One of my classic visual memories from home is my dad sitting, peacefully, on a recliner while all of our animals (2 cats and a dog) are lying on top of him, completely at peace and he's reading a book.

I have a whole blog of cat and dog stories. The one I can think of now is my bichon is a cat chaser, after 3 sets of orphan kittens he's gotten better but still loves to chase them. We have a young red fluffy tomcat named Paris who doesn't run however and accompanies the bichon outside wherever he goes, especially for his morning constitutional!

Forgive me all if this little story is out of place here, but as a cat lover, I thought it was the best cat story I HAD EVER HEARD.

A man absolutely hated his wife's cat and decided to get rid of him one day by driving him 20 blocks from his home and leaving him at the park.

As he was getting home, the cat was walking up the driveway.

The next day he decided to drive the cat 40 blocks away. He put the beast out and headed home.

Driving back up his driveway, there was the cat!

He kept taking the cat further and further and the cat would always beat him home. At last he decided to drive a few miles away, turn right, then left, past the bridge, then right again and another right until he reached what he thought was a safe distance from his home and left the cat there.

Hours later the man calls home to his wife: "Jen, is the cat there?"

"Yes", the wife answers, "why do you ask?"

Frustrated, the man answered, "Put that son of a bitch on the phone, I'm lost and need directions!"

My cat caught a bat the other day.
I'm sorry that it isn't a cute story, but I thought it was pretty amazing.

Hmmmmm.... I think that's cool in a different way! What kind of cat do you have?

As soon I as could walk/toddle my dad use to send me out into the garden to chase cats away from the birdies

    Pretty cute eh?
    1. BetsyIckes
Yes And that is a nice childhood memory!

I scold my cat always when he stalks the birds. He caught a little Carolina wren. We set him free unharmed. The wren scolded and scolded the cat....the dialogue from such a little bird sent us into fits of laughter....the bird is still here, now with a mate in the birdhouse, and he's very savvy.

Awww I can just picture that! Sounds so commical!

My cat loves to behave like a little flower, following the sunny spot around the apartment. Then (my apartment faces east) in the afternoon, she comes looking for me to snuggle up with.

    She's a little love.

Aww I like that! You know it does feel good to lay in the sun

My cat "Smokey" loves to bring me his daily catch (birds, mouse or chipmunks)
and gently places them near my feet while I read the morning newspaper.
He seems very proud of his accomplishments and I better not disagree with him
as he is not the type of cat that you would want to cross.

Here he is in all his glory
(he was a lot thinner when we 1st found him but this shot says differently)

My Cat Smokey - Can you see his character?

That's funny a character in one of my short stories did terrible things to his cats. Check it out. Its called The Substitute.
    1. BetsyIckes

My cat whenever she hears the newspaper will jump on the table and lie right in the middle of it until you give her attention. If you put her back on the floor, she immediately jumps right back up.

At night she also nudges you until you let her under the blankets...there's a limit to how many nudges she'll give, the next step is she will simply lie across your face until you give in. I'm not sure if she is trying to kill you or annoy you.
    1. BetsyIckes
      Now that cat has personality!
