   Ask your friend to digg your post. Your visitor will increase as per the number of digg.

   The flow of traffic from Digg (as well as Reddit and Mixx) can be very consistent. I wouldn't put all my hope in one resource, but definitely should be part of your repertoire when submitting your "pillar posts."

   You have to make really really interesting articles a lot of people will be interested in. If it's a news article make sure you get it as soon as it happens, and avoid posting duplicates.
   
   Try to get a lot of *real* friends that read your stuff, at least 15-30 is crucial. those 15-30 guaranteed diggs will draw more diggs.
   
   Post earlier on in the day because new day = new news and less people check back at old articles.
   
   Remember, more friends = more popularity & trust = more diggs
