I've just been in touch with a blogger who's gone from 0 to 2000+ subscribers and lots of visitors in 2.5 months ( sovietposter.blogspot.com ), to ask him this very question. His tips were:

"1. The idea was to get money out of blogging, and have fun in the process. But the money is the driver - i have started several blogs, and only one have hit the bull's eye. I have cancelled others without mercy. So you just didn't see my other failures And the money driver keeps me focused on important things, makes me look for something new, makes me change things in the soviet poster, look for new appoaches and tricks - and completely kills the boredom.

    2. Daily basis. I have put the word daily in the name of the blog, so that i don't have an excuse to skip a day. And for 2.5 months i have missed the schedule only once and was ahead of it several times. I am surpised with my persistence, as actually i am quite lazy. Another thing is that if you update frequently you can monitor all the trafic fluctuations and see the results of your actions immediately. And another thing is that it takes less time to understand if a blog is worth spending time and efforts on.

    3. Content. Not only text but sounds, google maps and cool pics. And the content should be unique. Internet is just a huge pile of crap, so if you could find jems in it, clean them and sort in was suitable for enjoyment - you're done well.

    4. I have found out that posters were such an interesting thing only after i had to give out an article a day. So i just got some books and started reading. And it turned out to be breathtakingly interesting. But only after i had spent some time digging in.

    5. People like stories. So I add something personal in every post.

    6. I've chosen the soviet poster topic because - a) no rivals b) people often admire poster artwork but they really don't understand it c) even professional art catalogs never give descriptions of particular posters they feature d) i can do these articles with a relative ease

...Another thing though. www.problogger.net/ - this a great resource, i have learned A LOT from the place. Good luck!"

If you look on Technorati he's had loads of 'blog reactions'

Me, I don't get that many visitors - 2000+ subscribers - if only!!

Welcome, Jellybabys! (Entertaining chicken avatar, by the way. :-) )

Aside from the info folks have shared here, if you do a search on "traffic" on Blogcatalog, you'll probably find quite a few good threads with hints on smart tips for getting traffic.

In a nutshell, it can take time, but most folks here will tell you that consistent posting is good (whether you do it multiple times a day, a week, etc) just set your reader's expectations.

Network and post comments on blogs you like-- let people know who you are.

    Focus on your content.

Register your site with the search engines so they know you're out there.

    Find forums in your niche.

And here on BlogCatalog, there are also niche groups you can join to meet likeminded folks.

    Hope this helps!

I get about 25 unique visitors per day. The blog has only been active about 2 weeks, so that's pretty good. I believe that income will come with more traffic, but have yet to see ANY $$.

I only get just under 200 unique visitors, and an average of 15-20 comments per post but I don't mind because the average length of stay per visit is almost 6 minutes so I know they are actually reading my silly stuff.

Getting around 150 per day now, almost all from work-at-home sites, also from some Google searches.

I'm averaging about 150 hits per day..with the most coming from California and New York. Havin Google Analytics has been fun and informative. I'm always surprised at the keywords people use to find my content. I think if I knew how to use the keyword feature more efficiently my numbers would go up. But I'm happy with the slow rise I'm seeing in hits and the length of stay which means that people are reading.

I'm blogging about a small niche topic (thoroughbred horse racing), but I manage around 200 visits/day if I'm reading the stats right. I've only been up for a couple of months and am about to crest the 10,000 mark.

My Great Ads blog averages about 200 unique and 600 pageviews a day, it actually does very well earning me a small income with such little traffic, but I get a very high CTR on it and the traffic is targeted so the ads pay very well.

My View from Behind...lol...well thats another story, this is mostly just for fun and still too new for any real stats.

My husband has taught me that a small niche topic that gets targeted traffic will pay off much better than a blog that blogs with other bloggers and gets alot of traffic. But that is only important if you want to earn money with your blog I guess.

If any of you haven't done anything with affiliate marketing, you may want to consider trying it. I wont post the link but it is on my blog if you want to to take a look.

40-50 Unique Visitors per day ... trying to take it to 100 ...

Thanks friends! I don't have to say anything because you all already mentioned it. Some of them is already written on my blog.
It's just make me become believe what I wrote before is same as your tips but I write it with my own words.
Feel free to see my blog, leave comment or give your review. Thanks

I'm stuck around 5 at the moment, but that's not such a big problem as my target group is rather small (piano and tutorials blog).
So i guess it really kind of depends on your target group / goals.

I'm averaging 35-50 hits per day to my Lost in the Hive humor blog, and about 25 to my Pulse of My Heart blog (about my wife's heart condition). My poetry blog, which I rarely promote, gets a handful. When I write about sex, my hits jump...huh...I wonder why...

If any of you have an intriguing or controversial article that you have researched and was well-written, Source Blogger will read and provide a great comment on your behalf. No problem.

    Let me know...Source Blogger

I think it's safe to say most of my material is "controversial" as it's mostly, in some way, shape or form, about sex, using men for sex, or interacting with the opposite sex in ways that are not becoming for a lady LOL

as for my stats, I just checked and here's what I found:
everything copies in as gobbly gook so it ranges from 60 to 24 (today) unique visitors, with a range of 34 to 125 some-odd page loads, depending on the day, in the last week.
only 24 unique visitors so that's a bit disheartening...

30-50 unique visitors per day without any investments
