When I say "your own websites" I mean a website or websites that you actually purchased or own.

What are you doing to get traffic to these sites?

I own mine. I've redesigned it a few times.
    www.amyweber.net

I've tried to fight for the .com, but no luck.
    1. jansplanet
Very nice, Amy! Did you design it yourself? I'm really impressed! ~jan
    2. PetLvr
Geesh .. that's gotta suck. I've been online since 1995 and finally in 2003 I decided to register my name - and it was taken! Instead I went the other way, instead of choosing a .net or .info or .name etc ... 1800HART, callHART, HART-Empire, HART-Network, HART-Oscope .. and so on ... If you search for my name (even with out the initial) .. I've got the last laugh and all my sites shows up before the other guy
    3. DeadRooster
I registered my last name with a dot com but haven't done anything with it yet (lol I've had it since the mid 90's).
    4. stevestuff
Amy, Although a dot-com is said to be the preferred extension, search engines take no preference. Your site comes up 1st on Google for Amy Weber
    5. edgecrosser
      awesome website!
    6. AmyWeber
After about 5 years of fighting for it, I just go my www.amyweber.com
      url instead of .net.

      Hello Amy,

I love your website. I just bought two new domains. Do you have any suggestions for hosting services? Btw, my regular websites is www.sardamed.com. Its navigation friendly, but is in the process of a complete overall via my webmaster.

      Thanks,
      mb
  2. bloggernoob
u mean like...we own the domain and hosting? traffic is obtained in a variety of ways. BC gets me some traffic. so does entrecard. google gets me some traffic. etc
  3. Jeunelle
    Well done Amy.
And I must also say vavavavoooom girl. Good God.
I am checking out your site now. Looks nice.

Bloggernoob yes Own the domain, exactly.
The entrecard I will sign up for later.
I think I was to sign up somewhere in blogcatolog and it must of slipped me
to do so. Thanks for the reminder.
  4. Jeunelle
If you read up in the Apsense link above my add clearly asked for your own website and you won't believe how many people tried to slip me duplicate websites like blogger/blogspot,squidoo and a bunch of others.

I just don't think they understand the word "OWN".
Next time I will try to use the words "OWN DOMAIN".
  5. monkeytale
I lease mine from blogger, ideal terms yanno.
  6. Jeunelle
    Hahahaha
    Ok Mikster
    Get them terms crystal clear.

I have a bunch of domains that I haven't done anything with yet, and I've JUST started my first blog (about back pain) at www.backfaqs.com, and I've had a website for my massage practice for several years at www.ballardmassage.net.

As for traffic, well, I'm working on it... Being here is one of the things I'm doing ;-). Is it working? Dunno yet. ~jan
    1. Unfettered
Hey there, neighbor! Another Seattleite in the BC forums. Excellent

      Nice site, too.
  12. kab625
    Hi,
    I have a website: www.massageforadults.com

I actually have an SEO company managing the traffic issue. They maintain the site maps, codes and keywords making sure all is Google friendly.

I started my blog as another means to bring traffic to my site, but now it's turned into a bit more than that, at least regarding my time.

I use Yahoo Search marketing also for traffic and they've done a great job. I did use Google AdWords for a while, but they're really expensive.

I also think I would like to hire Clare and see if she could possibly "magnetize" some more traffic for me. (lol)
    1. Chrislag
I have my own site and it is targeted partly to people in my hometown community.

This means many readers do not even know what a "blog" is.

So it all about being search engine friendly. registering with google and yahoo. SEO (search engine optimizing) tools are a huge help in gaining readers
  13. exinco
yes this is my own purchase domain webringnet.com. host at my local country. just 44 days year old. free blogs? many.
  14. JoyChaser
I own my domain and hosting. The design is a free one I found somewhere, but it serves my purposes until I can come up with a unique design.

As to traffic, I get mine in a variety of ways: posting lots of comments on people's blogs, some from search engines, some from BC and other community sites like this.
  15. WebBlogger
I own ProBloggersMatrix.com. I am a strong believer in 100 percent ownership of your blogging website.

As for what I do to increase traffic to my blog (and this is an ongoing process that never ends), you can check out my 'Best of 2007' page to much of my content at:

  16. ttiger
i have a network of about 25 site (blog/site) and own about 200 domain name:-)
    1. PetLvr
Nice! Are your domains parked and actually earning its keep? I tried domaining but didn't have the skills to make a go out of it. Whenever I felt like I had a really great name and registered it - I just created a wordpress blog on it - to start and get some Pagerank onto it.
    2. ttiger
i own lots of cool domain names that are parked or for sale
im still thinking whats ill do with some of them leave them parked or do automated blog ? don't know yet
  17. PetLvr
I don't think anybody really owns anything on the internet .. except the backup copy that's on your computer. At any time, the server can crash and you lose everything, or after your hosting term period is up or you forget to renew your monthly hosting cost - you could risk losing all your data from the internet. And, as well .. if you forget to renew your domain .. you could lose everything on the internet and someone else could take control of that domain.

