Hubby and I go to a 'Must dress-up' halloween party every year. This year, the family is going as the Scooby Doo characters, and we're painting an old appliance box as the Mystery machine to make our entrance.
But most years, we dress up as something together. The best was the year I went as a Domestic Diva, and he went as a Big Hairy Baby.
I wouldn't necessarily suggest that. Many people went blind at that party, including Hubby's dad, who vehemently denied his paternity throughout the night.
We've also gone as Bonnie & Clyde, Bill and Hillary Clinton, Ernie and Bert, Fred & Wilma Flintstone... This year, to be topical, you could go as political people, or Tim Gunn and Heidi Klum (you can pull that off, right?)
Have fun with it.
Edit: it almost goes without saying, but there's also Frankenstein and the Bride of Frankenstein costumes. Two good friends of ours were married on Nov. 1 a few years ago, and they had a costumed rehearsal & dinner the night before. The engaged couple wore those costumes, and it was a riot. -

This year my beloved and I are dressing up as McCain and Palin wearing very prominent Pinocchio noses.
