I've been a member of Twitter for quite some time, but not an active one. I simply couldn't wrap my mind around it earlier. Now I've been WORKING on figuring out the whole Twitter-craze and I think I finally get it.

For one: There's nothing else to do at Twitter except socialising. Most social networks have a lot of distraction available, especially editing your profile... That most people won't bother to read anyway. On Twitter, if you want to get something out of it, you have to take part.

For more things I figured out about Twitter, especially from the blogging point of view, take a look at my blog

I tried to understand Twitter, but got nowhere. Then I went to my doctor, who diagnosed me with Social Media Avoidance Disorder.

    There is no known cure.

I love twitter, now Im especially excited that c-span and Obama inaugural channels are following me, now they and my other followers get to read about how my life either sucks or its great. Though I'm really not sure if anyone really reads my twitter updates except a couple people cause they actually reply to me.

I've been hearing all this buzz about Twitter. And now I feel behind. It seems I just get caught up with all the electronic social networking, and suddenly there is something else to learn. This time, it's Twitter. The madness will never end. HAHA

i linked my twitter and my facebook. so everytime i update my twitter, it updates my facebook status as well... so that could be the reason i use it so much... plus i let people find me on twitter more often than on facebook.
  7. ckent27
That's a great idea to link the two. I will have to check in to that! The learning continues!!

it's easy. Just search for twitter on f/b and click the "applications" in the search results - add it and your sorted.

None of my friends here use twitter - never heard of it. I use it to connect with my friends in Indy and whoever I meet on here!

      Thanks DangerMouse.

I'm a new Twitter user, just a few days... I rarely use facebook but I have an account there. I just linked the two.

Thanks for pointing out the ease to do this...

Oh great! I had a loop in my Twitter-facebook status updates, and I had to remove every automatic status update thing. I forgot which application updates Facebook from Twitter, so thank you!

Also those who might find it interesting, there are also ways to update your Twitter status from Facebook - but you don't want to use both of them because then Facebook updates twitter, that updates facebook that updates Twitter....

Twitter is a tool for 'meme' sharing. Nothing more, nothing less.

Last time i checked the twitter app was broken. Having it update facebook is the bonus i'm looking for!
    1. SailboaterRob
The Twitter app in facebook is working.

I just installed it. Everything I post to twitter posts to facebook.

Also, I added my twitter link here at BC in my account. Now everything I post at twitter is also posting here too. Dang!

I rather like Twitter it is fun to play around with.

Sensico......don't get too excited. The Obama Inaug is pretty much following anybody who follows them, a few thousand people by now, and I'm one of them also! Their sole purpose is to post the latest inaug news/schedules, and I highly doubt they're reading any of the thousands of tweets of those they're following.
    1. sensico
I know, I know but its still cool and technically they aren't following everyone who follows them. Plus once the inaug is over, I'll be the one cutting them off.

I set up an acct today but as I checked it out I don't see what's all the buzz. Don't think I'll be using it.
    1. Sebastyne
That was exactly why I blogged about it. It doesn't seem interesting AT ALL when you first join. It took me 2 weeks of active work to figure out why people like it so much.

Screw up everything on twitter.. its fun.
    1. sensico
how do you screw up something on twitter? and how could that be fun?
    2. dosox
it's fun... you can always say it Good Morning Mr Obama... Now that's just another tweet.

Screwing up anything can be fun.... just not usually for those on the receiving end

I'm beginning to catch on now too. It's a fantastic networking tool, enabling you to touch base with people that are in your industry in a way that wouldn't be available otherwise!

The Phoenix Suns are using it with Shaquille O'neal. He's a big Twitter user. I'm following him.

I'm following Steven Fry. He just left Australia and got home to UK. I know you all needed to know.

I've found it to be one of the best methods to keep very current on news. By following only the hash tags I am interested in I very often find the news I'm interested in before it comes across Fox, CNN, MSNBC, Drudge, etc...

    Facebook vs Twitter
TwiTip.com has a great post on what the differences and what the similarities are between Facebook and Twitter. The article highlights the pros and cons of both services and what type of person each service appeals to. A very interesting article. Below are the pros and cons of each service. Take a look. www.sethgoldstein.net/2009/01/12/facebook-vs-twitter/

To me comparing Facebook and Twitter is like comparing apples and oranges... both fruit but very different.

For those of you temporarily creating an account and then have plans to delete it afterwards .. in a few days ...

You're probably right. Twitter will never catch on. Just like email. Instant messaging. Camera phones.

geez when i socialize, i go out and talk to people, and it gets me all a twitter. is that what you mean?

Any tips on finding weird niches to follow and hopefully get followers from? I have a site about a font, www.papyruswatch.com It's pretty specific but the the right people get a big kick out of it.