So, when people say that stuff on the internet is up there on the internet forever .. you obviously know that isn't true.

Well, that is .. except for the wayback archive machine... www.archive.org/index.php
  18. Jeunelle
WOW. I am having the best time reading up on all of you.
Thank you for taking the time to post a drop here.
Keep them coming guys & gals
  19. Rozie818
We are partners with a forum, that has it's own server.
we host most of our sites there
    swishit.com
    voguetemplates.com
    cellphonetherapy.com
    flowersinmotionny.com
    cafebouquet.com

and with a hosting on siteground.com we have
    in the works
    mamboinmotion.com
and which isn't active at the moment, but we own the domain
    ilovethecook.com

we plan on opening an adult site, a pet site, a design site and maybe one more we're tossing about

our blogs are just dry runs at the moment and are hosted on blogspot, but expect to blog up with every site we have sooner or later.
    1. jmarzo
The first domain sounds offensive. lol. Good one!
  20. Rozie818

I use Wordpress right now for blogs but I will be looking into owning my own blog website later.

Right now I own my own website at www.JeunelleFoster.com

It's a great feeling to know you own something.
    It makes you feel important.
Well at least I do. hehehee
I am just kidding guy's don't mind me. hehe

and I don't care who removed my last comment. Life goes on.

me, me, me I own many, too many haha
  25. dpivans1
I am really new to this whole blogging/internet thing...so stupidly I thought I did. I thought I had done this through blogspot. You know...create a domain and google hosts it. www.cravesfavsraves. Apparently google registered it (if I understand it correctly) and I'm just paying them for hosting...can't take it with me. Just figured this out today when I looked it up on godaddy...now I don't know what I will do...I'm certainly not going to bust my hump for years and years writing my little heart out for someone else to own the domain name.
  26. ID4ID4
    I own several.

    freesampleforager.com is my main site.
    lifeinemeraldisle.com is my newest one.
also a few other lesser sites.

I also am a co-owner of blogshares.com (fantasy stock shares game where blogs are the companies) and quacktrack.com (large categorized blog directory).
  27. Jeunelle
    Exactly Dpivans1

Don't feel bad about the blogging/internet thing.
I too am learning all about this website and internet stuff.

The reason why I wrote this discussion is because I am finding more and more people are just not aware that there is a difference between having a squidoo, blogspot/blogger site and a owned domain name or owned website.

Hopefully others will understand the difference if they happen
    to come to this discussion.
  28. Jeunelle
Guy's I must of purchased a bunch of other sites via Ebay
and I still haven't Upload them as yet.
I am trying to find a way to put them all into my main website at www.JeunelleFoster.com
I may have to find someone to do that for me because I am still computer illiterate. GOOD GOD.

  34. wandadog13
    Hi there - I/we own:

www.fabulousphotogifts.co.uk - personalised photo gifts which is run by my partner Mandy.

www.purple13.co.uk - abstract digital photo art of Mandy Collins - a 'hobby' site which you can buy art online from.

    www.abstract-art-prints.co.uk - a testing ground for purple 13 ideas

www.horsley-woodhouse.co.uk - a village community site that is pretty much defunct but good for back links to the above.

Traffic - the top two I do a lot of seo - social networking, blogging etc and we get nice steady traffic. A few of my blog articles have been copied or linked to from larger more popular sites/blogs and these always bring good traffic.

I design websites in my spare time - usually through recommendation - and have just finished a community magazine site for our area - www.allthingslocal.co.uk and we're currently optimising that ahead of issue 5 (it only went live 1st December 07).

I own my own domain. I used to have three, but, I am reducing it to one as I phase out my graphics business. They all pointed to the same place for the last three years anyway.
    www.artscapes.ca
I host my own blog on this domain as well using Wordpress software. What a learning curve for an artist! But it can be done. CSS is new to me as I did mostly print design and HTML. Nothing fancy! I had to hire out for programming... but now I think it's worth learning even for the programming challenged.
    www.artscapes.ca/blog/

As for traffic, I used manly word of mouth and old fashioned networking when the business was running. I got enough from just that. But now, with Blogging it's a whole new universe for me - and what I have learned so far, is SEO and communities like this one.

