thousand words. In every post I write I try to include eye catching pictures. It's a great way of luring your readers to, well read the post. They will then be more prone to writing a comment.
    3) Where are your social bookmarks? Addthis, stumble, technorati etc

I hope this helps, please let me know if I can be of any more assistance.

    Regards
    Sol
  3. keropidark
Thanks Sol, you helped me way back when I needed a layout.
1)Um,... I have no theme, it's a mixbag of my thoughts. I know that hinders but I just write what I feel.
2)I've been told pictures but to me it's distracting. I have enough things going on in the side bar. I have been trying to take that into consideration and as the consultation prize I have 1 pic for today. I made it! (squirmy smile)
3)I hear so much about stumble but what is that download thing about?

    thanks for looking out

READ THIS IF YOU ARE UNCLEAR ABOUT WHAT IS WHAT

average 3,500 a day hits, but the spec is sort of measningless, read the above link

    350 uniques at each blog

The big boys are coming out to play.

Nice stats acousticguitarist, we are not worthy :-)

Now it's time to suck your brains, and find out how we can all aspire to such dizzy heights.

      Do tell...

PS I guess your subject matter really helps, guitar tuition is always a winner. btw My Brother is the only UK winner of Google's Android prize. He's developed a guitar tuition device for the mobile phone www.splashplay.co.uk
    2. acousticguitarist
Not big boys at all. I've thought carefully about the way to work. I've only got it about 40% right but that 40% is still an advantage.

Just go and have a good look at what I do. Whenever I change or do anything I test.

Blogger is powerful, but I just can't work in that environment. I could probably get better results with Blogger but it's messy so I don't do much there.
    3. ModelElaine
      excellent info
  5. DrowseyMonkey
According to my statcounter, my average unique visits for last week was 244. My highest unique visitors in the past month was 477. I don't look at the # of hits.

@acoustic ... that's a good link, but my statcounter explains what it all means. I think most counters do don't they?
    1. acousticguitarist
no, the blog stat counters only output one piece of data.

The issue with hits is a page may be made up of 50 files, people get excited about lots of and might say I got 500 hits when all it has been is 10 visitors, including their mum best friend cat, a kid and a few spammers
    2. DrowseyMonkey
but the explanation it gives is the same as the one stat counter gives. so what's the diff? I mean my hits are usually double what the unique visitor total is, which is why I ignore the # of hits. They're just clicks in & out.
    3. SolReka
Statcounter, wordpress stats plugin and google analytics all do the job very nicely for me.
    4. weblogian
      DM I PM you
I am dying soon Can't stop laughing

I will let it go for sometime lol
    5. DrowseyMonkey
web - no I didn't think you got 1000 visits in a day. I know you meant a month.
    6. weblogian
      See above
    7. acousticguitarist
íf you read it closely it says that one page may be made up of a squillion files

1 unique visitor would = a squillion hits

The stats I'm talking about is what you find in the control panel of a hosted site. The other stat counter on a blog would probably be a reasonably close estimate of visitors.

in conversation people interchange hits with visitors and the terminology can be misleading
    8. acousticguitarist
and just to reitierate on the subject, drowsey it's not necessarily a 2 to 1 ratio it could be a lot different maybe 20 to 1, depending on the designer.
  6. SolReka
The unique visitors stat is the important one, not pageloads. Returning visitors is also a good indication of how your blog is doing.
  7. SolReka
weblogian, in your other post where you state you reached 1000 visitors in a day. Did you actually mean 1000 in a month? ref DrowseyMonkey's remark
    1. DrowseyMonkey
Yes, he says 1000 for the month ... in his post. He reached 1000 today, meaning 1000 for the month.
    2. weblogian
      Love to make that
      THSI IS WHAT I SAID
Well, I know this is very very less comparing with others.1000 is a landmark for me and Iam happy that some people are visiting my blog, and some on regular basis.

