it was put to me in another thread the idea that there was a discrimination towards christians

to which my response was how can we discriminate to a majority?

So the question is, how many non-believers are on this board

you don't have to be opinionated, i'm just curious as to the number of people who would define themselves as a non-believer

If by 'non-believer' you mean atheist, then that would be me.

    Don't ya mean 'unbeliever'?

    un⋅be⋅liev⋅er

    –noun
    1. a person who does not believe.
    2. a person who does not accept any, or some particular, religious belief.

no i don't remember i said i don't believe that to be a correct word as it implies that you believed beforehand

there is a "How many atheists are here" some where. But I'm actually kind of offended by the phrasing Non believer. It sounds like you are implying that if we don't follow your religion, we are wrong.

On another thread, siralmo said by using the term 'unbeliever' instead of 'non-believer', I was in essence implying he's an infidel. To be honest, I haven't looked up the word 'infidel' on dictionary.com yet. I'm not entirely certain what it means.

      "as above"

You're right, siralmo. It was acousticguitar that made the comment that calling people 'unbelievers' is the equivalent of calling them infidels.

I guess I see the two of you joined at the hip. Haha

AcousticGuitarist is an interesting fellow, in part because he doesn't take sides in arguments unless he's the one starting one. I find that admirable.

I'm sure he is. The both of them were posting responses to me one behind the other, so that's what I meant.

Ya know, this whole thing is due to the fact that I stated that Christians (or the religious) have as much right to post their religious threads as anyone else has to post what they want, and if people don't want to read them, they certainly don't have to.

That's what I said on siralmo's thread, and then was simply responding to what was said to me.

      So peace, bro.

    Roll Call?

    Present sir..

I don't believe in religious stuff, and the way this God fellow has been described to me sounds suspiciously fictional.

I do not believe in the existence of god(s) or other invisible beings capable of magic.

That does not necessarily they do not exist, it merely means that empirical proof sufficient to induce me to believe in their existence has not yet been provided.

Not me, although I DO LOVE JESUS
    1. voodooKobra
Riiiight. Because this thread was totally an invitation to witness for your religion. /sarcasm
    2. hatingtherain
I have a religion? That's news to me.
    3. hatingtherain
I think you've mistaken MY sarcasm for devotion.
    4. voodooKobra
I didn't bother checking the username. Heh.
  8. MadAboutGifts
I would call myself agnostic rather than atheist

I dont believe it is about believers and non-believers. If one person hasn`t felt the experience of believing, then there is no reason in which you convince him/her to believe in something. The real question here would be... how much of you believe in faith and actually has it?
  10. Rory
I'm an atheist, cut and dry. To me faith or belief or whatever you want to call it is not an emotion, it's purely empirical.

"to which my response was how can we discriminate to a majority?"

Well, not to pick on you too much but the whites in South Africa were a minority and picked on their majority quite well. Likewise, one could claim that every Plutocracy (rule of wealthy people) on the face of the earth does essentially the same.

But as for whether there is specific discrimination against christians on this board, not really. There are a few people who do try to play games every once and a while but it certainly isn't systematic or the board in general. What discrimination does occur here is in their own heads. I'm not saying atheists are angels or innocent in general on this board but this particular crime has not been comitted.