    Thanks for discussions like this!
    1. artscapes
I should also note that I used a WordPress theme for my blog. They are easily modified even for the technically challenged!
  36. ayouthofvalour
i own my own. mastersofseo.com It tells how to make money and get traffic on the internet. I get traffic from entrecard, stumble, and here, among other places.
  37. Crackerbob
    I own www.fortheloveofcomics.com

I've been getting traffic the old-fashioned way, mostly. The vast majority of my traffic comes from google searches - I guess I have good keywords and dialed in on some things people would be curious about in comics. I also get alot of traffic from being linked elsewhere. I just started doing the whole social networking thing, hopefully it will start driving some traffic soon, too.
  38. girlgonefishing
Yes, I own a .com site. I just got it a few weeks ago and I just put whatever up there for until I get a template and get it set up. At this moment, I have 159 visitors since I put a counter on there this past weekend. That's without advertising it one bit. Guess I chose a good name. I really wish I knew how to develop a good site for it. Right now, it's just down right embarrasing. Can someone help with it?

    www.extremeredneck.com
    1. gosmelltheflowers
That is a fun name. You could definitely get a lot out of that domain if you hit on a good idea.

    Gosh Guy's this is great.
Keep them coming. I will pop in and view them all,

  40. ImBloggingThat
I own more than 30 domain names. Some in use, some not.

For my blogs, a site I "own" is the only way to go. Most times, I don't even visit blogs that are hosted on free sites.

To promote my blogs, I network and comment on other blogs.

I "own" my website domain www.ImaNicePerson.com

I was able to create the site with NO code experience because I used a good hosting company with a lot of ready to use software applications. I actually created a Squidoo lens showing how to create your own. It's easier than you would think and it gives you more control over what you can add.

Also, I've created my YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/profile?user=dedlen, to show a bit of the process.

Mawbooks, I noticed that you have set up your blog as a subdomain. Do you feel there is a benefit to setting it up that way, (for SEO reasons) as opposed to having it as a page of the core main domain name, like I have mine? Just curious?

Me! I've owned a site for five years, and now I've parked a blog over it.

My blog -- www.mythphile.com -- has gotten about 650 visitors in its first month. I'm sure real gurus could do better, but that makes me happy.

For what it's worth, I've bookmarked 15 free SEO tools, articles, sites and/or tutorials which I personally have found useful, and which I refer back to whenever I get the urge to try and boost traffic. I've posted my bookmarks in a public folder here:

I especially recommend the "15-minute SEO" page listed there.

  88. Norski
I own all my websites, using your definition.

My blogs, no: and right now I don't have the budget to do so. Someday, when traffic is high enough to justify the change, maybe.

I use 'SEO' to increase traffic: social networking (like this - it's a grand bonus to the good company); tightly-written content (for the most part, I hope), with keywords used - when appropriate!

    Basically: Making well-designed pages, text-rich, well-written content.

I'd like to do pay-per-click, but that's out of budget now.

For that matter, I'd like to do 60-second commercial during the next Super Bowl. Not gonna happen.

Now, with an opportunity like this, I can't resist naming my top three websites:

    * www.brendans-island.com/ (Brendan's Island - life in Small Town America)
    * www.brianhgill.com/ (The Brian H. Gill Company's website, with links to everything else I do - and very much a work in progress
    * www.minnwebwise.com/ (Minnesota for Web-Wise Travelers - Destinations and Diversions in Minnesota)
  89. DeadRooster
    I own mine: www.deadrooster.com

I don't do anything special to get traffic--people just magically show up somehow.
  90. zackharis
    Mine is zacksays.com
I just started doing it and now trying to optimise it.

my other website are all getting traffic from organic searches.
    1. Norski
Viva organic searches. From a cash-flow point of view, they can't be beat. IMHO
  91. destiny911
I own a few .. most lay dormant as I don't have enough time to develop them all. I like having the idea ... having the time to implement them all is the problem. grrr
    1. Jeunelle
      Deadrooster.com now that is catchy.

destiny911 this is one problem I am having too.
Hopefully I'll get that fixed by the end of this year.
  92. dynn
    i own a few..
    1. Jeunelle
      Good to know dynn
I was hoping you would post the links
so we could take a peek. BUMMER
  93. EcoInsomniac
I own www.EcoInsomniac.com and I run www.Chezlin.com for my girlfriend the crafter. I own a few others that are in development as well.
  94. baldeagle
I own close to 100 domains.

