   the h1 header purple is adequate on the grey background. The cc3366 or whatever purple that is for the date, and number of comments - is hard to read. (same with mouseover color transition in sidebars)
   
   BTW - you should rename your "uncategorized" category (manage/categories) to either
   (a) Announcements or
   (b) Too Lazy to create categories
   
   And, the header is too big actually - good width, too much height. There's a reason for tiny headers - so people who consider to advertise on your blog are closer to the top or fold.
   
   I would add a search box on top of sidebar.
