How often do you post?
Do you have a "reserve" of articles?
Do you have any advice for new bloggers?

I aim to post a few times a week. I post about whatever has taken up a lot of space in my brain at the time.
My advice is to stick to what is authentic to yourself when you blog. When you try to deviate from that its not as much fun for yourself or your readers
-
I post 3-4 times per week (usually 3), and I don't have a reserve of posts (I wish I had that kind of time!). I don't like to let too much time go by between posts since I'm fairly new at this, so I don't want to lose my new readers.
-
. . .So, I looked at your blog. Lots of useful information, especially for people (like me) who don't know much about social networking. I'm going to have to look closer at what LinkedIn is all about. I like the article, ' Are Social Networks Ruining your Social Life?.' Great title and excellent accompanying photo. . .
-
I try to post every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning and occasionally, on a weekend if I'm inspired.
I don't have a reserve of articles, but I wish I did ... sometimes, it would be nice to just be able to pick from a list rather than start with a clean slate. Unfortunately, I spend so much time on each one of my posts that there isn't enough time in the day to create a reserve.
My advice is to concentrate on the quality of your posts rather than the quantity. Oh, and to blog about what you know. That may sound pretty basic and "DUH" but I simply cannot believe the number of bloggers I read that profess to be experts in their field and yet, their posts contains so many inaccurate statements and obvious "filler" that it's an immediate turn off. -
I usually do one really big post with lots of photos etc every 7-10 days, and at least 2 other shorter posts like a recipe or joke between the longer ones. It works good for me this way.
I don't have a reserve of articles. I have a few ideas rolling around in my head tho... does that count?
-
I post two or three times per week, especially now, being on vacation and all.
I like to include images/photos in my posts, as often (and as many) as I can, because I write a lot of sh--ahem, a lot of stuff. -
Right now I usually post twice a week as I'm recovering from a head injury. When I am fully recovered I will be probably posting 3 - 4 times weekly on my blogging tips blog. Also I agree with creative junkie - I focus on quality over quantity.
-
Timethief is right. Quality over quantity every time. If once every 2 weeks works for you, then go with it I say.
I post 3 times a week. I couldn't manage more than that because I create a comic strip (from start to finish) to go along with a text piece. We're still new ourselves, and trying to find our footing in the blogosphere.

Yes, well, I’m getting more traffic from google searches, so I figure. . .these people who are coming to my site for the first time really don’t care how many times per week I post. They just want the article they googled to be useful and informative. . .and from my perspective, I’m trying to spend a little more time on the aesthetics of the site to increase the likelihood of their lingering. . .
Also, my subscribers read my articles whether I post them 2x per week or 1x every two weeks. . .and let’s face it, 1x every two weeks is much more sustainable (at least for me-----).-
Good point. I started at a daily-post pace, but what I found was that I wasn't able to maintain the quality level (and I was distracted from living my life with my family). I thought, this isn't the reason I'm blogging. So, I've taken the pressure off a bit and post about twice a week.
In terms of reserve articles, I brainstorm ideas fairly frequently, but it is rare that I take the time to write out a full article and keep it in my draft folder. I would say I have reserve topics and sometimes do my writing on a weekend, scheduling it to post during the week... but most of the time, I'm writing an article the day it is posted.
Good question (and you know I love your blog.)

I try to post a couple times a week at least. But it really depends on what's going on in the football world. I don't have a reserve of articles since mine's commenting on things as they happen.
-
I try my best to post everyday! It is what I have been experienced. Problems I am solving. Sometimes I am lucky to get couple of posts per day. I do not have any reserve posts but I think it might be a good idea.
As long as blogging about what you really know and what you really love, it is easy and other will love your blog. -
I try to post 5-7 days a week. Since my blog is about food and fitness, its pretty easy to either post about my workout or what I made that day, since I'm always cooking something. I tend to post vegan or environmentally friendly products from time to time too, so...there is always something for me to post about!
-
I post every day (sometimes twice in one day) in my primary blog (Politics by Satire), and twice a week in my other blog (Daily Cat Fun).
-
I post a few times a week. People won't return when they don't see you updating your blog. I have a recipe blog so to complicate things, I have to come up with a recipe, cook it, photograph it, upload the photos and figure out the weight watcher points. It's time consuming, my evenings and weekends are spent blogging.