    I have seven active site:
www.eaglepost.net (includes .info) has about 600 members, 250K pageviews per month.

www.whodowethinkweare.net - A low volume blog about sports.

www.baldeagleblogs.com - My blog about blogging

    www.fatbastard.org - My fitness challenge

www.nothingfits.org - My girlfriend's companion site for fat bastard (we're in this together)

www.fightinterest.com - A blog on personal finance (new and slow to develop)

www.baldeagleloans.com - A site I used to market personal loans (I used to lend money over the Internet but got out just as things were turning south)

There are several others that were either partially developed and left for dead or I'm waiting on the inspiration to build out.
  95. momscrazylife
I own 40, but only write 1 as of right now.
    www.momscrazylife.com
and I still can't manage to get a PR
  96. Jeunelle
baldeagle and momscrazylife wow and I thought I was busy. How do you do it?
  97. machinehuman
I own mine, but I don't do too much to get traffic. Some science freaks, a couple of nerds and a few philosophers, besides the good people from BC, visit it quite often. I prefer to pay for my site because, besides Tumblr, I don't like the free services available. This does not mean that Blogger and Wordpress blogs are not good, please... Some of them are really amazing, but I prefer total freedom to manipulate my code and my database. I also prefer to use Ruby or Python and there aren't free services for them (yet). Oh, there is Heroku, but it does not offer C extensions support.
    1. Jeunelle
I agree humanmachine I actually do love Wordpress and own two beautiful themes.
Plus adding a wordpress forum on the site for traffic is one of the safest I know of and a smart move to increase traffic to the site but you got to be careful with forums as some are easier to crack and a hacker can get into your site this way.
  98. Svelmoe
Own it, but have it hosted at hosting company instead of having to mess about with servers myself.
    1. Svelmoe
Update - bought another and also own the .eu version of one of the sites.
  99. VampireFaust
I own my site www.gabriellefaust.com. I try to visit a ton of blogs each week and leave comments. I also have banners on certain pages directing traffic to it.
  100. ichaduma
Yes! Please stop by at journal.marisaduma.net
As to traffic, I've been relying more on organic Google searches and personal network.
  101. timethief
I own two domains but they are "virginal" i.e. advertising free. I make no effort whatsoever to promote traffic to them as they are for my personal blogs. Neither one of them is registered here at BC and, I'm not sure if I will do that in the future or not. Thanks for asking.
    1. Jeunelle
Yeah I too have a bunch I purchased a while ago from Ebay that I haven't even started to mess with as yet. Hopefully I will get to it soon.
  102. shoppingkharma
I own my own websites: www.shoppingkharma.com and
www.shopkharmaestore.com to raise funds for researching alternative and holistic approaches to many deadly diseases such as Cancer, Alzheimers, in order to save more lives or prolong lives.
  103. loredan
I own about 350 websites and also manage about 60 of my clients websites...a lot of damn work
    1. Jeunelle
Good God how do you do it loredan?
350 I almost fainted when I saw that number.
Yes that is a lot of damn work, you must sleep on your computer. lmao
  104. loredan
Well Jeunelle, imagine I'm not just by myself managing all those...Some of my staff is working on them as well
  105. prosperewebitor
I own the domain names for both my blogs, www.prospere-magazine.com and www.shorty-stories.com

I've had the former up since October and the latter since 2006.
  106. blogger
Scores of sites and about 4 servers with over 1500 client sites. Several employees and 2 partners. Life is good.
  107. Nesianstyle
Probably 20+ sites, lost count, most of them being affiliate sites and 60 + domains.......I'm such a horder!
  108. auburn28
Hard to maintain even only got one site
  109. hepp2
Well, I own many domains but the sites that I own that are up and running are www.interfundcapital.net and www.china-fund.com and www.india-fund.net and www.dubai-fund.net and www.doha-fund.com The Doha site is only 72 hours. Please drop by! Have a great weekend!
  110. Carrizo
I do not own, if You mean it concretely, but "made by me" than I have my own.

My home pages (in English, French, Spanish and Finnish):

    personal.inet.fi/koti/sir.vili/

    My garden pages in French:

    personal.inet.fi/luonto/puutarha.fani/francais/

My car pages (in English, French, Spanish and Finnish):

    personal.inet.fi/koti/auto.fani/Opc/index.htm

As You see I have quite active.
  111. Jeunelle
More power to you guy's. I am still trying to keep up with my two domains.
The others I haven't even attempted to work on as yet, too lazy.
  112. looseink
Hmmm, if we are including blogs...I own 5 websites, 8 blogs and will likely add more before the year is over.
  113. kush86
    I own 2 websites, 2 blogs, and 50% owner of www.bidjunk.com
    1. Jeunelle
      Nice going kush86 and looseink.
I have a new one still working on but listed at MyBlogLog. www.SocialNetworkersandBloggers.com
  114. Hummie
I own www.hummiesworld.com I find that active blogging brings me traffic through searches. The more information of good content that brings readers, the more traffic.
  115. Jeunelle
    Great job Hummie
  116. wenfri
I do now but it is all broken

