I just saw the following article:

Police arrest naked 'Terminator'

The cinema is all-pervasive; as the philosopher Slavoj Zizek says, it is the "ultimate pervert art" as it "doesn't tell you what to desire...it tells you how to desire".

In what ways have you imitated the cinema - either by reciting lines, or adopting fashions, or anything all - in your real lives?

I had what I like to refer to as a "problem-boyfriend" once...So I took a que from my favorite movie, Goodfellas..and lets just say he's hasn't been bothering me since.

Did it involve shovels and a bag full of lime?

Yes and yes...I also made sure and stopped at my mother's house for a quick meal before getting to the manual labor.

After watching the "Mad Max" series, I always feel bad when I spill a little gas at the pump when I pull the nozzle from the tank. Really.

When I was 18 and in college, I needed a make over to put it lightly. I was still dressing the way I did in high school, with the grungy mens flannel shirts, baggy clothes, greasy hair, combat boots and low self esteem. So, one day I decided that the grungy, sad nerd girl would no longer be me.

How did I come to this conclusion?

Clueless starring Alicia Silverstone, Paul Rudd and Britney Murphy. I washed my hair and got an attractive long, layered cut. I started wearing plaid miniskirts and heels along with tank tops and cardigans. I taught myself to apply make-up. I giggled a lot. I made faux dizzy comments that would crack my friends up because they knew that I was actually quite smart.

Yeah, my Clueless phase lasted quite a long time. Then I entered my Sliding Doors, Gwynneth Paltrow phase, complete with cute Pixie hair cut. Then it was Sex and the City with expensive purses, shoes, and martinis. (I was more Charlotte than Carrie.)

Now, I am not quite anything. Having no workplace to go to, it seems a waste of time and effort to spend all that money on a look. I will admit, when I do go back to work, I really like the Andy post make-over in Devil Wears Prada. Very cute outfits.

In the mid-fifties, after Rebel Without A Cause came out, every pubescent male in my neighborhood dressed, talked and acted like James Dean.

I think hubby and I have stolen a line from Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead for just about every common situation. Even simply being bored can spawn, "Do you want to play questions?"
