I have a 1994 nissan altima. I have to replace something onit every month or two. It is getting to be a problem. I just dont want to spend money on a new one when all I do os go to get groceries and run errands.

So my question is how old is your car and would you replace it if it started to break down all the time?

Mine is a '97, and the only problem I have with it is a loose piece of heat shield that rattles when I accelerate. I just can't bring myself to pay someone to tack it back in place. I would replace it, if it started breaking down a lot, though. It's not worth more than a couple of thousand dollars so a major repair would be worth as much as trading it in on a newer model.

I have a Nissan Sentra 2003 that I got 2 years ago. It is starting to have problems but I have 2 brothers that are mechanics and friends willing to help. I'm sure that if I had taken the car to a shop last week I would have payed 100 dollars or so, instead I bought the piece myself and my friend Alex replaced it, 2.19 dollars and a beer

Mine is a 98 and yes, when it begins having problems, it will get the boot.

2002 Stratus. Eventually I'm sure it'll get to a point where I'll replace it. In the meantime, I'll deal with repairs as they arise (infrequently at best, knock wood.)

My car is a 2005--and runs perfectly (big knock on wood here though!). I HATE dealing with car problems--this was my first brand new car and it has been heavenly to not have to worry about unexpected and unwanted constant repairs, which I did have with all my other cars.

I have a 2002 Nissan Maxima. Unfortunately, it needs a new brake job, tierods, bearings and ball joints. It's getting old.

If I could afford it, I'd replace it or get it fixed in a heart beat.

My cart was a few years old. The wheel broke off after rolling off a high curb, back from the supermarket. Gluing it back on didn't work. Those were the only wheels I had. Sniff.

My coworker asked me if my tires were for an Indy race yesterday. I am guessing b/c they are bald. To answer the question, the car and tires are 30,000 miles old and both are owned by Honda. Leasing has worked for me.

And yes... I don't like to replace/repair or fix things at all - cause I usually screw them up worse and end up costing myself more money in the long run.

So yes - if it started breaking down - and wasn't covered by the warranty - YES - I would replace it!

I still have my 96 Infiniti G20 that I've owned for a while. I've replaced the transmission, radiator, clutch (2X), axles, rotors, water pump, engine mounts, ECM, rear wheel assembly, window motor and assembly all by myself. I am now looking to buy a new car now that I have a real post college job. It's going to have to be something with a manageable engine compartment and reliable engine/transmission combo that I can work with myself. As you can tell, I don't like paying other people money to fix my baby.

I called today for break calipers and they wate $55 a side for it. I think the last ones I bought were $20. Hubby said mine is a foreign car so I have to pay more. This is the one he hit the 750 lb pig with on the back road after dark. It was a freebie from my sister. Part of the bumper is held on with bailing wire. The oil leaks, the radiator did until I poured the stop leak into it, the power sterring leaked the transmission has not had anything done to it yet. The break fluid is getting expensive and then if it leaked down to low I have to bleed my breaks before I can go any where. I am looking for another one because we have 3 other vehicles and they are all trucks. So 4 of us cant fit into them. Hubby so nicley pointed out today when I said I was just going to park it for now.

I have a 6 year old Mitsubishi Lancer. Go Lancers! My car runs great, but yeah if it was breaking down I would get a new one. My car has 130,000 miles on it.

I take my children to school (44 miles or 40 minutes away) and pick them up every other week. That is over 1600 miles a month just to take them to school! I hope that within a year or 2 we will move closer so there will be less driving.

I drive a '95 Eagle Vision, one of the few cars that is wide enough to handle 3 car seats in the back. (Can't stand vans, that's why.)

Hubby does the maintenance, so we keep ours until they fall apart. Our last car was a 1988 Toyota Corolla, which we kept until 2004.
