After the financial mess where CEO's robbed shareholders of their hard earned money, nothing really shocks me. Is everyone aware that these shareholders get nothing? I still don't know how this is FAIR.
People are just out for themselves today. The majority of people in life I don't think realize this still.
MONEY MONEY MONEY. That is all it is about today.
I use this rule when it comes to money and rich people. Guilty until proven innocent. Show me first how you GOT RICH. -
I've never bought Iams products, so that's one step in the right direction
But, I've recently read their defense--how they house each animals in rooms that have their own runs, how they don't do horrific testing (just food tests where they judge an animal's willingness to eat the food, etc).
Which may be true. At their own facilities they may not, but the separate research labs that they privately fund, DO.
Fickle, fickle wording (and if I could remember where I saw it, I would definitely post the link. Sorry). -
Everybody's entitled to an opinion, but in my opinion - it would be better if everybody boycotted PETA instead. At least IAMS isn't a criminal organization.
-
The reason no one has mentioned PETA is because it is universally understood that PETA is nutty and no one listens to what they say. I found out about Iams through different sources, not from PETA's information. Most people I know do boycott them (and try to make others aware of their insane ramblings and beliefs).
-
I don't how you can say that - iamscruelty.com is a PETA site - owned and managed by PETA.
-
Because I just said. I didn't learn about it through that website. I believe the sentence 'I found out about Iams through different sources" would have allowed you to see that. I have researched PETA and animal cruelty enough to know whose site is whose.
And I apologize if my response is slighty snappy. No offense intended. -
no offense taken!
I was just responding to this part of your comment

When it is obvious that ChristineKirchoff is listening to what they are saying, based on this thread topic ..

My response is also not meant to offend. I just really hate PETA and believe they should REMOVE the "E" out of their name because they are not ethical themselves .. -
You're right. If there is one thing I should have taken to heart from all of my sociology classes, it is that we can never make generalizations about ANYTHING (which is strange because sociology is all about generalizing). It always ends in a bad way.
What I should have said is: I don't listen to PETA, and those I personally know do not, either.
I'm in complete agreement with you. PETA is a horrible organization and should be banned. -
I haven't found anything bad about PETA yet but that's not the point to Iams cruelty and this thread.
The meaning was to bring light to the Iams company and how horrible it is. If I had not gotten the information I wouldn't have known. Not that I use Iams, I use Purina and fresh veggies, but I constantly see the comericals. In stores are there products, it should all be banned.
Animals are precious friends. They should be treated with respect and loved.
I'm glad others have taken an interest in this, spread the word about Iams.

I am huge animal lover, but this is old news. These photographs are almost a decade old and have since been discredited. The real reason you shouldn't buy IAMS is that they make an inferior product loaded with things no pet should eat like chicken by products, corn gluten, wheat gluten, preservatives and artificial coloring. My cat was eating Wellness all natural, grain free cat food until very recently. She suddenly decided that she didn't like her food anymore and I had to frantically search for something she would eat. She went nuts over the IAMS, much to my dismay. She loves all the salt and fat they load up their dry pet food with, but at least IAMS isn't total garbage like Fancy Feast or Meow Mix. I am trying to wean her off IAMS and back onto healthy food, but she is really stubborn.

oh wow...i forgot all about that. I started a petition about it a while ago..

I am HIGHLY SUSPICIOUS of any pet food manufacturers marketing. The company’s’ objective is to make pet food at the least cost possible and that will survive sitting on the retailer’s shelf for a couple of years. Their marketing then tries to convince us that you MUST consistently feed your pets THEIR food in order to provide balanced nutrition (Is this how we eat? Are we dying from malnutrition?). Apparently, these claims have worked well since this is what most pet owners do today. There’s some good info on WYSONG.NET/learn (which I generally trust) if you want to explore more.
After some extensive research, I decided a long time ago that most pet food manufacture’s claims are just your standard hype designed to make them more money and that manufactured pet food is a prescription for chronic debility and slow death. It saddens me that our society has become so deaf to such deceitful corporate practices (I’ll not wander further off topic into a general rant about deceitful marketing practices and how easily people buy such nonsense).
I started feeding my two dogs home cooking almost ten years ago. Both are sheltie mixed breeds that I adopted as young adults from the shelter around 1993. They are still in relatively good health. It doesn’t take that much effort and doesn’t cost much more than so-called premium kibble. My two really old dogs testify to the value of home cooking and they are certainly worth the extra effort to learn what's best and prepare their meals. The added bonus is, of course, they LOVE IT! -
