Okay, I'm completely addicted. Roughly four (hundred) times a day, I check to see how many people have been to my blog. I'm curious about two things, mostly from those whose blogs have been established for some time.

1) Does one continue to obsess about how many visitors come to a blogger's site each day, or does it wear off over time?

2) How much has your daily blog traffic increased since you first started your blog? Compare, say, your first month to this month.

I didnt until I had to sign back in after signing up my daughter and noticed them on the front page.

I set a time to check who visits my blogs about every other day. If I had my way I know I'd always check it and probably WOULD obsess about the results!

    Per second.

      That was good.

Hmmm, live update but that gets boring watching the different country's flags pop up. It's like watching paint dry.

    2, 3 times a month

I look at my statcounter a few times a day. I like labeling visitors (i.e. if I see someone has made a comment at a specific time) and then seeing when they come back.

Very big increase in # of visitors over the past few months.

    I check stats daily.

And I have around 150 visitors daily. I think I started at zero traffic about a year ago, but maybe it was like 20-30 visits a day for the first several months.

Use to check them all time but now its like 2-3 times a week.

    1. If you're the obsessive type like me, it gets worse and worse. I really need to get a real life.

    2. I've had a pretty good increase in traffic lately. I'm glad, but it's not helping my quest for a real life.

To what do you attribute the recent increase?

Probably just participating a little more here on blogcatalog and on the blogger forum. I also post a note on facebook when I've got a new blog post. That helps drive a little traffic.

I don't obsess at all about visitors or blog traffic. I love when someone, some individual, tells me they enjoyed my writing and felt moved or comforted or stimulated by something I said. If I obsess about anything, it's the writing itself, but I'm pretty casual even about that.

Have to say that I don't really pay attention to my stats ^_^.

I actually don't check them at all anymore.

In the beginning I did and it used to drive me crazy (What? only 50 people today? Yesterday was 60, what happened) and all that kind of stuff but then once I started to get a few hundred people per day I gave up on checking.

I think right now my personal blog gets around 800 people per day visiting (when I add new things which is every day or every other day) and my business blog gets (checking here.....) 1600 per day.

Once I made a few solid link deals with other successful bloggers I just didn't need the headache anymore.

    Cheers

They are my crack. I love them.

I love to see where people come from. I like to see the visitor map where it looks like "Risk," only with blog visitors (and no tanks).

And I have been blogging for over three years. The joy hasn't worn off yet.

I used to check it several times a day. Now, rarely do I check. I don't care who is stopping by much or if I'm read unless I am advocating against child abuse or some such. I do respond to comments but it's more like a journal for me.

I check first thing in the morning. Somedays I am happy, sometimes I am blue. It is very close to an obsession for me.

never. I write for me, I don't care if anyone reads it.

We got past "Facebook Week" and "Twitter Week" on Source Blogger, now we're in the throws of "Backlinks Week."

Once these weekly themes are over, I have an article about this very subject. If you/anyone has an article on this topic, I wouldn't mind reading it.

As time passes, the desire to check stats/analytics becomes less and less. Sort of like one's stock market holdings.

Initially I checked it everyday. Now (after 3 months)not so much. I concentrate myself on blogging rather

Once a month or whenever someone posts a question about stats or weird search engine terms.

I normally check about 2x a week. But today I have been checking about every 10 minutes because for some reason Stumble Upon is driving a lot of traffic to a article that I wrote last month. Not sure why all of a sudden though.

It's not the wisest practice to obsess, I'm learning. I had 80+ visitors two days ago and 55 yesterday and I started fretting.

"Ohmigod. Ohmigod. I've lost it! It's over!"

You won't be able to maintain your blogging operations with that type of anxiety.

Blog traffic, like stocks, can vary greatly in short periods.

Blogging, like stocks, is an investment of which I don't expect a return for at least 12-24 months.

If you can start a blog with the expectation of no money and no visitors, in your first year, it will save you a lot of grief. Patience is a friend to the blogger.

I wonder, though, if there's a standard number of hits before a blog is considered "successful"?