I started this blog www.weblogian.com/blog on July 12 2008 and its gonna be 1 month old soon.
      www.blogcatalog.com/discuss/entry/how-many-hits-do-you-receive-per-day-1
  8. SolReka
My apologies, either way congrats. It's a good feeling to know your blog is moving in the right direction.
  9. gingerbeer25
My highest hit day was 2,029 and I get on average 1100 per day.
  10. SolReka
Very nice, great stats. To hit 1000 a day is no mean feat.

Time to have a mooch at your blog Gingerbeer :-)
  11. Anniepooh
About 1000 a week right now.
  12. SolReka
    Gingerbeer - it's a blog about women's things :-)

The post The Anti-Rape Condom, Your Vagina And You, scared me :-)

Looks like you're onto a winner there, congrats
  13. howisbradley
So, if I get this right. Last week I had 942 unique visitors and 1625 pageviews. So the unique visitors is the number I really want to look at. Is that correct?
    1. Anniepooh
Yep-that's how many people hit on you
    2. howisbradley
I'm use to that. Being beautiful is such a curse.
    3. Anniepooh
      I can see that, Bradley.
  14. NatureRemains
If anyone would offer suggestions for me as how to increase traffic, I'd appreciate it.
I'm spending a bunch of time on my posts and not getting the number of readers I'd like.

I've tried to do the before-mentioned things--just doesn't seem to be working for me.
    1. howisbradley
      1. Good writing. Without it, nothing else matters
      2. This is a good place to hang out and make lots of comments
      3. Make sure you make lots of comments on other peoples blogs

Those are the best I can give.

Your photographs are beautiful, btw. Is there a niche market to really get a footing in first? Search for other photo blogs and focus all your comments there.
    2. DrowseyMonkey
You have a lot of wonderful photographs on your blog. I have a photoblog as well and have only now seen some traffic after joining skywatch friday and a few other things like that.

Edit: Here are the links. Just follow their instructions, put a link to your post ... and you'll get traffic. Of course, you have to visit the links too, but that's a lot of fun.

      skyley.blogspot.com/
      scenicsunday.blogspot.com/
      camera-critters.blogspot.com/
      tnchick.com/archives/1164

@Bradley ... the great thing about photoblogs is you don't have to write much of any content.
    3. SolReka
      More content Nina,.
You have written content for your earlier posts, however one post has Untitles for a title.

The title is THE most important thing to focus on, this is what draws people into your blog.

One of the most successful posts I wrote was all about the title and how I worded it.

Title - Could this be perpetual motion in action? - The Whipmag Overunity device.

This post alone drew many thousands of visitors. A contention and bold statement I know, but hey it worked. I got the result I wanted.

PS Beautiful pics on your blog, try to line the text up a bit more, so it's easier on the readers eye. Hope this helps
  15. gingerbeer25
Sorry if I scared you solReka...thanks though..I blog from a feminist perspective but I cover race, class, disability as well..To me I think the key is to be passionate about what ever it is you write.
    1. DrowseyMonkey
      You are scary
    2. SolReka
      Here here.

No point writing for the sake of writing. I wonder how many people set up a blog and expect to be a gazillionaire three months later :-)
    3. DrowseyMonkey
When I started blogging I didn't expect a lot of people to visit. I was surprised when they did and thrilled when they started commenting. It was exciting! lol And I don't do it to make money. I'd still blog if I only had a few visits a day, it's not about that ... I mean I make a fuss about it once in a while, but it's not really about that in the long run.
  16. xmarks
I'm around 40 - 50 visitors a day. I've been at it a month and put a few hours a day in promoting, so it is going up. I had almost 80 one day this week and was giddy the whole day.
    1. SolReka
Excellent stats for your first month. My first few months were very disappointing, so well done to you Sir
    2. xmarks
well that's 6 months of posting with only my wife stopping by. Then I figured out how to start getting some visits. More work to be done.

      thank you though
  17. gingerbeer25
@DM now you let my secret out LOL
  18. NatureRemains
Thanks for taking a look--the last few posts are mostly photos--more of my writing is in earlier posts.
I try to mix it up by posting a some which focus on more writing, some on more photos.

