   ask.com? but my blog seem to never have that one as my referrer, not once. on my blog there is a referrer monitor, and i have not one from Ask.
   
   how about pinging? what does it do to those pinged?

   You can submit your site anyways on www.google.com/addurl/ and on msn on search.msn.com/docs/submit.aspx?FORM=SUNO not sure if yahoo and ask.com have such forms.
   I also suggest using google webmaster tools www.google.com/webmasters/ to submit sitemaps, analyze your traffic and more.
   Also submitting eye-catching titles on stumbleupon and digg will bring you loads of traffic.
