How often do you go to the store to buy food and essentials?
I am trying to figure out how people in general shop for groceries. I go once a month for the big stuff and once a week for milk, cheese and such. This will help me in writing my cook book. I am making weekly meal plans but wanted to know if it should be monthly instead.

I'm like you. We just got a deep freeze, so I'll be able to stock up a bit when things are on sale. (We live in an area where I can buy my beef from the farm. But to do that, I have to buy half the cow.)
I go once a month for canned goods and foods I can freeze. But perishables are a weekly purchase.
(I also garden and freeze my surplus produce for use during the winter.)-
I have two deep freezers and thinking about getting another one. I put up food and buy things on sale. I went this morning and got loaf bread $0.50 a loaf so I bought a cart full and froze it. Between them eating sandwiches and the animals it wont got to waste. I buy my meat at a local meat market right now since I havent processed any of mine yet.

i usually go once a week for the essentials, stopping on the way home during the week if there's something special I want to make. I try to always have some frozen meats for whatever so I can generally get back on the once a week. until i'm craving an artichoke or fresh salsa and then off to Giant Eagle I go!

Most any day. I get bottled water from a nearby shop which is open till 11pm; tap water tastes pretty bad (even if it tasted good, I try to avoid sodium fluoride and chlorine). I also get fresh fruit and veggies every other day.
