I went to the post office last week for the first time in many many months. I had to line up for at least 30 minutes: to mail two letters.

I feel like strange having to mail letters after such a long time. Do you still write letters to distant friends and relatives?

I do sometimes. I am planning to write a love letter to a blogger from BC

A love letter? How fantastic! I mailed a letter to a 10year old kid; I met her father on a social site. He described her as someone who likes to collect keychains, so I thought I'd surprise her with a mail first. I hope to do this more often. It felt quite good to be doing that; I imagine she will be happy to receive a card from overseas.

I usually pay my bills via the mail. I know I could use EFT from my bank but I am old-fashioned that way.

Nothing like mailing greeting cards and postcards during the holiday seasons and on occasions.

It cost CDN 56 cents per envelope.

You are quite right about the holiday seasons and occassions. Many folks do not like using the internet. They also love displaying the cards from their friends. My in-laws collect them to remind her to send cards to those she has received in the following year.

I never send letters anymore, although I do frequent the post office every week to send packages. Emails, text messages, and phone calls suffice.

Letter writing is required in schools, at the writing part. I have to start writing letters to influence my kid to do the same. We learn foreign languages and at some stage, the programme will include tests on how to write letters, layout etc.