I started out, 1.5 years ago, posting every day. Over that time, I've missed about a dozen days due to technical issues. (Technical = Internet service down, or I'm physically in a location without service or a computer.)
A few times I've posted only a very short post, stating that I'm not posting -- been sick or just very, very tired (like today's post, for instance -- I essentially passed out last night before 8:00). I've never not posted anything at all just because I didn't feel like it (or didn't have an idea to write about).
Recently I've been thinking about not posting over the weekends. Updating and maintaining a web site is a lot of work, it turns out.

I just started blogging and I do it probably way too often. Maybe in the future I'll blog once a week. I would like to get comments on my blogs.
-
as often as I can. I have an issue with saying exactly whats on my mind. and I think alot. So pretty much everytime and interesting idea comes up. I try not post just ANYTHING and keep it to full content but ...so whatever I don't post I draft for later
you can check some of them out on

I try to post every day or whenever I have time to write something. I don't have anything pre-written, only ideas in my head. I also think it's not the quantity that matters - it's the quality that really counts.

-
I try to post daily, on one blog or another.
When I don't post I organize the content a little bit.
From time to time I try to post a powerful article that will "strengthen" the blogs a little bit. As NutriGirl said, is the quality that matters. But you cannot always be at the top of your writing skills.
All best,

I try to post at least once a day. I like to post twice a day if I kind come up with relevant posts that aren't redundant. Since I have a political blog, right now is a bit of a slow season and I've been really hurting for stuff to post about : (
-
I did post about the Obama/Blagojevich connection, but like you said it's pretty much full court press everywhere. I don't want to beat the horse to death and just write the same thing in a million different ways like the rest of the news corp is doing. I hate redundancy.
Maybe if some more real news, instead of speculation and opinion, comes out of it, I will feel moved to post about it again.

Here is an article about why part-time bloggers shouldn't post every day:

Dear Aveccioni, Yes, Bremen is a beautiful city. The cityhall ("Rathouse", no rats there, but the senators and the Burgermeister of Bremen. My father was senator of ports and traffic). I wrote my memoirs, "My life on Two Continents" aboaut my youth and education in Bremen, my travels in Germany and Italy, my time as Prisoner of War in France and my immigration ot the States in 1952. My husband and I visit Germany from time to time. Mathilde.

Welcome to the blogging world. I'm new myself -- just about a month in. Since I'm new and a freelance writer, I post about three times a day. I also alternate between short bits and longer articles and of course mix in pictures too.
My blog is melissabxoxo.blogspot.com -
I make 20 to 30 fresh posts a day over a couple dozen blogs and edit an equal number written by others. On average 4 to 6 of the ones I write personally are paid posts. Yes I keep a reserve of posts for some of my blogs ready to go, and a couple dozen generic post structures I use for paid posting so I can get them out quickly and efficiently.
-
We tend to post once a day, but there are two of us so that makes it easier. Also, we do skip days when we don't feel like writing.
Our two hard and fast rules are that we only post when we're in the mood to write something and we write for ourselves. Course ours is a personal blog so the whole point is to do what makes us happy. -
I try to post 1x per week, sometimes probably twice. I think my goal should be around 3x per week. I guess my rule is anytime I feel inspired, if you write just to write the final product is poor. Good luck with your blog.

i have a personal blog i post when i feel like it, may be every 6 days or so.
just random ramblings of what ever.
peace out. -
I try to add several articles a day. As I wish to offer meaningful content, some articles can be quite long (such as my www.blogbert.nl/2009/01/famous-stiffs-of-2008.html which took seven pages in my wordprocessor) so it is not always possible to attain that goal.
I do have a pool of articles for future publication, and I constantly search for new ideas and subjects. One has to be organized.
Best!

I am a new blogger. I feel comfortable to put something onto my blog maybe once a week. It gets too shallow if I do it more often. I write my diary every day so I don't forget what I did the day before, but often it's uninteresting stuff. It is nice to share thoughts with others when you really have to tell something. right now I have finished my fourth book and am not writing anything. I am waiting for a new idea. But there is also a life to live. the best thing is: go with the flow. A new idea will come when the time is ripe for it. And when it comes, I will be grateful and make the most of it. Meanwhile, I am following my own advice and enjoy every day I'm alive and healthy. Mathilde.

