Hi people ! I've a question . You see , I've got one of this widget in my blog by technorati which indicates how much is your blog worth . Well , it states there $0.00 on my blog , so how does this thing work ? Is it really a true gauge to how much your blog is worth ?

That's an interesting link. Tried it on my site and got $1,129.08. I didn't research that tool properly but the creator says the following:

"I've created this little applet using Technorati's API which computes and displays your blog's worth using the same link to dollar ratio as the AOL-Weblogs Inc deal."

So I guess that widget puts your value at 0 simply because Technorati shows that there are no blogs linking to you.

I think you shouldn't take that number too seriously, at least I don't for mine. Just keep up the good work and you'll see that number go up. Anyways, is there a big market for blogs? I'm not so sure about that, unless you blog is like really big.

Depends how you quantify 'worth' - my blog is priceless for the amount of friends, contacts and 'connections' I have made in the last few months since setting it up.

Well 'worth' the effort - who knows what other forms of abundance may come my way in time,

  The widget doesn't update, because all it does is calculate a value, and then includes the value in the code you place on your blog, with the picture in the background.
  
  It isn't interactive.

Blogs are only worth what someone is prepared to pay for them, Right? Like property, cars,sushi google, youtube et al....all an addictive spiral? Coffee anyone? Starbucks is not the drink, its the experience, the brand,(most net worth tied up in property with location, locaton and ...location) as is this social network. Virtual group hug anyone..now THAT would be a world first. Hmmmm.

  Take your montly revenue, multiply it by 24 months.
  
  That's a good start..
  
  Other factors should also be considered: The site's PR, domain age, # of incoming links, is the site included in popular directories?(DMOZ, Yahoo, etc.).. and the list goes on...

  Yep it's just a number calculated on the basis of other numbers. My 40-day old blog is worth around $3,400, but that can't be true. I myself would think twice before paying $5 for it!

Mine's $42,340.50.

Put a trailing slash so you get your result correctly. Example:
put gameshogun.ws/ instead of gameshogun.ws. Most of your links will have a the trailing slash because your URL will always have something after your main domain.

Sometimes you do get a result without the trailing slash, but that is if top sites link to you without the trailing slash.

I think blogs really can be worth a lot. Many large businesses are using blogs and blogging to increase their SEO and bring in more traffic to their main sites. In addition, blogging can also be used as sort of a grass roots way to spread information and motivate people. There's always money in something that's popular right?

I know a couple of bloggers, locally here in the Philippines, who earns U$1,000.00 from their blogs, some every month, some quarterly. That's a lot already in our local money, you'll be able to buy the latest PC with the latest stuff in it for that amount in Philippines Pesos.
