    Epi had the swine flu a few weeks ago. She said it was milder than tonsillitis. You may have something else, but if you have swine flu, I'm relatively sure you'll be alright.

    See your doctor of course!

    So long as you don't have any pre-existing conditions, the mortality rate of swine flu is quite low. However I entirely agree with cathy, at least check with your doctor.

    You should get tami-flu right away! Seriously--it doesn't work if you wait too long.

    I hope you feel better soon, Dosox!

      I'd be careful about the Tamiflu - here's one personal account:

      I have used tami-flu since 1999--when I was working on my master's thesis and it saved me from having to get an extension on my defense.

      If I thought I had swine flu--I would immediately go to the doctor to get some tamiflu. I really don't hold too much in store for anecdotal evidence--I tend to rely on a wider body of scientific research in making decisions. There are always isolated cases of people who report a problem with any kind of treatment/vaccine--but for the *large* majority of the people, the treatments are a good idea.

      @Melinda
      Are you aware of the Tamiflu resistant strains of this flu that have been reported? The current strain of H1N1 influenza A virus has been circulating in several countries since it first appeared in Mexico in April.

      The Tamiflu-resistant strain in Hong Kong was found during routine sensitivity testing of the swine flu virus to both oseltamivir and zanamivir, the Hong Kong Department of Health said in a statement on its website.

    Ack, I sure hope you won't! Call your doctor's office and see if they can either fit you in, or recommend somewhere for you to go get tested.

    And then get some rest. I had a non-swinely flu this week myself and it's exhausting.

    Don't worry. Stay positive. Rest. Drink lots of fluids. Consider natural virus treatments that have worked well for others like Oscillococcinum, Colloidal Silver and a blended supplement containing Goldenseal, Astragalus and Echinacea combination. Garlic is good to so some soup with fresh garlic in it wouldn't be a bad idea. You will be fine in a few days. Good luck.

    Dosox, I am glad you are better now. Swine flu rarely becomes fatal.Still, it is dreadful, nice to note you did not get that deadly virus.

    You're young and strong. Hopefully not!

    Get as much rest as you can and consume more water than usual. Drink something to replace the electrolytes that you'll lose from sweeting, by drinking Powerade or Gatorade.

    Take care Maciding!
