   I've set my logo image to flash at a nearly undetectable rate that hypnotises my visitors. The hypnosis keeps them coming back each day. It's cheap and easy, and possibly true.

   Some general tips you can no doubt find numorous places both here and elsewhere:
   
   1.) write interesting articles that compel people to want to return.
   
   2.) Provide regular updates so your readers know when to expect a reason to return.
   
   3.) engage in dialogue with those who leave you comments. One of the great strengths of "blogging" versus conventional media is that often the discussion about the atricle (within the comments) can take on a life of it's own.
   
   4.) Create an aura of participation by asking for people's opinions in questions and polls.
   
   5.) Network with folks with similar interests so that you can share ideas and connect with other potential readers.
