Sarkozy in France is only doing what Angela Merkel in Germany and the Bundesrat in Switzerland was doing too. After all, the Dalai Lama is still the democratic chosen head of the Tibetians and the only person who can be adressed for questions about Tibet and China relationship.
Do you really think, the whole world is dancing the China tune and declares Dalai Lama as persona non grate. You and China seem to me too much as megalomaniacs.

Real freedom is:
1. complying to the Charta of Human Right, to the Public International Laws and Democracy.
A. including free Internet and free speech and free press.
B. exluding the 5000 - 6000 political prisoners shot every year (a sad world record!)
C. excluding torturing Tibetians for over 50 years
and so on...
you know better than to as back "What is real freedom!"

Is it true that if I go to a pub or bar in China, everyone will buy me a drink and be offended if I refuse?
What exactly is the custom if I'm wrong (I probably am) -

I know so little of the Chinese culture though my father called the eastern Chinese coast his home for nearly two years during World War II.
Most recently, I would listen to Chinese/English Language Radio News on my short wave as I hiked the 2,175 mile long Appalachian Trail wilderness in the eastern U.S. Enjoyed immensely! -

Hi rjl2000,
When we were living in Hong Kong, my wife and I visited your city in 1995, back when the Pudong tower was being built. The Peace Hotel was wonderful. You could go up to the top and have something to eat, then wander down through the old rooms. They were all open, nobody seemed to mind because the place was mostly empty.
My question is: Do many Chinese young people want to move away from China and settle in another country, or do they feel they have enough opportunities at home? What do your friends say?-
Now Shanghai has change a lot!that is more beautiful!
My answer to you question:
NOw there are a lot of young chinese guys in foreign country, speacaily in USA,european. Most of them would not to come back to china.
China is becoming more and more development, and for our young guys,we should meet more challenge. For example, the seeking job, buying house, support parents.Opportunity and challenge stay together!

On the east coast of the U.S. we have "duck sauce." It is basically a fruit flavored sugar sauce that goes great on rice or anything fried. On the west coast of the U.S., I haven't found it. Is there something in China that our Americanized duck sauce is based on?

I love your discussion here! I've been to Zhuhai, just north of Macau. Someday I hope to visit Shanghai and maybe even teach there. Are there lots of teaching jobs in Shanghai? Do you know anyone who hires teachers in Shanghai?

I have just finished reading this thread and would like to ask you:
Who has brainwashed you? Every time, somebody is asking you a politically difficult question, you play being stupid by asking "what is ....." claiming you are a complete nincompoop.
1st Question: Why do Chinese men only have one hair on their chest? (was a funny question, not answered)
2. Question: Mao invaded Tibet in 1949. Now China says, Tibet is China. Tibet belongs to China, although it was independent before. Don't you think, when somebody has stolen something, the thug should give it back? Or is steeling a national sport in China?
3. Why do Chinese hardly ever answer honestly what the think and hide behind lies?
(P.S. I know a lot of Chinese and have constant contact to them.) -
I would love to go to china do I need to learn some Chinese to get around or do some people speak English?