When I get fixed I will come back and post again
    1. Jeunelle
Broken Oh no what happened Wendy?
Gosh I hope you didn't loose all your content.

stockhola looks like your busy. Good God.
BL I hope it's all yours. hahaha
Cooper I believe that's correct but then again what do I know?
  117. stockhola
I own a few if not to many lol,
    www.visitmaniac.com - Traffic exchange
www.commentyuwie.com - Yuwie social networking fun web site
www.stockhola.com -- Blog about the US stock market and information about IRA's 401ks etc
www.onlinemarketingboard.com -- Marketing forum where you can promote you blog or business and connect with others
    1. cabucgayanbiliran
pls let me know on how to earn some cash online.
  118. cooper
Anyone that self hosts a blog owns there own website right
    ?
  119. eddiecon
i have a few hundred sites, about a dozen blogs, but spend most of my time working on: www.cashthechecks.com
  120. cheahch
I own my blog at www.mywisewife.com and a couple of others which are free sites. I like to design, program and the control I have on my own sites. It is my toy.. and I enjoyed writing, setting and playing with it...
  121. Lucyvp
I am a serial website starter. I think we must have registered at least 30 different domain names. Someone once offered us out of the blue $1000 for needyorgreedy.com. It was then that we realised how a good name could be very valuable.

We hire server space and park our domains on there.

I came up with the name wafflelogue.com after seeing a travelogue. Seeing as I tend to waffle on (this post is demonstrates it) I decided to make a wafflelogue.com. I like seeing just that name up there in the url space, without .blogspot or wordpress or whatever after it.
  122. husla3x
    ghettobillgates.com
42fy.com I got like 100 domains and like 20 sites.

But i don't really know what i am doing yet.
  123. Jeunelle
Nice going Stockhola, BL, Cheahch, Lucyvp and husla3x.
Cooper I would have to say YES on that one.
You can self host your blog and own it but please read the TOS so that your blog is not deleted.
I had used Wordpress but mine got deleted because I was not hosting it on my own server,
I did not own the wordpress blog, plus I violated their TOS.
I now purchased my Wordpress websites, own them and run them on my own chosen server.
I hope this answers your question.
  124. hellasound
Yep, I own my own: www.HellaSound.com

Bought the domain, got the hosting, designed the site, built the site (using ExpressionEngine, which is a really fantastic, flexible tool). I'm also presently contributing to creating some the music we sell as well.

For traffic, I'm trying to get as much good, useful content up. I tried to code it so it's as SEO-ed as possible, and I'm getting some good love from organic Google and Yahoo searches.
I'm also making friends with folks on StumbleUpon, and am on Twitter all the time. Well, whenever Twitter's up, I'm on it

My overall plan is to grow traffic organically and as naturally as possible, and build links with sites where it makes sense.

    John at Hella Sound

  125. creative666
I own my own sites, I have 7. My photoblog is on my digital camera site www.print-digital.info.

The site has been live for 4 years and a lot of SEO has been done to date.
  126. AainaA
I used to have more than ten until one day I decided I had to seriously focus on less than that to ensure things went well. When you first start out you tend to have a hyper-active imagination to ideas - its best to focus and work at max three and make it really good.

    www.AainaA.com
  127. barryfromtexas
I own 8 domains - most similar, but I concentrate on 2, and when you know the traffic secret, tell me

    beyourowndetective.net also .info .us. .biz

    http:// intl-advisors.com

    and a few others
  128. kashifmahmood
I own mine which you can visit at www.kashifblog.com

I use various methods for getting traffic to my website some of them are :

    - Social bookmarking
    - Social networking
    - Directory Submission
    - Article submission
    - Other blogs
    - SEO
    - Traffic from forums signature links ( about 20-50 per day )
    - And other gray hat methods

    Regards
    Kashif.
  129. wenfri
    Me do too now.

Still working out the bugs but getting there

    wendysreel.com

Scoot your butt over there and add yourself to my reader

    What the heck is that

I have to be a member to post a comment on your site??
    Well I never!!
  130. richrf
I've registered Links.com since 1995. Didn't do much with it until about a year ago. Right now I am running Wordpress and thinking of switching to the Revolution News theme to give me more latitude in what I write:

    www.revolutiontheme.com/news/

But I am always looking for new ideas. I do the usual Wordpress SEO to get my SERP rankings up, but competition is tough.
  131. genopianist54
I just move to a dot com for a month now
    www.chroniclesoftrisna.com/
    the tagline is
When a main life requires a good argument...
    1. kush86
She meant own your own domain not using a free blog services.
  132. huggingthecoast
I own www.huggingthecoast.com which is a coastal food and travel blog which is updated daily.

