If you had a million dollars in the bank, what would you do? A million dollars isn't what it used to be, but having a million in cash right now is still pretty awesome. What would you do. Would you keep your sorry arse job? Would you pursue a dream? What dream? Would you invest? Why type of investments?

Like open the fridge and stuff

They have pre-wrapped sausages but they don't have pre-wrapped bacon
    Well, can you blame 'em

If I had a million dollars
We wouldn't have to walk to the store
If I had a million dollars
Now, we'd take a limousine 'cause it costs more
If I had a million dollars
We wouldn't have to eat Kraft Dinner
But we would eat Kraft Dinner
Of course we would, we’d just eat more
And buy really expensive ketchups with it
That’s right, all the fanciest ke... dijon ketchups!
    Mmmmmm, Mmmm-Hmmm

If I had a million dollars
(If I had a million dollars)
Well, I'd buy you a green dress
(But not a real green dress, that's cruel)

A million isn't really that much these days.

I'd pay off my debts, pay off the debts of my close family, invest some money somewhere (not sure where) then use the majority of it to help people in need in my community.

I would probably do some offshore investing with it, solar and wind power,
or put some in the Gold market which is still always gets some nice returns.
I can live off this for the rest of my life in a small shack in the Carribean if I wanted too.
I know how to live off $8-10,000 a yr, it's not that hard for a single person like myself.
All I need is internet access and a mattress and I'm good to go.

Just one million dollars? Well, I'd be able to pay the electricity bill and public transport for the next two months or so

yes .. yes .. although $1,000,000 isn't that much these days .. this is what I would do with it:

    1) pay off all my debts
    2) pay off all my family's debts
    3) save the economy.
    4) invest in the future
    5) feed the starving
    6) build homes for the homeless
    7) invent a car that runs on water
    8) buy a yacht

And, with the remaining funds I would:

    9) invest the rest in a suitable interest bearing GIC

    and finally

    10) go to school to get my Grade 2 math equivalent

Buy houses, charge rent, live off the rent.

I would do the following, in no particular order:

    a. Pay off my debts, and the debts of my girlfriend and my parents.
    b. Enroll my daughter in the best private school.
    c. Buy a nice house for no more than 300,000 and pay in full, no mortgage.
    d. Take a month long vacation to assorted resorts in the Caribbean and Hawaii.
    e. Open a Natural Hair care Salon in Philadelphia.
    f. Start a foundation to help displaced and unwanted children and teens.
    g. Purchase a few investment properties.
    h. Donate $20,000 to my childhood church.
    i. Purchase a few designer handbags, just because I've always wanted one.

OH, and thank GOD every second for giving me the money!!

pay my debts, leave my abusive jobs and become a full time writer; on the side play even more w/ my pets and travel

    i'm guessing that's after taxes?
no way in hell would i work for the next twenty or so years.
and some of it would go into a trust fund for a certain somebody. can't really explain that in any detail though.

pay of my debts, get my father an apartment, give my brother some money to help towards his house, the rest of the family can get themselves out of the crap they got into, if someone is always there to get you out of debt you got yourself into how will they ever learn?
The rest I will put away for my daughters education and donate to a lot of charity.

million bucks is still alot of money these days, put it in the bank or some kind of interest account live and start a business using the interest generated from it every month

4% of 1 million is 40,000 so no living off the interest. Let me see. I would buy a condominium, not a house. I hate having to maintain things and I am lazy. I would buy some shares in Berkshire Hathaway. I might take a short trip to visit my relatives. I have no debt.

Different than most people I would give a lot of it away. You don't need that much. Put $500,000 in a bank CD for 5 years and you would get about $140,000 in free money.

I would give about $500,000 away and invest the other $500,000 and get the money back I donated from the CD interest.

Do tons of research and invest.. in..
    Nano-technology
    Solar panels
    more Nano-technology
    a small local bank
    Cisco -maybe
    more nano-tech
and then I would buy a few houses while the crises is still going on, I would then sit on them or rent them until the market came back up.
Everything that is left I would dump into some short term CD and bonds.
I would save 50k to live on for a year or so while continuing my career.
and, ohh, I would prolly buy a used hybrid, just off of lease. With maybe 30k miles on it. So $15,000 subtracted from the 50k.
