I mean...

I have 2 blogs

www.soggycornflakes.com/celebrities

and

www.soggycornflakes.com/bollywood

Which have a joint average of about 400 visits a day... But I make next to no money.

I think I've made less than 20 dollars in 6 months!

I read on here that someone gets 50 visitors a day and he made 12 dollars in a week!

Any advice?

I think this is because no one clicks on your ads.
My September page impressions were about 3,889 and I had 5 clicks.
I "thought" my final total was $0.65 cents but looking at the account today, it is telling me that I earned $0.72 cents from those stats.

Woo hoo!! I am $0.72 cents richer. That's because 5 people clicked on my ads. THANK YOU to those 5 people. I will donate this $0.72 cents to the Canadian Cancer Society instead of my RRSP. (see I had not realized that a handful of people had clicked).

    I'm happy!

    Oh, I have 3 blogs
    1. Fitness = cheznaz.blogspot.com/ (Blogger)
    2. Gratitude = decision2change.blogspot.com/ (Blogger)
    3. Conscious Living = www.cheznaz.com/ (this is my main blog which earns me $$)

i think we have to get thousands of visitors per day if we get 20 clicks per day that will make decent earning ( about 3$ per day)
but having less than 100 visitors per day won't do anything to your earnings!
    1. ashish028
Once a single click gave me $1.31 so it depends on the ad value How much u make...Sometimes 17 clicks also don't make $2.00 for me...

its a matter of content. try to post every day 7 to 10 articles and see after 3 month how many visitors google send you.
I start 3 month ago so i have been posting around 500 article and now i have 1500 visitors a day with average 150 clicks around 25$ a day and it grow 100 % pr month and i have been lately added to DMZO. Every article i post it goes to the first page in google for the related keyword.

It depends upon what your site offers, some people have to pay higher for their ads, so you make more per click.
We used to pull an average $750.00 per month, but that has dropped down with so many ads out there and We used to use beta, so we were able to open in new window and not lose visitors, but we changed the bank information and they would let us use the new option.
  16. rzblurblog
Haha, I make $5 for the past 3 months. Cannot make it. However, there are other alternatives, you can place advertisement from commission junction at www.cj.com or www.perfomics.com So far I have made zero cents but at least the ads look better. heheh

I have made about 65 bucks in a little over two months. Sometimes, I do pretty good...a couple times, I have made 4 or 5 dollars a day. Sometimes, I get lots of clicks, but make like 50 cents a day. One thing I know...I will not be retiring off my blog! lol

If anyone is interested... infonistacrat.hometownproject.org If you accidentally click one of my ads, I certainly won't complain. If I find out about it, I might even have to accidentally do the same to yours. lol

also, my ads on the front page often don't show up, but the subpages are fine- what's up with that?
    2. infonistacrat
The ads on the front page at the very bottom show up just fine, and I can verify that they work. lol Were there more ads on the front somewhere that don't show up?
    3. ysc87
Yeah, there's one right under the 'sparta' picture, and I took the other one down yesterday. Oh well, not that it matters that much.

I've made a whopping 90 cents in my first week on AdSense. Still tweaking it and promoting the site so hopefully it will go up.

    1. infonistacrat
      libdrone,
I'm a pretty big fan or your site...I think your going to build a pretty good audience with it. If your ads were a little more prominent, I am pretty sure your would make a LOT more. The real problem your going to have is how to get the ads displayed more prominently without ruining how great your site looks! THAT would be a problem I would love to have.
    2. libdrone
      infonistacrat,

I apologize for responding to this one ten days after the fact. Somehow I missed seeing it until now. If you have talent at ad placement I would totally welcome your suggestions cuz I like what you've done with your blog and you sound like you know what you are talking about. I Think what I really need to do is switch to a three column template that keeps the current color scheme so that I could maintain much of the look and feel that I like so much about my current layout, while giving me more money spots to advertise in. I am also testing ad widgets and adbrite to see if they bring in any better results than adsense.

