Usually 5-6 on days I work. And then 8-9 on days off. If I can get to bed before 1am I'm doing good.

I'm actually asleep right now. Yeah, I'm a very productive somnambulist.

It' so hard to plan for the future when you're so busy fixing what you screwed up yesterday. It's problems like this that govern my sleep patterns. Anywhere from 4 to 10 hours.

About seven, which is really life-altering for me because for the two years I was commuting I was getting by on about 4.5 and it wasn't working out that well for me.

Wow. I'm surprised at how many get so little sleep.

I've been having a really tough time because I'm working two jobs and hardly sleeping at all. I thought I would get use to it, but it's actually feeling worse instead of better. Sometimes I fall asleep at my desk and sometimes I won't drive because I think I'm so tired I'm impaired.

My lack of sleep (2-4hrs a night and I work 7 days a week) is due to work scheduling rather than insomnia these days.

I've been looking for ways to better cope with the sleep deprivation, ways to stay healthy in spite of it, ways to stay awake at important times, etc.

Any ideas? How do you do it?

Sleep deprivation can cause serious health problems. Although many people think they'll "catch up" the next night, this is a myth. Sleep lost is never "regained" elsewhen. My husband's an expert on neural biology, so we've had many enlightening discussions about such things. There are (of course,) many articles about this on the net these days, including this one; www.sleep-deprivation.com/articles/effects-of-sleep-deprivation/index.php
I can sympathize with you, however. Years ago I was both working & going to school full time. After about 6 months of it I had a serious mental break that took months to come back from. I'll never go that route again.

Indecision is the key to flexibility. Look at it this way and, while not accomplishing much, you will sleep better.

Thanks! I had a good chuckle reading that!~

    Here's a bit of trivia:

Movie actress Dolores del Río slept 16 hours a day to maintain her beauty.

      I'd rather have a life!
    2. fineartathome
You'd be lucky to have the life she had.

What matters is the QUALITY of sleep, not the QUANTITY of sleep. Go to sleeptreatment.com

I function best when I have had at least 10!
If I don't achieve that I am so grumpy!

for me, exactly the same as for KiraMarie: "5-6 on days I work. And then 8-9 on days off. If I can get to bed before 1am I'm doing good. "
Now is almost midnight and I still have a lot to work. If it happens to me to sleep to much I'm destroyed for the rest of the day
  42. Nickolove
I like to get 6 hours of good quality sleep.

However, if I've been travelling or have had
a pretty strenuous day I may need a bit more.
  43. nardeeisms

  50. calais50
I have different periods of sleep. For about 5 months straight, I will sleep 4-7 hours a night (average of 5). I have lots of energy and so many things I love to do. Then for 3 months straight, it is a struggle to stay awake until 9 pm so I will get about 8 hours.
  51. melisasriwulandari
    About 4-5. If I'm lucky.
  52. dued8jam
about 3-4 hours a day on Tuesdays-Friday and on Saturdays, a nap for 30min to 1 hour; Sundays, 18-20 hours straight and I will only get up the next day(Monday) afternoon to get ready to go to work.
