   I've never run a blog contest, but I've noticed that the most successful ones are the ones with big rewards and low entry requirements. People like a lot of reward for just a little bit of work. The more work you require to make an entry, the bigger the prize needs to be.

   Good point, JoyChaser. This contest is for "bragging rights". While I realize offering a big reward would work great, I'm looking for "free" ideas on how to promote it, not necessarily reward partication.
   
   It's in a very narrow niche (ephemera collectors) so the big sites like Blogengage that cater to pro bloggers probably aren't a good fit. Maybe not? I don't know.

   The last contest I ran was to guess what I scored as a "10" in a blog post a month or so ago. Cardiogirl won it. The prize was a $25 gift certificate to Barnes and Noble.

    I just started my first blog contest as a way to encourage comments. It's for my Clay Aiken blog and the comment has to have a photo video or something that starts with at least one of the letters in "Clay" and "Christmas".Grand prize is a 10 dollar itunes card and the top 4 entries will be featured in the blog.
