DEO suprisingly refers to search engine optimization for Bing.. 'D.ecision E.ngine O.ptimization'

type 'what is DEO' into google and a post of mine pops up. I was making a joke when defining the term but it actually caught on and now more people are using it.. it's really all just SEO for Bing.

I think what you are asking is that if Bing is going to take the same position as Google on this issue.. I really don't think so, but I haven't read the new whitepaper on Bing SEO that came out the 11th, after I read(scan through) it I'll have a better answer for you.

As we move through web 2.0 to web 3.0 and more niche specific semantic search engines come online, IMO this pattern will not be uncommon. In other words, it was easier for Google to be a shining star when we were web 1.0. But as users develop greater search skills and actually learn how to use (hash)tags effectively, things will change.

Whether or not he comments the point is that your readers now understand the impact of the decision that has been made. The result is that it's less work for Google to deal wth spam, but it comprises freshness for the end user, and that sucks.

P.S. When it comes to rants it's always best to avoid publishing one. But in cases here there is a wrongness that must be "outed" drafting and editing and waiting 48 hours before the final draft is corrected and published is the way to go.

Much appreciated, TT. This was my first attempt at a semi-rant, It looks like I pulled it off so far. I've been watching Cutts for a while, his statements are usually vague and shallow which is ok - but this one is just wrong so I had to say something

I wonder if Matt Cutts will comment ;) lol yeah right.

Some bloggers claim their eyes glaze over when it comes to SEO but I find that you do an excellent job of demystifying it for your readers. If one is going to rant and this post of yours comes close to doing that, then IMO they ought to so so with intelligence and style or not at all. You have fully explained your position and clarified the reasons you have for taking it so IMO you scored.

Matt Cutts kicked me and the entire SEO community in the nuts June 02, when he spilled the beans about the new Google algorithm change.

I'm tough, the kick didn't really hurt and I wasn't planning on procreating (many say it's best I don't anyway)

But I can't sit idle and bite my tongue when anyone spews 'dangerous nonsense' which simply means nonsense from an authoritive source, it's dangerous - since people will listen to it.

Cutts claims that this recent change doesn't discourage linking. He's wrong and this post explains why this recent algorithm change is practically assault with a deadly weapon to a well linked internet.
