One week is not quite enough time, but I've done this many times:

First of all, you will need a bit of expertise in some type of rare item such as antiques, collectibles, etc. You have to know what things are worth. I usually go for rare books because that's my area of expertise.

Next, get up at about 3:00 a.m. on a weekday and look for items about to end. Put in a last second bid for way less than it's worth and hope to win it. You have a much better chance at that early hour because most people are sleeping at that time. Don't mess around with $5 items, go for something that you will have to pay $200 to $500 that you can resell for $1000 to $1500 or more.

After you receive the item, take really good quality photos and pay for the featured item in the appropriate section. Start the bidding at $1 and let her rip.

The last rare book I did this with I paid $388 for it and sold it for $1550.

I haven't had to do this in a long time, but whenever I get in a money jam, this is usually how I bail myself out.

    Hi DeadRooster,

This is a really great idea. I'm not in a money jam personally, I just want to hear from people who are very confident about making money online.

Let me ask you this, since I don't have any expertise in really any areas, what road should I travel if you were to recommend one that is easy to learn?

      Eric (epm1013),

If you mean, "what should I learn about to buy and sell on ebay," I suggest you find something in which you would have at least a little bit of interest, otherwise it gets too boring. Rare and collectible items are the best because of the potential high prices they can bring.

If I didn't already have so much expertise in rare books, I would probably look into something like vintage fishing lures or Hotwheels. Both of these can be sold for several hundred dollars or even thousands if you get a hold of the right ones. Also, they are small and easy to ship (which is why I never got into buying or selling antique furniture on ebay even though I have some expertise).

One other thing about ebay: don't try selling anything valuable until you have several positive feedbacks, otherwise no one will trust you enough to pay more than a few bucks. People are skeptical. I can put a $1,000 book on ebay and people have no trouble bidding on it because I have over 400 positive feedbacks and zero negatives.

      Hopefully, that helps a little.

My mum sells on ebay and has made loads just selling items she picks up for 50p.

After a while she has managed to limit it down to certain areas. She has no expertise.

If you have something worth a lot of money and that is rare or unique, eBay is the way to go.

But long term, unless you have a constant stream of rare and unique items, eBay sucks big time. I was on eBay for the longest time. Since then I probably spent more than three times as much as I earned on fees. Auction fees, Store fees, Completed Sale fee (eBay), Completed Sale fee (Paypal). It's crazy!

They use really good, but now they are just too corporate. It's getting harder and harder to make money on eBay now-a-days.

Ebay, absolutely. The main reason is that it's always easiest to make money when you're actually offering something of concrete value. IMO, the biggest problem with the whole "make money online" movement is that most people are trying to generate money out of thin air instead of exchanging something of value for it.

Geez ... I think I'd end up dead by the end of the week. But I'd try ebay.

Mmh the easiest way to make 500 in one week (or maybe one day) is to do be a girl, do a striptease and send it to a XXX website

eBay. I can easily do $500 a week on eBay selling antiques...although it used to be easier in the past than it is now. I wish they'd quit changing stuff!

Id build a program in excel and knock up one of those ebooks then go to the warrior forum (A forum for Internet marketers) and put it in their warrior special offers.

I did one of these to gain a bit of money for my wedding 3 years ago and made just over 300 pounds ($600) in 3 days!

On top of this I would sell loads of rubbish I have knocking around on Ebay, did this after the new year and made 200 pounds ($400) in two weeks
