How many mobile phones do you have?
Experts say there are on average over 3 unused mobile phones in every home.
More than 80 million phones are discarded and over a billion new mobile phones are purchased every year.
There are estimated to be 250 million redundant mobile phones sitting in desk drawers gathering dust and it's also estimated half of those are discarded in landfill sites polluting the environment.
What do you do with your old or unused mobile phones? Do you throw them away?
Throwing mobile phones into the trash means they end up in landfill sites and the precious metals inside don't biodegrade and seep out into the water system contimanating the water supply for years to come.
Recycling mobile phones is the way to go as the metals inside can be re-used which helps the environment as mining for these metals can have a detrimental effect on certain ecological systems in the world such as the Congo rain forest where there are many undiscovered plants & animals that could help humans in the medicinal world.
Remember that before you go to throw your mobile phone in the bin!
