I know there are a lot of debates here about whether or not Twitter actually drives any traffic to your blog. Well, I figure the more exposure the better, and there's no way it could hurt me so I’d like to give it a try.

Here’s the problem… Yes, I’ve been living under a rock, in a cave .. whatever you want to call it.

I don’t understand Twitter.

What it is, how you’d use it for your blog, how you’d get followers etc?

So, can someone give me a Twitter for Dummies overview?

I set up an account today… now what? How do I even connect with other people?

Sorry for being a new technology moron (although, I suppose Twitter is far from *new*).. so, maybe I'm just a moron!

I hear you. I had hard time figuring out Twitter myself. Here's what I posted after 2 weeks of actively studying it:

And mind you, I still don't quite 'get' it, but now I understand how it's supposed to work if you take to it.

I see I have forgotten to mention one important point in that post: You can list yourself into twitter directories (there are heaps) that people will be able to find you on.

You can follow as many people as possible, but if they don't follow you, they won't know about your blog. On blogspot there's a button to "share" your blog which gives you three choices; one is twitter. I just paste my blog website address into it. But like you, I have hardly any followers because I don't use it! Now facebook is another thing....I gets lots of traffic from there.
