I got fired from my company 2 months back! I was so sad and I was completely down, felt like dying... I cant put it in words what I went through...
I want to change something...the people who make us go through this? Do you feel we can bring this change by using the net and by networking with people?

I'm sorry you lost your job. I'm not sure what the internet can do to help. Perhaps networking with others in your field will bring you to a good job?

I understand how you feel because I have been in your shoes. I encourage you to find someone to share your feelings and experiences with. Focus on the future and not what happened to you or it will eat you up.
Several years ago I was unemployed for 6 six months and what I found was I went through a roller coaster of feelings. I allowed what happened to me to control my feelings and so I was up one day and then I would crash the next day. When I took control of my feelings I found that I stayed up longer. When I was up my interviews went better than when I was down.
If you do not have a friend to share with then let's dialog back and forth.
If you take control of your feelings I believe things will get better and you will have an impact on changing things out of a desire to improve things not out of bitterness.

Getting fired is totally shitty.
But don't retreat into bed. Structure your day as if you were still working. Get up at the same time and leave home at the same time. Go to the job centres, library, newspaper offices, training courses and keep busy and purposeful.
Call in every favour you have ever been owed. Tell all your family and friends to get active on your behalf, looking for another job.
Good luck with it

I agree with both Anok and Inclark. If you use the net, you might find ajob through networking and job searching. You may find some kindred spirits with whom you can have sort of a "support group".
I don't think that you are going to be able to successfully change the mind of your former employer by bashing them on the net for letting you go. Hell, the way things have been going, your boss may now be unemployeed as well and be in the same boat as you.
Best of luck to you in finding gainful employment. One suggestion that I would make... look for GREEN JOBS or ways to start a business taking advantage of the "GREEN WAVE". The government is making lots of money and grants available for this. You can make your own job if you are smart and act quickly... but you will have to focus and do some research. Use your now ample free time effectively.
Keep us posted.-
Great suggestion! I lost my job about a month ago and have been looking online pretty much continuously. I would suggest joining a professional organization near you and going to their networking events. I would also suggest taking this time to further your tech skills and earn some more accreditations. I was just accredited by the USGBC as a Green Building professional. Now I have another avenue to explore looking for jobs.
The key is to be proactive and don't let your spirits get too low. I find my mood changes from day to day. Some days I am so low I can barely get out of bed. Other days, I feel energized.
I would discourage you from disparaging your old employer. I think you'll find that most industries are actually pretty small worlds. Everyone knows everyone else through someone else. Saying or conniving against someone is bound to come back at you and bite you in the butt.

Hi,
I'm sorry you've got fired, but these things happen'... I totaly agree with previous posts that networking with others in your field could bring you to a next job. Maby even better one.
Advise: don't be sad, angry, furious... do not try to get even. don't hate. Turn your head to YOUR future. I got fired few times myself even if I was good employee. Even if I had good resume. It was not my fault, but it happened. I understood why. Every next time I got better position.
Those were "life lessons"... -
Actually view it as an opportunity to get a better place. It's also a time where you need to say that you are going to increase your skills and abilities in your fields so that next time you will rock!
If you take it negatively, it's too easy to get smack down in your sadness. Get over it and set for your goals in life! Analyse where you went wrong and where you need to consolidate!
All the best!

Sorry to hear about your job. I hope everything works out for you!
My husband was recently laid off and it sucks big time! I'm hoping it'll be a change for the better, but we'll see. -
It is always a good idea to keep networked even while you are employed. Use websites like linked in and Plaxo to keep you connected to your work contacts, former employers, and recruiters... if you keep in touch with them there is a huge chance that you will not stay unemployed long! I am constantly getting offers from recruiters that i simply reply back... I am happy at my current position but feel free to keep me informed... If my situation changes I quickly broadcast that I am looking and normally I am deluged with great opportunities.
-
Thanks to all you people who took out time to reply to me... But i surely believe we can bring a change... good luck and I promise you i will be back!!

Depends on what you mean by 'bringing a change.'
If you're expecting to remove all jerks from society: I don't think you'll succeed. I'm not being defeatist: just realistic.
In your position, I'd focus more on getting your feet back on the ground, and getting a (better) job, or starting your own company, if that's possible. (It doesn't have to take a lot of money - if you've got expertise in some field, you could be a consultant - just an example.)

Thanks for all the people who replied. Thanks alot.
I read one article here and I couldn't help sharing it, its just so optimistic, I hope it helps others also:
Be Optimistic: Times will change
Economic recession reminds me of the winter storms we have in Virginia. When a storm is coming, everyone in town goes to the store for two things: bread and milk. Never mind that the store is stocked with every imaginable food and beverage. It's always the basics. Always the bread and milk. And I think that's because it's the basics we find comfort in during the storms we face. And during this bad times, the basics will get us through...
I know people are suffering, and I hate that. However, I also believe that every cloud has a silver lining. I hate reading only about lay-offs, bailouts and recession. So here are some benefits of the current recession... Read the complete article at:

God Bless You all and help you to pass these tough times. -
Oh, man, it is quite normal to be fired during great depression, so don't think too much about it. What you should do now is create a new job by yourself just like me, you can also go to find a new job. It's not the end of the world, don't worry about it, take it easy, Okay? Life should continue, everything will be find quite soon.

What an awful thing to go through. Some companies are just 'political' and have strong cliques. This may actually be a good thing for you. Try to turn it into a positive. Find a niche that suits you, and know that you are not alone. Any excuse these days for downsizing and lots of competition. Keep networking on the web, with friends, associates, etc. I guess you have to do some introspection, then look forward, not behind. Make a decision to be positive and don't beat yourself up.

I got laid off in the spring of 2006. That wasn't fun, and my wife really misses the regular paychecks.
On the other hand, it was a great opportunity (and motivation) for starting a collection of blogs and websites.
Anyone in our position has quite a few choices.
These include feeling hurt, and betrayed, and mistreated. That doesn't feel good, and doesn't get much done, either.
Or, the free time we have can be used for looking for another job, setting up a business: something productive. -
The best way to do something about it is to provide the same service that the company provides, in a better way at a better price. Work out and plan nothing is too small and nothing is too big for the individual to achieve. Have the end in mind at all times but start off small.
However, Time is against you and ACTION is the key.
I'm in the same boat as you except i quit my job due to high stress levels and workload.
FOCUS on Action and don't waste time. -

I agree with gm0nk3y. Making money by blogging is NOT easy and the income does NOT come in quickly. In blogging content is king and marketing is queen. If you write good content and promote it then the result may be an increase in organic traffic, or not. If it’s not easy to locate your content in search engines then there will be no increase in new traffic. Thus, what determines success is two things:
* whether or not your content is found, and
* whether or not the readers who do find it become subscribers.
We’ve all heard the hype about making millions with our blogs, but the fact remains that very few bloggers have the degree of expertise required to produce content that brings in the massive number of hits on advertisements that are required to make a living from blogging.
The truth is that there are no shortcuts to making money from blogging. You need to have a knowledge base and skill sets that make it possible for you to “deliver the goods”.
If you intend to blog for money then I hope this post will help you achieve your goal:
