Upgraded my cable here this last week.
This channel is nuts! I can't believe soccer 7 days a week. This is too addicting. I was up until 3:30 am the other night watching games.

I have to say the teams around the world are great. I don't know many guys though. I think it will a long time to learn all the teams and names of the big players.

Probably it will take a lot of printing out teams and so on to help me.

How this sport is not really big in my country I will never understand.

    Welcome to the real world.

Don't you find it hard to watch on television? I played soccer in high school and love a live soccer game--ANY live soccer game, including grade school--but I generally don't watch it on television unless it's the World Cup or something similarly compelling, because not being able to see the whole field really alters the experience.

That is very true, Madame X, not being able to see the whole field can sometimes make it difficult to appreciate what is happening. You are a woman full of positive surprises...former lawyer...author...soccer player, to name but three things I've learned about you today. But I digress.

I cant wait for the day when the TV co's wake up and give us a choice of camera angles from which to watch soccer. Sometimes the behind the goal view gives a much better perspective.

Most days I leave FSC on while I'm blogging. I usually look up to watch the TV only when the commentator gets excited. Find its easier than leaving a news channel on as with news I find myself listening rather than blogging.

In the UK you can choose your camera angle.

Wow, I'm genuinely impressed...and prostrate myself at your feet in honor of your way superior technology.

I'm guessing you're talking about on Sky ...as opposed to the boring channels?

      How many angles?
    4. aningeniousname
Well you have a choice of about six and then there is a player cam which follows a star player. Yeah that's on Sky.

Way impressed! I'm already drafting a snotty email to Comcast our cable provider...asking them to get their fingers out of their ya-yas.

I don't have no problem with it.

You can't see the entire field on any sports on TV really. Your eyes should be where the ball is anyway. The camera is always on the guy with the ball.
    1. MadameX
I think in soccer that's not at all true. Limiting your vision to where the ball is leaves out a lot of important information. Perhaps more so than in other sports, or perhaps I simply don't notice it in other sports because I'm not paying as much attention--though they're all somewhat less compelling on television than live.

I really like soccer a lot but I think it is like hockey where it doesn't come across as well on television. (Actually hockey is 10000000x better on HD)

    There's a soccer channel?
    1. oxymoran
Well actually there's 3 channels, 7/24 in the USA...Setanta, Gol and Fox Soccer Channel. In fact there's more TV hours devoted to soccer on TV in the US than any of the other sports such as football, baseball, basketball and hockey.

It's pleasing to see football/soccer is catching on in the USA, at least enough to have a channel dedicated to it.

What kind of matches does it show? Premier League? International? Presumably most of the games are not shown live?
  6. RuinousRight
Hope it's nothing like Fox News Channel or the games will be slanted in favor of one particular league and full of liars and cheats.

    Enjoy either way.

Sounds like you are sorted! Ha ha!

What's the best match you've watched so far? How's Monsieur Beckham fitting in with LA Galaxy? I'm presuming you are in the US - so if I'm wrong I apologise!

Well I had it only two days so far. But every game I seen was pretty fun.
11pm tonight they got Premier League Manchester City vs Portsmouth. I also saw Italian soccer. AC Milan vs Reggina is on later.

In my schedule I see a lot of Premier League and Italian soccer games. They also show some MLS games. Yeah a lot of the games are Live also.

Hey guys here is what they show. Not all the games are on all year of course. The seasons end at all different times around the world.

Okay, I don't have this and I'm a little irked about it. I don't even KNOW how many cable channels I have, but it's hundreds upon hundreds (and they don't come cheap). I just tried to turn this one on and got a "not authorized" message.
  11. mikeny07
That means you are not subscribed to it. It may be part of a sports package.

Some channels like TVG I don't get, which is horse racing. Every cable company is probably different.

You really should get it. I only watched it a couple days here and it is great. I don't know many teams yet but I am learning at least.

Looks like America is finally getting some decent soccer coverage. Although I suspect the channel is as much aimed at British/Irish/Scottish pubs as it is home viewers.
