      lnclark1950~ i wonder if you have enough time to pick all of themm in such situation...let say, u realized ur house was on fire too late and u could only rescue one of them in such limited time, which one will u pick? Kat,Figgy or Kick?

    Besides making sure everyone was safe, I would grab photo albums and if I had time, jewelry and my laptop.

      acousticguitarist~ well, it depends on your perspectives actually. if u take this topic as your own guidance in future, u'll find it beneficial, but if u think this topic is just to make laugh or fun to the australians, u'll find it annoying........for me, fire can happen anywhere at anytime to ANYONE, not necessary only in Australia. i feel pitty for them, but that doesn't mean that we should stop thinking anything to do with fire. Life must carry on with positive thinking no matter what happen. But still,i am being humble enough to say sorry if this topic and this comment really annoying to you.

      200 people have died in Australia at the time you posted this. That was my point.

      No need to be sorry or humble. humility is not what most people think it is

    @acousticguitarist:
    That is so sad and awful.. Alaska experiences horrible fires too, but none that has taken so many lives at once. I hope you and your family and friends are safe.

    Fire is a really scary situation. I had a house fire once, and I had to get a disabled young man out (he started the fire...playing with a lighter he found in school) and trying to get my husband awake (he worked nights and just had gotten to sleep an hour before) and to get some pets out.

    I barely had time to get the humans up and out.. it happened so fast, just as I pushed my hubby out the door I turned to see if I could get my cats... the doors slammed shut and were sealed shut. I couldn't get them open. We ended up losing two of my children's pets. My husband had a case of mild smoke inhalation (which with asthma.. I almost lost him)

    But at least the child and my husband and I were not burned. And it was during school hours or I would have had my 3 natural children and two more disabled foster kids to deal with... It was very fast.. very frightening... and we lost everything!

    Some don't realize how fast this can happen... We had no time to grab anything precious... if I had went back in for the cats before the doors sealed I would have been stuck inside with no way out too. It brings back nightmares sometimes.
