I have a 2 year old laptop, 2 - 1 year old desktops... but the one I use, and dearly love (you ready?) is 11 years old!! LOL It has a port for floppy disks. It's about twice the overall size of the new ones, sounds like a car engine when it's booting up, and I absolutely love it.

    peace

I have a two and a half year old Compaq Presario Desktop which I added a Graphics card and RAM to. It still gets the job done, but I am considering buying a Macbook laptop so I can compute on the go! =)

The one I use mostly is about 3-4 yrs. old. I have another which is much older, it has microsoft office 2000 on it! But I still love it, it has a lot of older programs that I still use.
  12. Onchong
I had it assembled five months ago.

The Mac I'm currently using is 3months old ;-). But I have 2 others 1 is around 2-3years old and the grandpa is around 10-12 (very old!!!).

I also have a laptop that's 2years old next month.
    LoL.
  14. pdvdw
I wish everything you bought would last as long as a PC/MAC. ;-)

My comp is 8 years, yes, eight years old! Daddy purchased it in 2000 for my sis for her studies...it's a pentium 3, with 256 RAM, and 40gb HDD!!

Old enough to know better, but young enough to do it anyway...lol. Sorry, my desktop is four years old, but my laptop is 6 months old.

  22. webhostingreviews
I just worked on one that was 12 years old from a coworkers mom, Yes 12 years old. Man was it slow. I told her that I'm a computer repair technician not an antique restorer. We got it working again though...

my laptop is 1 year & 5 months old now. my "server" laptop is about 4 or 5 years old.

then there's the 1999 laptop that's been upgraded several times - to the point where the processor runs so hot it burns out the power board. can't keep a battery going on it.
and the 2000 desktop (that doesn't get used - need to recycle it)

and the other half has a 2.5 year old laptop.

what can i say, i'm a geek. i like keeping hte old hardware around.
  24. Friday13
This one's so old, I'm getting offers from museums!

(okay, maybe not ... we got it two years ago, but most of it is from 2003-2004)

Just over 5 years old, my laptop is. This year I've upgraded the RAM (from 256MB to 2GB) and the 30GB hard drive was dying (I got one of those lovely SMART failure warnings), so I upgraded to an 80GB drive. I don't really need that much space considering I already have an external hard drive to store my extra crap.

Upgrading your machine is typically a lot cheaper than buying new. Here are some articles I've written about it in the past month to find out more. :O

desktop: 3 years old. Laptop: 50 days
  33. LGramlich
1 1/2 yr old desktop, the laptop was from our Hurricane Katrina exile (3 yrs ago now.)
  34. JackMandora
5 years; it limps along painfully and has memory problems.
  35. Anniepooh
Anywhere from 10 years to 6 months. The one I use the most often is 6 months old.
  36. bradhart
Like others the question becomes which one and how do we define old. The computer I am on now is a AMD 2800+, but it was built from brand new parts costing less than a month ago for less $120 (MB and chip, 256mb video card, HD Tuner Card 6.1 toslink sound card, and 1gb ram). Call it $200 total with the 500gb hard drive I just ordered on ebay for it. My others range from 1 year to 5 years, and the one that has my old win 95/98 games I let my son play is 8 years old.
  37. dotartdude
    4 months old

The desktop is 8 months old.
One of the laptops is 2 years old and the other is 1 month new..
  39. N2Tech
newest one is 1 month old and it rocks! 4g Ram, 64bitOS, dual core processor. Faster than a speeding bullet! Just no Flash plugin for the 64 bit browser :-(
    1. bladeaxe4
      u can still install a 32 bit OS !
  40. bladeaxe4
mine is 3 and half year older ~
  41. benspak

  42. eggs500
my laptop is 7 month years old.
The capacity of a battery is low.
  43. alyoung
Eight years, and it's dying rather quickly.

Saying that, though, it's never really been that alive, hah.
  44. keanxy
mine was desktop PC only, its about 1200 days old
  45. Ponkotsu
A bit over 6 years old now, and gradually dying at this point. Planning on working on building a new PC later this fall and moving all my data over. This machine's pretty outdated anyway, but it's served me well. I just wish it weren't as noisy as it often is these days.
  46. thenglishteacher
laptop 7 months, desktop 2 months, both macs ;-)
  47. scoreboardgourmet
two weeks and two days. before that...4 years and hurting
  48. Marcuss

  49. MadameX
One of my laptops is 8-10 years old, the other less than a year. My desktop is 4-5 years old and running fine...thus far I haven't encountered any reason to upgrade.
    1. MadameX
You can't be serious. In widely varied discussion threads you can't think up anything to say except "check my new blogs" and you expect us to believe that you have something interesting to say ON your blogs? Seems like a stretch.
  50. irtiza104
    7 dayz...yap...i just bought a new one....woooooooooooooohooooooooo

the previous one was bought in 2002
  51. wigwam2theorem
    1 year 10 months
  52. TigerXtrm
About a year I think. But I build my own rig and I change and replace stuff about it all the time so there's no real accurate time. The last time I replaced most parts in one go however was about 1 and a half year ago.
  53. burningwindmil
laptop of two years, begining to show her age now :-(
  54. Nesmuth
My laptop is over 7 yrs old and it's still running like a charm.

My Mac Book Pro is almost a year old and I am still in love with it. Had a PC laptop that crashed every few months, now it's just a paper holder :-)
  57. therealshari
Most of ours (3 of them) are about 4 years old. We do regular maintenance on them. One just got a new hard drive. One of my roomies is a tech person, so we keep an inventory of parts from older machines that have already bit the dust.

We're on tap to purchase one new computer in 2009.
  58. daiLyFeed
    5 years old.. rejuvenated - 2 months!

you can now watch Twilight FULL movie online.. this is NO JOKE! the full Twilight Movie is divided into 8 parts so there will be 8 videos in total.

Depends on the part. The video card is two months old. The case is three years old. Maybe if you cut that time in half, that would be the age. I will never buy a new computer all together. I continuely replace old components. So over time when I replace the motherboard, I will still keep the other stuff that is still compatible with the new mobo, and eventually everything gets replaced.
  60. cashmere
My more than 7 years old lappy is useless and I just bought a new one last 2 days!! Wheeee....! Totally loving it.. =)
  61. hatingtherain

    1. siralmo