I do everything in my power to fire off about three posts a day, but less if I don't deem them worthy. Some are involve more writing than others, so it may sound more ludicrous than it really is... plus I have my partner in crime who write (albeit much less routinely) who picks up my slack... not necessarily related, but I also find having him contribute helps in respect to our entries are DRASTICALLY different so we can appeal to two different crowds...in theory.

The new year is a little overwhelming. I decided to teach German again and now have two classes. Not many students, but the ones who come to my classes are very sincere and really want to learn. so it is very rewarding. I also belong to several book clubs and we discuss what we are reading. Also there are family, house and garden and not't forget, daily cooking and meals. It's a full life, enhanced by emails from and to my friends and writing books. Mathilde.

I can't keep a set schedule. If I don't feel like posting anything, that means I have nothing to talk about. However there are times I have a lot to share and I have to stop myself from posting more than twice a day. I'm currently at that point. I've quit smoking so I have a lot to discuss with and I need to do something with my hands.
-
I usually try to stay a few days ahead but after the holidays I have been chasing the post daily. I havent missed a day yet this year

What a great question you have posted! You deserve props. I am a new blogger and wonder what the right amount is. Would you please drop by my blog and let me know what you think is a good frequency? I'm going to check yours and a few other people who posted on here out now. THANKS FOR THE GREAT IDEA!

I did 4 tonight, sometimes every day, depending on which blog I'm working on, I may leave it a day or so. The other day I wrote a few and set them to publish later

i post about once a week. you can post frequently. but the thing is you have to give your readers time to read it. and bring new ones of course... wemakeyoulaugh.blogspot.com

I post in average one time per week. I'm fairly new at this too, and I do this part time, so it isn't possible to keep up the quality with more posts. I try to keep them coming on a regular basis though - not two days and then 10 days apart, but evenly every 6-8 days.

I checked out your blog and it looks interesting! I'll be back. -
How often do you post?
I post three times a week. But it's better if you could post everyday, to attract pings and spiders.
Do you have a "reserve" of articles?
Nope, but i do submit to article directories. :-) All contents are written from scratch.
Do you have any advice for new bloggers?
Be patient and share your interest with like-minded people. :-)
Hope this helps! -
I have a political and news blog so I post daily.
If I know I'm going to be too busy to post on any given day, the night before I make a draft post and schedule it to post the next day.
My readers expect to find the latest news on my blog and I try not to disappoint them.

I post in spurts. Sometimes five times a week, other times once a month. It depends on my mood and/or my schedule. Sometimes my words aren't there. This happened recently and I've only just picked it back up. When I write it flows from me, if it doesn't...I step away.
my advice? don't force it. if you can't find something to say, step away and take a break. don't frustrate yourself. -
I decided to really use my new blog now to tell what my books are about. So why not start today.
I wrote everything I could remember by hand on yellow paper and after about 300 pages I thought I had my daughter help me to type it. By then computers began to take over for typewriters and so Barbara taught me how to use her new computer. that wasn't so hard and in a few days ;I had a nice folder of about 200 pages. Lots of typos, but my children did not care. They could read this much better than the yellow pages with my handwriting. Ten years later I felt like publishing this and half a year later I had my first printed book in my hand. This experience was so motivating that I kept on writing. Now I have four of my own books on my shelf. Mathilde. -
I post, uh or try to post, a few times a day, but I post fairly short articles though and sometimes longer ones. (the ladies love the longer ones)
I've thought about having a reserve of articles, but it's become more of a backlog of articles I would like to write instead of a reserve.
My best advice I can think of is to not get discouraged, try different things, experiment, and to keep having fun.

I read somewhere that if you have a new blog, you should post everyday at first. I'm finding that challenging especially since many of my posts are about tasting chocolate or chocolate recipes. Some may not feel that its challenging but when you are also trying to lose weight, it would be a losing battle.
I'm trying to post every second day or at least three days a week. I have a list of ideas in reserve but not the actual articles written. -
I post like twice a week.. Just started a new blog sci-online.blogspot.com
-
Right now, every day. I do have some kind of "reserve" of articles, though, from my German blog. But I won't post daily forever.

Just as I stated that this column is getting too long, up comes "Queenlandsfan." Her real name is Eva and she is a world traveler from München, Germany. She writes her long, interesting blog in English and also in German. Now--I am teaching German in California and this really turned me on.
Eva, ich hoffe, dass Du diese Anstellung kriegst, du bist ja geradezu dafür geschaffen! Ich hoffe, daß du gut bezahlst wirst!