And I've been participating in Skywatch for about 6 months now, I think.
It's a great way to get exposure. But I'd like more visits on a more regular basis.
Maybe it just takes time. I'ma averaging between 80-90 unique visits/day.
    1. SolReka
80-90 is pretty good going. Just think how many hits you'd get if you wrote about the pictures.

Tell people about SkyWatch, explain how, why, where you took the photos. Get the readers to interact. Would you like them to talk about photgraphy or flowers, or both?

Define your goals, stick to them and watch your site blossom :-) Excuse the pun
  19. thoughtsofg
Not Enough. Well like 20 hits a day average I guess.
  20. sellytapgirl
It completely varies. Between 400 and 2000 unique visitors/day.
  21. NatureRemains
This may not be the discussion to answer this, but is anyone aware of how "Google images" retrieves images. I would assume it is linked to Blogger? So is there a way to label photos in order for google images to find them and count as a hit to the site?
I was hoping that if I improved my labeling of images, they'd create traffic, too?
    1. SolReka
Every photo I post I give the image a relevant name to the post eg world_ending_2012.png. I also include the alt tag and set the dimensions in the code.

This is how you optimize your pictures for google images.
  22. SolReka
    @sellytapgirl
And the big big boys are coming out to play :-)

We are definitely not worthy sellytapgirl

Looks like I might go about setting up a blog which talks about ballerinas. Trouble is I know nothing of the subject, and I'll probably get arrested for posting the wrong kind of pics :-)

2000 hits a day is fantastic. You are currently the Daddio of the BC forum. All hail our new leader :-)
    1. sellytapgirl
Notice the between 400 and 2000 part. EXAMPLE: I get about 2000 the day after episodes of So You Think You Can Dance, which I recap and critique. On other days, my average is 600. But Wednesdays Thursdays and Fridays are usually close to 2000. 300 is low for me. But, on some days, I'll get like 200 hits. Usually in the 400-600 range though.

      I just babbled seriously, didn't I?
  23. NatureRemains
Thanks, Sol, I'll try to make some adjustments.
And, Drowsey Monkey, too, for the links. Sounds like fun!
    1. SolReka
The pleasure was all mine Nina

Good luck, drop me a post or email and I'll have a read of your latest post. I want to be dazzled with great pictures, quality content and beautiful layout, design. (End of headmaster rant)

Now get to work young lady :-)

My friend Kevin, some guy named Binky, and Drowsey Monkey. It's a small but growing list.
  25. bidarlah
    i only wish.

at the mo, on average around 70 per day. hmm...
  26. velvethammer
My highest is 2,795. Daily average fluctuates. Could be from 300 to 600. Give or take.
Page hits always seem to double my (current average) single hit count.
  27. ModelElaine
How do you guys measure hits? I have google analytics and it shows only uniques. Am I not seeing something?
    1. acousticguitarist
      Elaine

On some Web servers stats it will say hits, don't worry about them they are meaningless, count your visitors.

      Reposted for you:

The issue with hits is a page may be made up of 50 files, people get excited about lots of and might say I got 500 hits when all it has been is 10 visitors, including their mum best friend cat, a kid and a few spammers
    2. ModelElaine
exactly. I just look at unique visitors. surprizingly I do not get many. Obviuosly there isn't much market for dating LOL
  28. HelloAnnie
Yes. Hits on awstats will not measure the amount of bots (like crawling ants passing wind) you might get.

Look at the unique visitors. My hits went down when I become more focus on search engines and drawing in unique visitors; the readers however go up, which is better.

You can read from your awstats (cpanel), if you check where these visitors will come from.
  29. chethan2k4
according to hi stats installed in my blog the max hits i received was 220.. hope my pr increases..
  30. Katanarama
hah mines like 100 because one day i had 280 visitors and its usually more like 10
  31. wenfri
The most uniques hits I have had in one day is 209
  32. SolReka
Many thanks for all your comments on this thread. It sounds like I am not alone in my endeavours for trying to having some presence in the blogging fraternity.

We all live and learn I guess. Isn't that what life's all about; learning?

