I know that submitting articles and being a guest poster on other blogs are great ways to receive backlinks. What else?

The ideas above came from www.problogger.net/archives/2007/03/25/how-to-get-backlinks/ And, I found myself writing a blog post in a comment box in reply to your question, so I edited and removed the contents and now I'm writing a post.

Good info ... I read about doing "list style" posts ie; Ten ways to unplug a drain ... etc. and I found they really get backlinks. Writing guest posts on other people's blogs is another way.

Genuine comments are good to if the blogger is DO FOLLOW. (which I think all blogs should be)

I think it's always good to acknowledge your source and over time, people realise you are a good internet citizen and will link back to you too.

    Plus all of the above

I have now published the first of what will be a series of posts on ways and means of getting backlinks. The post contains mini reviews of 21 sites bloggers can submit their articles to.

One site is looking for writers and will pay a beginning stipend (up to $800 per month depending on experience) to start, with the potential of a full-time, lucrative income for writers, who help us take their blog to the top of a market niche. They will handle all the set up, domain registration and site build, all the technical issues and all the marketing.

what is the difference between back link ,recipocal links , in bound - out bound links
    1. timethief
      I answered you here.
      www.blogcatalog.com/discuss/entry/link-exchanges#comment_864756

      (1) A backlink occurs when another site links to one of your posts. And an outbound link occurs when you link to another blogger's post.

Inbound links are links from pages on external sites linking back to your site. Inbound links can bring new users to your site, and when the links are merit-based and non-reciprocal, they're also one of the positive signals to Google about your site's importance.

      (2) A reciprocal link exchange happens when two bloggers decide to add each others blog links to their blogrolls. This is NOT the best link building strategy to use unless the two blogs are on related topics. I explained why that is in the other comment I have linked to above.

      (3) The best linking strategy is to get a lot of non-reciprocal links (or one-way inbound links), which are also relevant links to your site from high ranking and popular sites. When your site receives a lot of quality non-reciprocal links, the search engines consider your site and the web pages that receive these inbound quality links as containing highly valuable web content.

I am almost convinced that without either a whole lotta time or the help of an expensive SEO guy ($500 for 50 comments) you cant get a firm competitive foothold online. AND THAT IS AGGRAVATING!

Click the username and discover he hasn't signed in here for 18 days. Perhaps using the contact information on his blog is the best way to go.

A blog meme is a viral game where you generate links and relationships through asking other bloggers to participate. Blog memes are legitimate means of securing backlinks.

My preference is to join blog directories that are already well established, and have page ranks that are higher than those of my own blogs, and that attract far more traffic than my blogs do. In addition, I prefer to register my blogs in directories where the editors review and rank blogs. I like to use this site www.linkreferral.com/adwel.pl?oldrefid=260854 to increase traffic. Then while I'm visiting member pages, I comment on ones I like. If they like my page too, it's easy to exchange links and garner a new fanbase.
    1. timethief
I read this on the siteand decided this was NOT for me.

Good content promoted well and the links eventually come... one way are always best.

I think this topic is quite interesting. I will make research about it and post it here or to one of my blogs.

What I know about backlinks are becoming efficient to get good traffics. I would love to participate in forums having my backlinks and it keeps me to become a loyal visitor on that forum.

My advice is to spend more time in forum communities that give you privilege to allow you for backlinks or post your websites. I guess that's the consolation we could get in return from forum that generates high traffic because of our participation. Just like me, one of the forum websites that has many strict rules or inconvenient for you to post I ended up hating it and promised not to go back on that site anymore.

You could get backlinks by going to addthis.com and using their buttons on your page. You can use the buttons for your blog and even specific posts.
