How would you change your exercise routine if you couldn't afford a gym membership? Would you do anything different?

I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I don't go to the gym...I just walk my dogs a few miles a day

I don't go to gym because I have a sensitive nose and I dislike the smell of sweat and bleach together. You can stay in shape with 2 free weights. There are loads of body-resistance exercises you can do.

Best exercises that are all-rounders are skipping rope and burpees. There is a radio show in our country that promotes a 'get a six pack' routine. I guess it is aimed at guys, but it's body resistance training so girls can do it too:

I walk a lot, jog a little, and do a variety of conditioning exercises-indoors in winter, outdoors in summer. I was a gymnastics coach and bodybuilder for many years, so I'm pretty adept at keeping in shape.

I don't have money, or an exercise routine

I have everything I need at home, so nothing would change.

You can actually get a full body workout at home with a few dumbells, your bed, and a door. You can work out your arms with the dumbells, you can lay down on your bed diagonally so your head is at the corner and bench press with dumbells or free weights, you can also work out your lats by bracing a knee and elbow on the side of your bed while your torso is almost parallel to the ground and pulling dumbells towards your body with your free arm, you can do pullups by on a door by grabbing the top and pulling yourself up, you can get leg workout by doing jumping squats with dumbells, lunges, and calf lifts. Who needs a gym anyways?

Haha. You shouldn't bring milk to the gym anyways.

No milk that time -- just bottled water and a few choice words.

Actually, I am in this position right now. I had to cancel my expensive gym membership because I can no longer afford the fees. It was pretty typical fee for an upscale, city gym at 65 a month. I have been bike riding, walking and I am going to start utilizing the work out room in my building.

I don't have any kind of routine...for anything...not even for sleeping and eating...the day I get an exercise routine will be a very sad day for me

I've never belonged to a gym. Besides, the nearest gym is 60 miles away.
My exercise consists of hiking, shoeing and breaking horses and other "manual" pursuits.

every day is different exercises by DVD, then restart again.

It is harder to exercise alone, I like to do it with someone because if I am alone I get bored quickly

If i join a gym it would have to be a top notch one. I'd treat it as an event and day out. My routine would be include.

    1. A top pre-workout meal at the gym
    2. (Workout as normal)
    3. Post workout snack like peanut butter and jam sandwich
    4. Then relax properly in a sauna or steam room

I actually talked a lot about this in recent posts. Either way that is the perfect way i would change it if i had a membership at a TOP gym.
