This isn't really about promoting my blog, but I'm including the link, so...

I recently finished an abstract painting & I need input on which way it should be hung (as in "which side up.") The 3 options I'm considering are here;
lucidflora.blogspot.com/2009/02/your-opinion-needed-new-birds.html

Feel free to either respond here or in my comments & thanks for the help in advance.

    Absolutely, 100% the first option.

It caught me by the gut - the other options just look...contrived.

    I pick #1!
  3. sensico
    yep, definitely the first one
  4. sunnyberra
    I like #3, personally

You would pick number 3 wouldn't you!

Thiefeing thiefer who thiefes! Stay away from ma' coffee!

      Too late--already got it
Yum (and don't bother trying to find your keys or wallet >bwahahahaha< It's mine! All mine!)
And most definitely 3--because...well, I said so and I rock (or so the voices tell me). My lack of artistic understanding does not hinder in my ability to turn my uninformed opinion into a *fact*.
So, probably, no one should care what my opinion is. Just saying.

I thought I was awfully tired...but you can keep the wallet. It's only a home for lonely moths, anyway.

Just be sure to feed them for me.
    4. sunnyberra
Of course I'd steal the empty wallet. My priorities are so screwed.
Oh, well, I'm sure more coffee will help cheer me up *g*

yup, #1, that's the natural flow!

I stared at them for a few minutes, and the one that seems to draw my eye the most is the first one.

#1, absolutely, and apparently some major artists agree with me on this.
  8. crpitt
    Number 3 definitely

wow! you're really a cool artist. keep it up! i go for ###1 !

Thanks for all of the kind words & input. I must admit, I'd originally leaned toward #3, myself. No reason I can rig it to hang either like #1 OR #3 (I just didn't want to go to the trouble of rigging it to hang in any direction, y'know? I don't know if I have that many screw eyes lying around right now, actually. *L*)
    1. Friday13
Hang it by one of its corners. That way you can have something that's between 1 and 3
    2. LGramlich
      Don't laugh...I considered that, too.

it's your painting, your imagination, your creativity, so do it your way!
    1. LGramlich
But it's for sale, so it should be hung however my potential customer's going to like it (which, as it seems so far, will most likely be #1.)

I like #1. Looks like grass growing upward. If you turn it 180 degrees, then the painting looks like dripping paint or blood, but that's not one of the options you gave. Definitely not #2 or #3 - it goes against our natural sense of balance (unless that's what you are going for). (I didn't help at all, did I!)
  13. PaulineSalvucci
Number one looks most in balance. It's stunning!
  14. satijournal
I like #2. The first one seems to lead my eyes up out of the canvas. The third one looks like you read it from right to left, which seems to make it unbalanced. But the second one is just right.
  15. ranist22
I liked the first the best. It seemed the most harmonious.
  16. Streetmusician
Don't know why, but I kinda like no.2.
At first it was definately 1, but after much thought, I settled on 2.
  17. jafabrit
#1 for me. the drips going side to side visually doesn't work for me.
  18. LGramlich
Thanks again, all, for the input. My hubby voted #1, as well. It has a kind of underwater quality that way (despite the lack of any blue paint.)
  19. NewsMeBack
    Great choice

I left you a comment on your blog.
When I view the 3 the only one I'm attracted to is #1. I'm attracted to it because as others have said to me it appears to depict reeds and bubbles in a pond. To me the bubbles symbolize hope rising to the top and bursting into the air.

I voted #3 for my own "thinning" reasons (using some info from Feng Shui I recently learned). I made a comment on your blog about it. You're very talented! Nice piece--no matter which way you look at it! Warmly, Barbara
  22. LGramlich
Thanks again, all. I've figured out an easier way to rig it so it can hang in any direction, so I'm going to do that, after all. Thanks for your opinions, though! I appreciate your "take" on it.
