Bollywood. Have anyone heard of that word. Bollywood with a big B. if you wonder what it is all about let me tell you.. It’s the term used to introduce the Indian movie industry. Some say that its the biggest movie industry in the world. But i hate bollywood. i don’t like at all. i simply cant stand on bollywood movies at all. It’s just stupid, bizarre and predictable.so i hate it. but do i really hate it ????

Why do you hate, when they don't even know you. it's just like you are kicking the shadow of the moon in a pond.
lol
Nice blog anyway -
I like Bollywood.
Maybe you are comparing Bollywood and Hollywood. In that sense, Hollywood produces some good quality movies.
But Bollywood is not bad at all - I would still watch the latest Shahrukh, Aamir or Hrithik movie. -
Um.. well I don't watch bolywood movies so I don't care
Here in Russia there was a big boom of bolywood movies about 20 yrs ago. My family used to watch indian movies. I didn't like them especially those that were watched over and over again. Now most of my family members are passed away and noone watches these movies nor do I. -
@ Aluajala - hmm some intresting fact... but i think you should try them out... i'm sure you'll love them.... specially the songs.....
-
@ Aluajala -- it has diffrent kind of music.. roch.. country... hip hop... r nad b ... you name it......

Like Hangingonahyphen, I know very little about Bollywood.
What I do understand is that it's an economic and cultural phenomenon that's similar in some respects to Hollywood during the first part of the 20th century.
I don't expect that many Bollywood films, or related products, will be the subject of breathlessly positive discussion in campus coffee shops, here in America. And I certainly won't expect a Bollywood film to show up in Cannes anytime soon.
But, aside from a failure to appeal to the earnestly esoteric art crowd, and some probable moral issues, I don't see anything to hate. It looks like Bollywood is producing something that people who live around the 50th percentile like: and I have not problem with that. -
When I want to give thinking a break for a mindless 3-hours (and then some sometimes)... I have been known to 'escape' via a campy, kitschy complete-with-psychedelic 10-costume-change dance sequence Bollywood offering.
Besides, we can't watch Kurosawa/Bunuel/Kubrick ALL the time, now can we?
-
Good point: One of my favorite films is Kurosawa's "Seven Samurai" / "Shichinin no samurai."
Another is Anderson's Meet the Robinsons ( www.imdb.com/title/tt0396555/ ).
I like Shakespeare (if done by actors who play the parts instead of 'acting Shakespearean' - another topic entirely) and the Three Stooges.
The point is, I don't see anything wrong with enjoying light entertainment, or the most heavy-duty, industrial-strength drama available - providing that the person enjoys what's happening, and gets something out of it. That can be a few hours of mental R and R, or the pleasure of following a well-drafted-and-directed drama.

Bollywood girls may be appealing and hot, doesn't make their movies look good. Well i don't like bollywood, because nothing seems rational enough to believe, they always make big deal out of everything.
PS: ive heard they did matrix too, wonder what keanu think when his part be dancing on some silly music

@nifraz....people do not hate bollywood movies...I would rather say that "hate " is avery strong term, It has become a self sufficient profit making unit..Even many British actors are always ready to act there...But I don't understand the necessity of too many songs in between a movie though some of them are really grt to listen(though the language is alien...yet..the tunes are great.)

movies are for entertainment...rationality doesn't matter. At least Bollywood have succeeded in grabbing the attention of the western masses as the recent movies have a global appeal potraying a culture which is a mix of both west and east..I think Pakistani movie industry has a long way to go to reach there..we like Bollywood movies a lot over here in US.(but with subtitles)...