My wife owns 2 other active domain names and does the coding and updating on those sites.
  133. gerasbloggas
I own gerasbloggas.com. But im still using blogger templates. Have no time for webdesigning.
  134. thenibblers
    We own www.gentlenibbles.com

We own a couple of other domains, but this is our only focus at the time, as it is a subject near and dear to our hearts!!!
  135. accidentalsexiness
I own two domains and don't know how to work either of them! Right now I use a free wordpress one.
    1. binoyxj
I shall use it gime please i dont have a domain........

  138. opinionstreams
    Yup, Jeunelle, still going....

    I own my own website - opinionstreams.com
  139. shadow626
i own mine.. www.joenelumal.com what's so amazing Jeunelle?
  140. psychosolodiver
Yes, of course I own mine! Who would put all the time and effort in to content and risk being deleted for "violations of terms and service?"

    psychosolodiver.com

My traffic comes from here and search engines.
  141. Jeunelle
Guy's I am in awe. I guess I just expected to receive a few comments, nothing more
but I am surprised to see this discussion still running like the Energizer bunny. lmao
  142. AdventureArtTravel
I own www.art-adventure-travel.co.uk I have just been creating it to practice using Wordpress.

Most of my traffic comes from Google, I have been surprised how often it gets indexed and how high some of the articles rank. For example I wrote a small note about the new rides at Legoland in the UK and it now ranks number one in Google for "children legoland".

I have found a lot of traffic from blogcatalog also, I think because I always visit the sites of anyone you visits mine.
  143. Dovasary
I own all my own sites. I have my own dedicated server for mine, so I don't pay hosting, just the server bill. I own:
    www.theotakublog.com
    www.cruinne.com
    www.themerc.info
    www.meruku.net

and probably near the end of the year I will start developing my newest project www.moementaiko.com
  144. Rickety
I bought www.rickety.us. It is really inexpensive to do this. $10 a year for the domain and I pay $7 a month for web hosting. Load on Wordpress and Zen Photo using SimpleScript to do it for you and off you go.
  145. MadameX
I own a handful of domains, currently have three or four hosted, and one is active...but all of my blogs are on blogspot.
  146. Sneakyheathen
I own three - Diligent Design, my personal blog, and my portfolio. I'm trying to sell of my fourth domain.
  147. michelconrad
I do not own any website, but therefore I have made two websites, about my work of poet, thanks to Google :

    michel.conrad.googlepages.com/
    michelconrad.blogspot.com/
  148. bghouse
I host my own blog a www.shutterbugsource.com. Mostly because I wanted the flexibility that didn't come with having it hosted for me.
  149. ttiger
ive like 40 domains name for sale for those whose are interrested
  150. poisonapplesauce
I own seven and only one two are functional since they are stores. Then I officially affiliated with myname dot net, but my former agent actually owns it. Wish he'd delete it. Ironically none are for blogging lol

As for traffic on the two business ones, I put print adds in gossip and finance magazines and then of course the all mighty google
  151. kidsfreesouls
    I own mine...all since years!
  152. hyderabadiz
I am sure most have understood the question. I would imply as author of the content / owner of the content. Some have taken it to mean (ownership as) responsible for designing the website, hosting, domain name, etc. And, the responses are still coming in. Best wishes.
  153. JewishAngle
I have webspace through my former and current ISPs. One of my two websites just uses a basic url www.mindspring.com/~dbholzel/1001.html I plan on registering for a domain name for it.

My other site does have a domain name www.franklinpierce.us
  154. MikeKL
Yes, I own the domain and content at www.makingdollars4u.com

I've done a far bit of SEO (keywords, optimizing page titles, etc) and have written quite a few articles on sites like EzineArticles. This is one of the best ways to drive traffic to your site. I visit business related blog sites and post comments leaving my website link. Essentially it's following viral marketing principles.
  155. dosox
Oh... am planning to have one soon... but i wonder what will be the next step for me (i just don't know yet)
Well i am getting on with www.macidingdoson.co.nr for some time.
  156. satijournal
I bought benhoffmancartoons.com but haven't moved in yet.
  157. aminhers
I own one, but I try another blog
    aminhers.wordpress.com/
  158. Sebastyne
    I own several domains;

    www.sebastyne.net
    www.sebastyne.com
    www.thebdoll.com
    www.fieldspanieli.com

And then some not worth mentioning at their current state. As for extensions, I somehow have a fondness of .net, but since people tend to take .com's more seriously I've got more of those these days.
  159. chrisskoyles
    www.chrisskoyles.com , that's my own website.
www.socialicons.co.uk - Is a site I designed for the band.
  160. lastingchange
Aside from my blog (which is wordpress hosted with my domain), I designed/built my own website for my hypnotherapy practice here: www.lastingchange.co.uk - I'm no graphic designer but I think I've learned enough to hack together a half-decent site - check it out!

    Cheers,

    Adrian
    1. ooozzzie
Just emailed you Adrian via the form on your website.
  161. ooozzzie
I own my website www.hypnotherapy-online.co.uk but I don't have access to amend it. It was designed over 5 years ago. So the idea is to promote my blog hypnotherapy-online.blogspot.com with direct links to the website. Promotion of the blog being much easier to achieve, ......soon anyway I hope LOL.
  162. jacotaviationart
We started our own website to sell pen and ink drawings and went with yahoo, but only because we were not familiar with how to make a website. Yahoo customer service was available without long waits when we needed help with the site. It's up and running and doing well for now. Check out our website: jacotaviationart.com and let us know how you like it.
  163. pinklatex
Pinklatex owns our website. It is usually me on here, Bettie, so yeah, kinda, I guess I kinda own it.
  164. FarsightedGirl
I own my own domain: www.rosalindcummingsyeates.com. Since I'm a freelance writer, it's important to have a website to showcase your work. My blog is on the site and I get most of my traffic from blogcatalog, mybloglog, social networking and google.
  165. Blogulucostel
    It's expenseive, and I love blogger.com! So, I don't invest in domain.
  166. ernestlobo
I own www.i-individual.com although i have absolutely no idea what to do with it as of now.
  167. TOMDDiary
I own all my websites which total 10 sites but all are in the beginning stages.
  168. RunningWolf
I have my blog on my own domain: rwrant.co.za
  169. namibnat
I have www.frantic-naturalist.com which is the website of my Namibian Safari company.
  170. mikodragonfly
I own www.tonyamoore.com. It was more a spur of the moment decision than anything else. I already had www.escape-ism.com - but also wanted a personal site. On a whim, I checked to see if my name was available (which it hasn't been a couple of years earlier) - since then, I've been spurred use it as a means to focus more on my writing, etc.
As far as traffic goes, I've submitted my site to several directories and listings , exchanged links with friends. Pretty much all of the basic, non-invasive stuff, I'd say.
  171. kikolani
I own kikolani.com. I came up with the name using a combination of my middle name + my grandmother's name. I thought it was unique, but someone sent me a message the other day that their name was Kikolani. It was interesting.
  172. kirat92
i own kiratsingh.com though i havent transferred my blog on it as yet because i havent quite figured out how to do that...

    otherwise i blog on kirat92.blogspot.com
  173. Momzilla
Yes, this thread is still running. I have several domains, including my own name, and a domain name redirected to my Blogger blog at www.workathomeschooltoo.com and a domain and hosting account for www.moreincomeonline.com - pretty much all my sites run through framesets hosted on moreincomeonline. I won't list them all, I think I have 56 domain names.
  174. skinski
I now have www.mypokerblues.com/ to go along with www.houseofpokerblues.com/ . I'm still learning..just bought the latest edition of SEO for Dummies to try and learn more on how to get more search engine traffic.
  175. Jeunelle
I am still surprised that this discussion is still going strong.
Good for you, I hope to pay you all a visit some time

Yes i own mine too and find that this website has all the tool you need to build a website and most of all you get google adwords for free.

    www.sitesell.com/monitize.html
  179. blackzero85
I don't have my own... blogspot (eternalblackzero.blogspot.com) is free and that's all I can afford. So sad...really sad.
  180. Phillyzero
    Yeah, blackrussiancomics.com

It's almost a month old now, I get trickling (but consistent) traffic from webcomic directories and blog directories.

My main source of traffic has been youtube and stumbleupon. Out of the past 30 days, I've hit over 100 unique visits in a day four times (400, 180, 114, and today is somewhere around 200) solely because of youtube and stumbleupon.
  181. Shelives2write
After a nightmare with a bill that was only supposed to be $10 I own one of my sites www.survivingmusicianhood.com ... I don't regret it now though
  182. starcasm
Starcasm.net is completely owned by us. We tried to get starcasm.com, but didn't have the 10k
  183. imt3ss4
dailywhispers.com --- I own the domain but have it hosted on blogger. I couldn't make up my mind yet whether to apply a hosting for it since it's going to cost more... so temporarily, it's hosted on blogger.

about the traffic, well, mostly I counterdrop ECs, that's what keeps my traffic increasing but its not that good since, I think more people drop and run rather than read the contents of the blog... I also surf some blog directories and find interesting reads, if I like an entry, I comment... some usually countervisit/countercomment
  184. Bayho
i dont personally own my own.. but i work for a company that does and i manage it.. i aslo deal with the costumers so yeah ive learned aliot.. all thoise computer classes i took in highschool paid off.. because i remember when i took them i never though i would need to make a website..im just relly good with computers.. which comes in handy i will admit.

www.paulbaines.co.uk - my art site - very quiet
www.artshout.net - live arts community of one - perlease join!!

