This is a viral video that has been featured on CNN and other stations.

What makes this commercial funny is that the main line is "at the Red House where black people and white people buy furniture."

I cannot make this up if I tried.

do you think that a commercial like this is funny?
Would a commercial like this compel you to buy furniture from this company?

    Answer: No, not at all.

Answer: No. It has the opposite effect on me.

Hey Timethief, long time no talk. I think that it is funny and cute. It is harmless and breaks down walls based on ignorance. That is just my harmless opinion

      Edited.....
why would you not shop there?
why do you think it is not funny?

The color of one's skin has nothing whatsoever to do with selling or buying furniture. The fact that skin color and racial unity is being used as a "cutesy" sales device just to get a laugh turns me right off. IMO this commercial is in bad taste so I didn't even watch it to the end.

      TT,

I agree with you 100% when you say that skin color should not matter. It does not matter to me, but I think that this is sooooo funny because it shows you how stupid people can be when it comes to the color of ones skin.
I think that it raises awareness and if one can find the humor in it will bring a smile to your face.

You are an American living in the south. I am a Canadian living on the west coast. I do not relate at all to this commercial.

If you want to sell me furniture then spiel me furniture. If you deviate at all from furniture then I'm no longer listening.

For clarity if I hired you to make a commercial for my business, and you attempted to integrate any agendas like "awareness of this that or the other thing", rather than maintaining single focus on my product/service I would fire you on the spot.

(BTW in our home we rarely watch TV and when we do we mute all commercials.)

I fast forward most commercials..... when i record tv. Do enjoy commercials but rarely am i influenced to buy something from them.

timethief, you should read the video description. Its creators were well aware of the effect it would have because of its contents and ... well, you're better off reading it yourself (unless you don't want to, which is okay).

It's not an actual TV commercial, anyway.
    7. timethief
I have no interest in video descriptions or in commercials. There's a split second between the time my brain registers "commercial" and I turn it off.

      Have it your way ...

context is everything. descriptions offer context.

    That was hilarious!

kinda makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside

I thought it was a waste of time until the guy jumped on the couch. From then on, I couldn't stop laughing!

      Can't miss the making-of: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ssTf3Ts7SgI

I thought it was funny. The people seem nice so yeah I would shop there.

i didn't think it was immensely offensive and i didn't find it funny at all.

it was just such a poor production.
    1. gmoney
LOL yes the production was painful
  5. jflower36
I thought it was kind of odd, and a little embarrassing for the guys in the video.

This would be censored in France: sounds racist somehow. I don't who the marketing guy was but he should change job
  7. intarso
I don't find it particularly funny, but the people seem to be friendly and nice and made me smile, so I'm sure if I needed furniture I would shop there, rather than Walmart.
    1. elitethinker
If it was something like David vs Goliath it would be more funny.
  8. gmoney
I am surprised that people did not find this funny. Why must we be so sensitive?
    1. intarso
I don't find it offensive. It's cute, but not hilarious. There is much funnier stuff on youtube.

      Failblog's videos for instance.

It's obviously a great marketing tool though - I doubt this store could have ever dreamed of getting so much publicity.

Their one for the Cuban gynecologist; American autosalesman was pretty funny though.

damn this commercial had me rolling

I am glad that some people have a sense of humor.
