   I mean what exactly does google connect connect you to? Google doesnt really have a social network do they?
   
   I think it would be more beneficial to you to use a avatar type of recent visitors thing that actually has a social network behind it.

    As Google Friend Connect's biggest flag waver, I have to say this is completely of future of blog promotion and HOW to get ranked highly in Google.
    
    Just a quick heads up, the new social features in YouTube, that is GFC. It does not show it readily though. I, with my extreme knowledge can tell you it is. Just look back to the Blogger Followers widget, I told everyone in Sept. 2008 that was really GFC and now it is.
    
    Second, get ranked for a search term in YouTube, at #1 or #2 and you will almost always get the video ranked top ten in Google search for the same term.
    
    Third, YouTube rankings are almost totally based on social interaction indicators. I will let you decide where Google is going with this.
    
    This is the kind of stuff I teach in my members site and of course there is tons of free tutorials on my blog. Misty, good to see you here.

    Kooies, just joined your blog thru GFC, one thing though. You will get more GFC members if your move the widget up the side bar, it will also lower your bounce rate which Google uses as a major indicator in blog quality ratings.

    As far as how many use GFC, hard to tell.
    
    Since the introduction of the Following feature on Blogger, it has been adopted by nearly three million blogs, with someone following a new blog every second. That stat is from Feb. 09.
    
    So double that number to cover the stand alone blogs.
    
    What makes those numbers irrelevant is that the Blog's topics vary so the members are not targeted.

    I had it on my blogspot blog but was about to delete it since very few of my 'friends' & visitors seem to sign up or have on their blogs. That changed when Google incorporated the followers widget --- the bottom of your dashboard lists all blogs you follow, a reading list:
    "Welcome to the Reading List. Here are all the updates from any blogs you follow and sites you've joined using Google FriendConnect."
    
    Now I see people connecting and I also join more blogs that I like when I see the gadget.