  192. Kasumi
I moved mine last week from Wordpress to it's own domain

    www.kasumiseo.co.uk

It took a slight knock initially but is recovering well.
  193. BigMoneyGrip
I own a website that I plan to build. I think I might need some help. I'm still building on my business. I'm doing event promotion. Building a website is not as easy as I thought. But it will eventually come together. My website is www.downhomeenterprises.com

  200. KiefersCorner
I own my own, and created and designed it myself. Learning HTML code was a little challenging since I am a computer dummy.

As for generating traffic I am currently standing topless on as many websites as I can, hoping to get picked up LOL.

Dam forgot to tell you its at kieferscorner.com
  201. stevemiller
I've "owned" www.stevemillersband.com since 1997 or so. I've got it listed with a number of wesites that followed game designers and roleplaying games, the field I used to work in. I also make sure that when I make pages, I populate the headers and meta-tags.

Beyond that, I don't do a whole lot of promotion. (I'm not active in the field anymore, and my current job doesn't require any self-promotion. (But you're all still welcome at my website. I stll update regularly, and my movie review blog is updated pretty much daily. )

  204. BikiniHotline
Some very nice sites. I own my site www.bikini-hotline.com. However, it is hosted by Storesonline. I designed it and learned pretty much everything as I was building it. Although I still have much to learn.

As far as traffic is concerned, I receive much of it through Stumble Upon and Tag Alley. My blog www.bikiniattitude.com is also generating some good leads. I am trying to participate in some credible forums, which through time, will also bring about traffic.
  205. ceo08
    I have my own: www.presentcompanyincluded.com

I designed my own site The G&R Group.com at first I built it all in flash but it was a pain to update. The newsite is a hybrid of Flash and Wordpress. Now it is super easy to update. What i'm doing to get traffic.

    1. integrated my blog into the site
    2. connect with other bloggers
    3. just added google connect to my site. ( allowing visitors to join
    my site)
    4. Starting to hold contests.

  213. cotinine
I own three different websites, I've owned my own domain names for nearly 10 years.

Best way to get traffic is hard work. Find other sites that you're genuinely interested in and comment. Join sites like this. Get your site reviewed on sites like blogged.com, join message boards that are on topics that you're interested in.

Really, you want actual readers and not just random clicks onto your page. That's what makes it worth while.
    1. marjakathriver
I totally agree with what you're saying here. I've seen similar blogs to mine that have more links or traffic in general, but I get a lot more comments and participation in my blog carnival, etc. That means a lot to me because I feel we've formed a supportive community.
  214. ophase
I purchased domain names and made so many websites for various companies.
I sold these sites/portals with their corparation identities to relevant officials.
So no need to promote them here.
All i want to show is to make a good impression on you, Jeunelle
    It's all for you
  215. davedol
It’s so cheap and easy to set up a blog; there should be no reason why anyone/everyone should not own their own site. The downside is it’s hard to get noticed in the glut. Divine intervention might help some sites. Is there a saint for bloggers?
  216. talk2santosh
New one added to my list. Search for TwitDiscount...
  217. preaxz
I always feel happy when someone ask something about this so I can proudly write a link in my post without worrying that it would not be appropriate.

    www.bonusnetwork.blogspot.com
    1. marjakathriver
Have you thought about founding/creating a blog carnival? Go to www.blogcarnival.com and check out the carnivals there. It's a commitment to maintain a carnival. But, a true carnival travels around from blog to blog, so you could have a different edition host each month. Blog carnivals have really helped me with my blog readership.
  220. lovesome1
I purchased one for my business that I just started, its a home health care agency. but I haven't started on it yet.
  221. preaxz

  222. ha429rout
Good luck! Anyone think I could sell freetvs.net for a good amount of $$$?
  223. marjakathriver
I have www.survivorscanthrive.com. I get a lot of traffic from Google searches. I think when survivors of abuse, etc. are hurting, they do a Google search to find some resources and support. I also blog at survivorscanthrive.blogspot.com. The Blogger community is large and pretty supportive. Even though this service is free, I get a lot more traffic on it than on my dot com site.
  224. avecchioni
    I own my site:
