Why do you hate, when they don't even know you. it's just like you are kicking the shadow of the moon in a pond.
    lol
    Nice blog anyway
    1. shravan1000
exactly! They don't even care about you ! Bollywood has a huge fan base and one hater isn't gonna make a difference at all!
  2. neobluepanther
    Nope, I love Bollywood!!! :o)
  3. nifraz
@ weblogian - thanks buddy.... and i do feel it that way.. so by any way have you ever watched any of those bollywood movies. if so.. what is your say about it
  4. dratiffarid
    I like Bollywood.

Maybe you are comparing Bollywood and Hollywood. In that sense, Hollywood produces some good quality movies.

But Bollywood is not bad at all - I would still watch the latest Shahrukh, Aamir or Hrithik movie.
    1. weblogian
We cannot compare Hollywood and Hollywood cos they are culturally world apart.
Do you notice most Hollywood movies are on Hijack situation,Aliens, species etc.
I have never seen a unique movie very lately
    2. nplbjirel
@weblogian: Bollywood and Hollywood can't be same. If they are same, then we can call Bollywood also as Hollywood. No? There is difference. So, Bollywood.
    3. weblogian
      @nplbjirel
Do you understand what I said
  5. nplbjirel
I doubt. Are all what you have said in your blog your real feelings? I think you are doing this thinking it may create buzz about your blog. I don't mean we all should love this industry by the way.

But, I don't say I hate Bollywood. I have seen many Bollywood films and really like some of them.
  6. nifraz
bollywood is not only about the hindi cinema... it's about music, fashion and glamour too....
  7. ThriftShopRomantic
I've enjoyed very much the couple of Bollywood movies I've seen.

It's different than Hollywood film-- the campiness of the humor is charming, and some of the music I found quite enjoyable.
  8. Future
Bollywood is evolving very fast dude.
Now we don't get that many "stupid" files.
Lots of meaningful and enjoyable movies r being created these days.
  9. nifraz
@ Future -- its nice to hear positive response aboout it.....

@ ThriftShopRomantic - well yes indeed its totally different from hollywood movies
  10. fazeelyns
    I like bollywodd movies
  11. nifraz
@ fazeelyns - what kind of movies do you watch?
  12. Aluajala
Um.. well I don't watch bolywood movies so I don't care
Here in Russia there was a big boom of bolywood movies about 20 yrs ago. My family used to watch indian movies. I didn't like them especially those that were watched over and over again. Now most of my family members are passed away and noone watches these movies nor do I.
  13. nifraz
@ Aluajala - hmm some intresting fact... but i think you should try them out... i'm sure you'll love them.... specially the songs.....
    1. Aluajala
      Nah.. Never again
Besides I prefer different kind of music
  14. nifraz
    have watched tamil movies??
  15. nifraz
@ Aluajala -- it has diffrent kind of music.. roch.. country... hip hop... r nad b ... you name it......
    1. Aluajala
You seemed to hate Bolywood - how come you know all music from indian movies and advice me to watch em? ))
  16. Hangingonahyphen
I honestly don't know much about bollywood so why would I hate it? But I read it's like a 'movie mill' so at the very least it provides lots of employment which is not a bad thing...
  17. Norski
Like Hangingonahyphen, I know very little about Bollywood.

What I do understand is that it's an economic and cultural phenomenon that's similar in some respects to Hollywood during the first part of the 20th century.

I don't expect that many Bollywood films, or related products, will be the subject of breathlessly positive discussion in campus coffee shops, here in America. And I certainly won't expect a Bollywood film to show up in Cannes anytime soon.

But, aside from a failure to appeal to the earnestly esoteric art crowd, and some probable moral issues, I don't see anything to hate. It looks like Bollywood is producing something that people who live around the 50th percentile like: and I have not problem with that.
  18. LaMirabelle
I love it ! The films are so idealistic.
  19. ranist22
I have wonderful memories of Bollywood and the lovely music (and the dances etc!)
  20. Jeunelle
I saw some really good films in Bollywood that didn't get the acknowledgment it deserved
and some really aweful Hollywood film that did get acknowledged, so I am my own critic when it comes to films, whether they're from Bollywood, Hollywood or home made movies.
  21. nifraz
@ Jeunelle -- very true.... bollywood doesn't get the due recognition
  22. flawedangel
When I want to give thinking a break for a mindless 3-hours (and then some sometimes)... I have been known to 'escape' via a campy, kitschy complete-with-psychedelic 10-costume-change dance sequence Bollywood offering.

Besides, we can't watch Kurosawa/Bunuel/Kubrick ALL the time, now can we?
    1. Norski
Good point: One of my favorite films is Kurosawa's "Seven Samurai" / "Shichinin no samurai."

      Another is Anderson's Meet the Robinsons ( www.imdb.com/title/tt0396555/ ).

I like Shakespeare (if done by actors who play the parts instead of 'acting Shakespearean' - another topic entirely) and the Three Stooges.

The point is, I don't see anything wrong with enjoying light entertainment, or the most heavy-duty, industrial-strength drama available - providing that the person enjoys what's happening, and gets something out of it. That can be a few hours of mental R and R, or the pleasure of following a well-drafted-and-directed drama.

I love bollywood.. just like I love Hollywood and any of the other Woods... Infact I have written reviews of some movies that I've seen in my blog www.jjs-decides-to-blog.blogspot.com/
  24. arshad
i love celina jaitley and riya sen .. very cute actresses
  25. nifraz
yeah.. i think its better to watch all sorts of movies... cuz then it gives you a good understanding about movie industries around the world....
  26. nifraz
so what kind of movies do you watch?
  27. nifraz
    bollywood..........
  28. finaltemplate
how would I know if you really hate it,... ?
  29. dsriharsha
    eh?
you start off saying you hate bollywood. And then later, you recommend watching bollywood movies. And further still you go on to say bollywood doesnt get recognition??

    I personally prefer Hrithik/Aamir movies.
Can barely sit through a Shah Rukh/ Karan Johar movie without being annoyed
  30. nifraz
@ dsriharsha !! yeah.. well i know... but that's what the majority do.....deny that they watch but while they do..... so i thought of writing my post that way....
  31. doel

bollywood movie has a global appeal now a days...many movies have already got nominated for Oscars...every culture has its unique way of expressing something..After going through the subtitles I found Bollywood movies full of emotions..So there is no point hating it.
  35. nifraz
    @ oskar1207 -- i agree
  36. nifraz
but why do people hate it?
  37. jeremylong
i love bollywood, don't know why...

i find the shows / films quite interesting, really

anyway, not all Hollywood movies are that appealing!
  38. farazahmed
Bollywood girls may be appealing and hot, doesn't make their movies look good. Well i don't like bollywood, because nothing seems rational enough to believe, they always make big deal out of everything.

PS: ive heard they did matrix too, wonder what keanu think when his part be dancing on some silly music
  39. Jhangora
I love bollywood though don't see many movies now ...
  40. oskar1207
@nifraz....people do not hate bollywood movies...I would rather say that "hate " is avery strong term, It has become a self sufficient profit making unit..Even many British actors are always ready to act there...But I don't understand the necessity of too many songs in between a movie though some of them are really grt to listen(though the language is alien...yet..the tunes are great.)
  41. oskar1207
    farazahmed

movies are for entertainment...rationality doesn't matter. At least Bollywood have succeeded in grabbing the attention of the western masses as the recent movies have a global appeal potraying a culture which is a mix of both west and east..I think Pakistani movie industry has a long way to go to reach there..we like Bollywood movies a lot over here in US.(but with subtitles)...
  42. farazahmed
    oskar1207

I totally agree. Bollywood is way ahead than us! Im just saying that i like only Hollywood movies, although there are few bollywood movies which are good.
  43. LaMirabelle
    oh yes ! Like "Guru"
  44. farazahmed
I loved Swades. The whole story was great.
  45. farazahmed
If they could make movies like that it would be great.. and ya not to mention, "Tare zameen par" .