That said, monetization is going to be a long term project for me. My book reviews are good and every time I get another title into my tags, I get more google search traffic when people search book titles. This was a nothing source of traffic when I had a dozen book reviews posted and is still small when I have now perhaps fifty titles. But when I start coming up in the results for searches on hundreds of book titles it will be a much bigger source. Meanwhile I am looking closely to see how well the affiliate relationship with Powells works out, and doing the hard grunt work of getting my name and URL out there.

      Any suggestions for me?

Well, I guess your theme i.e the topic you are writing for is poor. Who all are these people? Write for the hot topic like poker,Travel vacation,Financial management.

How much can you earn by writing on hot topic???

Take my example. My blog is 1 month old, and I am getting 50 visitors from search engines like Yahoo and Google. Per click I am getting $0.75. I won't tell you how much click I am getting ;-)
  25. Rozie818
One way to pump up the clicks is to send out newsletters,
offer something free with ads on that page, if you have a good member base, you should have a good day with adsense.
We send out free templates, and we also have them posted around the net.
Remember, don't ask them to click it. You could lose your account.

The only site that is making money for me is my gaming video site where It is 99% passive income. I login once in a blue moon to see site visitors and how many come to view videos and it has made more in revenue than any blog I have now.

I don't even have to go there to upload conetent, its done automatic.

Sometimes I wonder if blogging is going to be a money maker for me.

The most responses I get that generates any pageviews are when I feel like crap and talk about it and then people get pissed off lol.. I get pageviews when people feel threatened.

Geez, Is that what I have to do? Become Full-Time B*tch to make a Buck?
    1. libdrone
      >>become a full time bitch to make a buck.

well, it has worked for some women. question is could you stomach living that way?
  27. lalatenews
Your ads on the right are in obvious ad locations that an eyeball which just avoid looking at them. The placement is just wrong.

I made around 60 my first month, with around 150 uniques a day. I explained to my friends when i started why i had ads on the site (to break even with hosting), and they started going there and clicking so we'll see how much of this will last.

In order to make money, you need to know who is clicking your ads and where they come from. Also you need to position your ads in order for them to reach and see it easily. Apply the WWW rules, Who, Where, When.

For my part, The majority of people that clicking my ads come from google search because they are looking more for something specific than a blogger that just visit your blog and comment on it. They are not afraid to click everywhere that could help them. Put yourself at their place when you do search on google, will you click every link that are relevant to your search topic? What about when you enter to my blog then you find an ad that talk exactly what you are looking for? I'm sure you will click on it.

Now that you know that, work on your SEO to position your blog and keyword on the top of the search
  32. csiunatc
    Kiwipulse is absolutely right,

Search Engine hits generate a lot more clicks than any social networking site ever does.

If you are going for adsense dollars, you need to focus on getting your search terms climbing on google.
  33. balidreamhome
I am not really sure of that, as now millions of people knows about this game and they do the same, my biggest earning is from the reviewing products and I consider this is ok so far, beside do you think that people might still click on 'underlined' link when they know that those are advertiser links?

Text link add could be a very nice option, but this required hard work prior to it, imagine if each text link worth for US$ 50 and you got 10 each month thats what I am aiming for :-)

I have $49.26 in my Google account right now... after 2 months, so I guess that's OK. Not great, but not as bad as it could be... and it's getting better each day. It takes time. Like someone said, it really depends on the value of the ads. I have them on 2 differnt blogs so they're spread out. Yep, you may get good traffic but you have to consider that only a couple out of 100 visitors are gonna click an ad. Page placement cannot be overlooked. And SEO is SO important. Get the blogs into search engines and you'll see an increase. AdSense search is good to have to, even though it pay only like 2 cents per search. The good thing is that Google is very well targeted.

My blog www.topinternetguides.com averages about $2.00 per day from adsense. I found making a static front page that has pricey keywords helps. I'm averaging about 7 clicks per day, so .30 each.

I also sell affiliate products and use kontera on the same pages, with total revenue from ads about $4.00 per day, but the affiliate sales are where the money is.

I find that changing the color of the ads helps too. My repeat visitors seem to click on them more when the color isn't stale
