I found this technique that is something you already do. You just need to change it a little bit, and it can help you rank for those terms you've always wanted.

Hey, thanks for the great suggestion! I was going to start by leaving a comment on your blog, but I got an error stating your site had some problems with commenting.

Really mooo1? it that's the case I'm in trouble, how long ago was that? Because I just got a comment in the last 30 minutes. It should work now...

This is the first time that I hear. This is ready a good information to increase traffic. Thanks a lot.

Interesting idea. Would love to try it.

I'm confused. Where do you put that bit of code? In the comments box?
    1. ayouthofvalour
O and just so you know, it's not code, I don't know if you were referring to HTML code or not. But it's just a keyword. If you don't know what your keyword is, then I can help you with that.

I'm confused too. What exactly are you supposed to do?

I have read it again and i am not sure its the code that keeps appearing in the post, I think you are supposed to put you blog title in, instead of your name when leaving a message?

    Is that right?

    Still confused though..

sorry about that, hopefully I can remove the confusion. What you do is instead of posting your name in the *name* box. You post the keyword that your trying to rank for in search engines. So for me instead of posting "Jonathan Muller" in the name box, I post "How to Blog," which is a term that my site ranks for in google. Does that make sense?

    was that helpful?

Superb post, I'm a convert. What a little gem this is.

Can't wait to give it a try, such a simple idea, with potentially massive rewards.

Psst Check out google trends as well

It boils down to using keywords you want to target in the name field. e.g. if someone runs a blog about SEO they might use: Search Engine Optimization, SEO Help, SEO Guide, SEO Tutorials, whatever -- for the comment author field. Then they fill out email/url/text per usual. When google and other bots index the site their url gets spidered with relevant keywords in the title.

It's gaming the system and perverting the intended use of search engines. It's and example of underhanded SEO.

The first time I receive such comments I either break the link or I delete the comment. If there is a second time then I feed the IP, the email adddress, the company name and the url into Akismet or Defensio as "spam".

Thanks I will try.Is that part of SEO on/off page?

well I guess technically it's off page SEO. It's essentially link building.

That's interesting timethief, thanks for adding that. Would you say your being a bit harsh though with your moderating of comments? I mean what do you lose, even if they are getting on your top commentator list? The comment isn't worth anything unless you have top commentators, so if you just removed that, then they would gain anything.