Peace and love to everyone. Keep on trucking (typo), keep on blogging :-)
  33. Friday13
I get between two and six views per day. It's good, actually, because I don't have an audience waiting for me to post/reply
  34. SolReka
Many thanks guys for the excellent feedback received in this thread. It's interesting to see how 'others' do it. In the world of blogging I find it fascinating to see how people approach the subject of building traffic to the blog.

All in all, it looks like there's a plethora of blogs out there, all with different goals and objectives. I guess this is what makes the world such a beautiful place to live. Diversity certainly is the spice of life.

    Kind regards

    @JohnnyV
Show off :-) I'm only kidding, they are very impressive stats, congrats. How do you find the time to manage 3 blogs - is it your day job? I love the idea of blogging about the Nintendo Wii - write content on current affairs and hot gadgets. Bravo for catching that niche.

You put the rest of us to shame :-)
  37. thevagmaster
    20 to 50 a day. I wish that it were more. ~sniff~
  38. MadameX
It fluctuates from about 50 to about 40,000. Seriously.
    1. SolReka
      Hi madame X
      50-40k - Wow

Is this figure a total for all six of your blogs? Or just one of them. Either way it's pretty good going.

Kudos to you, now I'm feeling really crap about my pithy stats :-(
    2. MadameX
Well, each one falls in that range, Sol, but it's a big range...and it isn't as if one gets a lot of traffic and others less. Sometimes I'll have 1000-1500/day on a particular site for weeks at a time, other times I won't break 100 for a long stretch. I've only hit tens of thousands per day five or six times, each time targeted to a specific post.

I think consistency is probably more important than big splashes--if you have a couple of hundred predictable visitors each day with spikes from there, that probably means more than my 1200 today, 17 tomorrow kind of (non)pattern.
  39. mantiz
70 to 80 per day these days.. :/
  40. BlogBadly
Alright, my daily averages for BlogBadly.com are:

    432.24 uniques
    1165.88 pageviews
    7715.71 hits

My highest day was probably around 10,000 pageviews, but I'm too lazy to look.
    1. SolReka
      Howdy bud.
I have to say that I love your site blogbadly. It's well designed, the content is great and to boot, you have 157 loyal followers. Great stuff.

I'm now going to spend some time reading your blog in the futile hope of trying to find out how I can increase my earnings from 15cents a day from my blog to perhaps 50c, even 60c a day. What percentage of posts that you write are payperpost? I notice your latest post is promoting performance ads. Is this the way to go if I want to earn more from my blog?
  41. drjay1966
Thanks to acousticguitarist for the info--I feel much less inferior to my fellow bloggers now. (And forget all that stuff I said about kicking yer ass, panda)
  42. SolReka
    MadameX
I can but dream of hitting tens of thousands a day. Grrrrr :-)

Could you point us to a particular post/s you wrote which has pulled in such figures. Let's see how it should be done.

I agree that spiking is something I suffer from, I average 200 uniques a day, when I post a new article then it jumps significantly (for 3 days) then back down to 200. Sigh :-(
  43. jasonthebaldguy
how the heck do you guys get so many hits!?

I am on blogcatalog linkreferal and mybloglog and just joined stumbleupon and digg...

I am averaging 15-20 hits a day I am just dang glad someone is reading!
  44. cyberhome
I think it need work hard to get more traffic. Try to get more traffic at

Click on Add Your Link at leftside under Adsense.
  45. SolReka
Just to add to the malaise that is blogging and traffic, problogger wrote an interesting post discussing how to get advertisers to your blog. They start off by stating - 'once you reach 30k a month in traffic'.... wtf

Honestly, 30k, try 300 a day if I'm lucky. What's the point I keep asking myself. I did get 5k in one day though, which was nice. Just write a blog post and call it something like - Just had an alien over for lunch - see pics, or my Dad's Obama bin laden, or something catchy, that should get the punters flocking to your blog.

I am seriously considering ditching my blog, and starting a new one. It's a great new niche, one which no-one else talks about, and it should pull in more than 4 visitors a day....

New blog topic - Making money online. Hey no-one else is blogging about it. What do you reckon guys, am I onto a winner :-)

Hey, if you can't beat 'em, may as well join them I say.
  46. souldrift
About 100 page views a day, averaging about 50 visitors a day. Not great!
    1. SolReka
I feel your pain, it is a shame, you're not to blame :-) x

How long have you been blogging souldrift?
    2. souldrift
I started the blog in July 2007, but I stopped after a while. Only started again mid-December, so it's early days I suppose!
    3. timethief
Suggestion - work it! You have a wordpress[dot]com blog so put similar (related) music blogs you find on the wp tag pages on your blog surfer. Make a schedule and visit them regularly and comment. I'm thinking that it won't be long before buddypress is incorporated at wp[dot]com and that means it makes sense to get on top of the tag surfer potential you have for networking there right now.
    4. SolReka
Just visited your blog, so that's an average of 51 hits for today's average :-)

btw What are your keywords? May I suggest you bullet point your text for each post you write, make the reading experience more succinct and easier on the eye for the person dropping by.

PS You have a PR4 - grr, I'm not jealous... honest lol

About 50 per day. I am working on getting more folks but it's not working out to well. www.refrigeratorartonline.com
    1. SolReka
I hear you bud. It's a shame you have so few visitors, as your blog is very well done. Crisp, clean, and aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

One suggestion I could suggest. Being as your theme is refrigerator art, how about having the what's hot section dedicated to images only, have a virtual refrigerator there instead, and import cool pictures, products, and anything else people choose to put on the door of their fridge.

This would be a good funnel technique for drawing your viewers in.

Besides that, you are in the same boat I'm in, namely we both have niche markets.

Niche markets = small volume of visitors.

How about making money online with fridge magnets. Perhaps offer a blogging schedule fridge magnet.
    2. refrigeratorart
wow. thanks for the suggestions. I will try some of these.
  49. busylizzy
This is all so new to me. I have the Blog Catalog widget that shows me who from this community visits which is fun, and I have Feedjit which shows me what countries visitors are from which is kind of interesting. I am sure the number of hits and visits are very low for me but now you have me interested in some kind of counter (why not? my ebay auctions have a counter). So, can anyone recommend a counter that is free?
    1. SolReka
Use statcounter (do not show your counter to your visitors - it looks tacky, and it's also pointless.)

      Also use google analytics.

Another great stats tool ito use is a wordpress stats plugin - very useful for quickly analyzing traffic.
  50. winrock
On my old blog ekawaaz.wordpress.com i used to get abot 300 hits a day but now i moved to new domain www.ekawaaz.org its getting small hits as its only 3 days old. hoping some thing will trun around in few months...keeping finger cross

    *** Amendment to OP **

    - How many hits per day?
    - Highest number of hits in any one day?
    - Highest amount earned in one day from adsense?

Well, my new site (kixtrix.com), got 500+ visits on its first two months, and then 100 daily unique visitors on the months that followed.

    Pretty cool I think.

Far too few, less than 25 a day... But if you feel sorry for me, feel free to visit (and improve my stats!):

Second - ditch blogger, it's %$^$%. Use Wordpress. See other posts in BC for reasons why. There are two schools of thought regarding crapper, sorry I meant blogger.

Also, regarding your content, I am embarrassed to say that I am a Westerner. As such I would really enjoy reading about the daily life and goings on of a Taiwanese person, also the politics, oppression that you guys have to endure.

      Hi Henryjoe
Checked your blog out. I have to say that it seems somewhat cluttered. You have a 50/50 split with half the content dedicated to ads, plugins and what I feel is the pointless plugin - feedjit.

If you're making money from all those ads, then great. But as you pointed out you receive 10 hits a day, so money should not be an issue for you. Focus instead on building content and targeting your keywords.

You too are also using blogger, see above comment ref Blogger vs WP.

And finally, you are targetting an extremely aggresive market - MMO. Good luck with your venture.

PS Work on you content more, your daily niche idea is simply a hoplink exercise. Most bloggers are savvy to this method of ppc.

I only have around 100 visitors per day. But I'm not sure if they're unique..is there a way to check how many unique visitors were actually there?
